Ships from a newbie :)

Let's face it, the main attraction of BSF is building your own ships. Share them! If you need help, check the Shipmaker Info & Help forum a little ways down.

Ok, I got some free time so I have been busy building, trying to get better.

These are halfway decent. The shapes are interesting, and the section usage isn't bad.

The main issues I see are stretched/shrunk sections, which look bad. Also, the white/light grey sections stick out like sore thumbs, personally, I think they should be blended in a bit better.

Fair point about the light grey, I was going to ask if it was too bright.
Fixed that, now.

I won't upload all the screenshots of the fixed ships, just one, and a shot of a new one.

It's a definite improvement. Now I think you need to develop a more logical structure to your ships. As is, every area seems a bit undistinguished.

I think I get what you are saying? You mean a similar style that each ship within a fleet uses, or do you mean 'structure' as in a bish-bash-bosh of random sections duct-taped together? :P
I could always try building a ship from one of the old 3D designs I made back in the day, who knows, prehaps working from an image might lead to less loose and random sections.

In the mean time, I finished the Pheonix, finally.

Pheonix Class Battleship
Flagship of the Anadarian Fleet
'The Burning Angel'

Araments: 4x Heavy seeker missile bays
2x Heavy Gauss Cannons
8x Broadside Hyperaccelerated Mass Drivers
2x Ion Repeaters
2x Capitol Ion Streamers
2x 'Arbalest' Prototype Ion lances
1x Super Heavy Phased Cannon Array

Backstory: Only one Pheonix class battleship has ever been produced, the sole ship itself was only designed and built to house the new Super Heavy Phased Cannon Array, of which there is only one in existence.
The reason for the Phased cannon being so unique is in the components needed to make it work: 'Event' Focus crystals, found only at the centre of black holes, formed in the incredible and savage crushing power of infinite gravity, are composed of literally solid light, energy and stars all drawn into a black hole, where all the matter is condensed into small crystals, no larger than a mans hand. A huge flow of electrons and subgluons is passed through a 1/2 mile long electromagnetic tube several time to bring it up to near light speeds within the Pheonix's hull, whereupon the soup of submolecular particles are fired through the Event crystals, which are themselves suspended electromagnetically due to their sheer density, to overcharge the stream of particles. The infinite power of the black hole and its substance is ripped from the crystal and transferred into the stream of particles. The Stream becomes so saturated with raw energy it explodes out of a specially formed firing tube, and is formed into an incredibly destructive beam.
The beam itself contains so much energy within a relatively small area that reality itself is destroyed around the beam, anything touching the beam will, without a doubt, be completely annihilated, and cease to exist.
The phased cannon is HIGHLY unstable, however, and huge electrical discharges are common, arcing massive forks of lighting hundreds of miles into space, often impacting into planets and causing fifty mile wide craters and destroying entire cities in some cases.
Anything struck by this monstorous weapon will no doubt be completely destroyed. Ships that are glanced by the phased cannon can lose entire segments of their hull, often splitting ships in half. Ships that are struck with a direct blow will be ripped apart, destroying them in a single blow.
Tests on several exo-planets demonstrate that the phased cannon, directed at a planet, can penetrate the whole way through a planet, through its mantel and core, out the other side and continue causing damage in space.

The Pheonix, or as it is affectionately known, The Burning Angel, serves the Anadarian fleet as its Flagship.

I highly recommend that you do this. Working from a 3-D image helps a lot with the design of a ship.
