I'm currently trying a Y-Wing and would like some advice.

Two WIP screenshots:

Which one is better?

Still needs guns, shields, thrusters, actual work on ship stats, etc. Also have to find a good way to add the yellow color bits.

I'm almost certain I've missed a few things, though, so suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, weapon wise, is there any way i could get an uninterceptable EMP weapon for the Ion cannons? I'm guessing no but would like to be wrong. Also, I've had problems in the past getting fixed forward weapons to fire, and I could use some tips for the lasers. Finally, does anyone know of some good sprites for the cockpit windows?

I'm planning to upload the blueprints soon.

im nto the best person to give yu a feedback but, you made a quite nice ship, just send some images of the original ship to make comparations.

I study Star Wars a little, and I think the first one looks better. Also, the pieces that are blue should be either yellow or light orange, just to get you started.

I'll try to address most of that, but definitely a decent attempt. I'm excited people are doing fan ships.
EMP torpedo interceptability can be set. I don't recall if froch can be intercepted. I've even been able to turn the torpedo into a beam so you can get lots of interesting combinations there, but be prepared for errors.

As for fixed forward firing guns, I find the best way is this: Place the fixed weapon with a very small firing arc; like 1-5. Place another weapon with identical stats except for a larger firing arc, like 45. Also make this second weapon have 0 burst, and 'does not fire' in the edit 2 tab. Then link them so the first weapon will fire straight forward when the second weapon detects an enemy anywhere in its arc range. Generally works, though there may be other methods.

Got a few good cockpit sprites, though. Some are in horsemonster's and the dst pack. I also have these, though some need work.

Haha nice, I had that toy!
Don't forget the two antenna thingies on the nose. I think theres definitly better pieces that could be used for the struts, but shape wise your right on as far as I can tell. Found a piece that might work for the nacelle tips but actually I like the way you have em now.I also have an R-2 sprite somewhere but I'll have to find it. In the meantime I'd suggest moving the misc_29 you have forward to use as the r-2 cuz its perfect shape. Keep it up, I hope you do other fighters after this.

At first I thought it was bad parenting for a turret I was working on, but the errors persisted even after i deleted the turret.
I'm going to hope someone can tell me what's wrong with it.

Edit: Should I post this in "Shipmaking info and resources" instead?

Edit 2: Never mind, deleting some of the random pipes fixed the problem for some reason.

Okay, I solved the problem and finished the ship. It's not to any particular scale.

Weapons are two ion cannons in a turret, two forward firing lasers, and a "Proton Torpedo" launcher.

I don't know if it's balanced, even against itself, because when I try and make it fight a copy of itself, the game crashes.

Edit: It would have been really funny if someone had said "Almost there, almost there..." :lol:

did you mirror any depthed weapons? if you did that, well don't, it ust messes up the parenting and all and makes the ship crash in game. the only improvement i'd say is find a better sprite for the rails on the engines, but other than that it's nice

The sections on the front need a little work, they don't fit too well.
And Altahir is right the wings come in about 5 - 10 pixels closer than they are
Also the ship had front and rear deflectors if you are going to go for the authentic feel to it.
