Distant Star military hardware (DSMH)

Post by apotheosi »

background

For many decades, the powerful Ubero conglomerate had its claws on the global shipping market for both civilian commercial shipping and military vessels. Having obtained vast political power by helping to rig elections in numerous systems and financing or sponsoring certain rebellions, Ubero had much of the Ta'ori galaxy under its grip. However, they preferred to stay low-profile and continue their reign through use of puppet administrations. Ubero's end came when rogue powers that they once financed overthrew them and their controllers and began running things their way.

Ubero unsheathed its sword and smashed most of the disorganized rebellions unveiling its Einsatzgruppen fleets' capacity for destruction and forced peace. This move meant that Ubero's iron grip had become more clear and present, leaving people under their rule as they began clamping down on the more volatile systems with collectivization rulings which filled Ubero's coffers while depleting a planet's resources and leaving its inhabitants poverty-stricken.

Enter Distant Star military hardware. DSMH was a former faux company set-up by Ubero to field test next generation vessels and equipment but as the rebellion reached its fervor peak, all combat personnel there were transferred into the closest einsatzgruppen fleet available, leaving only technical and maintenance staff behind in a derelict of a shipyard. The shipyard was promptly taken over by a nameless mercenary group which then decided DSMH to be a firm independent of Ubero, thus infuriating the latter. DSMH would go on to produce ships for their 'liberators' to help combat the einsatzgruppen fleets. DSMH and Nietdietsche vessels would form the bulk of the new Vaerias Axis fleets in hopes of forming a new unified governing body.

The DSMH shipyard is as its name implies, located on the fringe of the galaxy's arm, where little or no people at all go to, until the eve of the rebellion whereby civilians and refugees begin seeking out some form of refuge and assylum within non-Ubero controlled quarters. Some of these people will come and man DSMH vessels in exchange for protection, which is much to their chagrin an irony.
