Elaborate, please?
Well, right now we have to send over the file system we used plus the ship file itself. Previously, we could send over a single file that you could just load stuff from.

Now, I understand that it probably won't ever be that simple again (and even if it became that simple, I can't see it being pretty :P) but were you going to implement something that would simplify that somewhat?

In other words you want an easier way of distributing the custom sprites. Probably not gonna happen.

You know about the frame capture function in SM, right?

Well, i implemented a function that lets you save all the sprites currently used by your ships (section, weapon and doodad sprites, bullet sprites, thruster flare) into a separate folder with a proper directory structure. So you just use it, zip the folder, send it along with sb4/shp, and the receiver just unpacks it into his custom sprites dir.

I don't think itll get much simplier than that, though. The only other option would be to include custom sprites into sb4/shp, which would implies a total reworking of those formats into binary finals, and is a waste of resources anyway.

Most BSF players are dedicated enough to work with archives. It just takes a minute at most anyway. If anything the bigger download sizes are a problem, hosting-wise.

Not if you keep the sprites small, simple (few colors) and properly saved (png). For example, all my sections (there are 170) take 60kb.

Definately not too innovative among others' work, but I am sure they will put some people into awe and shock.

Right now the conversion of sb3 files to sb4 files results in 'blend mode' errors because it converts them all to a number that is not supported.

Will it be fixed upon release or will we need to manually correct our sb3 hulls?

Conversion from sb3 to sb4 is not going to happen. Sorry.

Given how outrageously popular Lizzie's work is on the main forum, making the Hades almost an iconic ship, I nominate this bruiser.

Also, LEGO!!!!11!!!!

Question: How did it come to pass that the BSFCE release was greenlighted?

I appreciate it but Sean's already rejected my ship due to it "not using enough of the new features". Good luck trying to get him to take it regardless. :|

His show, his rules, I won't argue with him. I just think it's something recognizable and yet new that people could get behind readily.
