Okay, there are a few problems with this.

First of all, youve included only some of the proposed sections.

Second, why the arbitrary 99 sections number?

Third, we didnt even touch the possibility of custom section import, which would make the whole thing pointless

Fourth, don't you think we should discuss things like this first? I mean, you're making arbitrary decisions here not consulting anyone. At least talk with other people who are working on BSFCE.

To be honest, id rather if 'officials' handled stuff like this. Meaning Arcalane, basically.

CT, I really doubt you'll drum up any more sections out of people so I'm going to delete your thread in the main forums because we are supposed to be keeping this project quiet, and for the last time;

1) Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that there isn't someone who does.
2) Enough bitching about 'single use'. We have a ton of space to go on and people are very creative.

We're going to need a scroll method ANYWAY, long before we reach 50. Kaelis wisely suggested using right click on the arrows to scroll ten, which is more efficient if you ask me.

I've included the ones people generally said they liked. Do you really want the toilet seat as an official section. :|

The arbitrary 99 sections . . . appears to be something I misread from the SB string writing code. I'll scratch that part. But still, the sections should be good.

Then suggest a better method. We're going to need more sections anyway.

@Arca: Then we need to find another route to to take here.

Also, on the subject of planet sprites, I found some interesting ones from an AstroEmpires graphics pack: http://forum.astroempires.com/viewtopic ... 46&t=20248 . Scroll down a little from the top.

Point is, you're making decisions. Which you shouldnt be doing. No offence.

I like those. But this begets another question: should we use artwork thats not ours and is not availabe for free use? Plus at least few of those are ripped/stolen.

And just so you know, making good looking planets is easy. You don't need any skill or knowledge, and there are great tutorials for it.

Wait, I just remembered why I made the giant section-plan-thing in the first place. We need a way for people to make as many sections as they want, but not have any section name conflicts. So will each sprite get a specific registered number, or will we have to trust that people will check before they name a sprite? If that issue's taken care of, my previous idea is moot. What I was hoping was that we could have a single database of sections here, and people will just copy the sprites they need off this page and into their sprite folder.

Well, they can be named anyway people like. IF were going to use custom section import, they don't need to use spr_SectionXX naming scheme. To make sure theres no duplicates, we could adopt putting your name first then section name (Kaelis_HiImInYourShip) as a rule.

But then it's really going to get confusing when we start trading sections and drawing a new section for every ship . . . >_>

You do realize that with Custom Section importation, Ship Making will no longer be what it is know, right?

As I see it, all the best ships from then on would be drawn in layers, converted section by section into custom sprites, and imported into the game, and reassembled.

To elaborate on HK's comment, you would essentially draw your ship in Photoshop or something, cut it up into sections for realistic destruction, and put it back piece by piece into SM. In other words, any sort of ship you feel like making will become possible.

Actually, it's more along the lines of now whoever is the best pixel artist (and with a good portion of creativity) makes the best ships. :P

Are we allowed to put some sprites in this thread or would it be more appropriate to create another thread for sprite consideration?
