The Griatian Nomads started from a simple group of humans traveling in a makeshift barge, leaving the Sol system to roam about and gather resources. However, on their adventures, they found on the 7th planet of the Alpha Centauri A system a incredibly powerful artifact, which was a incredibly powerful structural field called a Q-field that strengthened the ship immensely and allowed the otherwise frail structure to support and absorb incredible amounts of force. It was sealed within a special field that could not be brought down in any way, and the artifact would destroy itself if the ship were to blow up. Simulations show that the barge could survive colliding with a planet. (!) The original barge looked like this:
After the finding of the artifact, the barge could support lots of things and therefore was built upon and grew and grew until it became a ship of epic proportions; a world ship. It was capable of holding gigatons worth of resources, millions of citizens, gigantic govermental facilities, and incredibly powerful defenses and weapons, all in one package.
The world ship was boarded at every major planet by thousands of citizens, human or not, seeking fortunes and happiness amongst those who roam the stars. Every creature that has a respiratory system is modified to breathe a certain gas; every creature that doesn't fit in well has a special life support system; this allows them to live without isolation of world ship areas.
Nomad culture is varied due to the different races of the group.
