::Battle Theme: The Answer
After 68 years of bitter fighting, the Great War has finally turned in favour of Movement and Old Alliance forces. The Milky Way Galaxy has been completely liberated of Technocracy forces, and the numbers of lesser THV worshippers have severely dwindled. With the sheer vigor of the MRA pushing them back in galaxy #2 and the mighty hammer of the Alliance Remnant coming down on them in galaxy #3, the Technocracy is slowly losing ground on every front. Every venture they make brings them eye to eye with a determined fleet to halt them dead in their tracks. Dead being the operative word.
But not everything is going as planned for either faction. The MRA has endured considerable losses, and it's strength in numbers has been compromised. If not for an unforseen event that paused the Great War, it would have been unwinnable in the end.
It first started as rumours. But then the evidence piled up. To'Hol Venaari ships, lying in ruin even before Remnant or MRA forces could get to them. Scourge Hives burned down to the ground, Tal' Vorah colony vessels completely obliterated. Signs of another faction combating the Technocracy, and winning ground on a disturbing pace were indeniable. In the 70th year of the Great War, an Alliance scoutship managed to witness a battle between a Scourge fleet and a fleet of unknown origin.
After that, several explanations were possible. A faction, that was already at war with the Technocracy has now ventured inside our territory. Another possibility is that several other enemies of the Technocracy have made a pact, similar to the MRA when they saw it was being weakened. Or, and this is the most popular explanation, the THV bit off more than they can chew in one of their latest ventures and managed to actually find an Elder race and piss it off. But in this case, who is it? Predecessors, who's ship crashed long ago in the Oceans of Ruustiria? The Chora, mystery race that was the basis of all SIUS technology? Or another, yet unknown species?
Either way, Technocracy forces soon started to refocus their attention to this new threat. It gave the MRA and the Allaince Remnant a pause. A pause they took gladly. Licking their wounds, it was decided that strength in numbers wasn't enough. The enemy of the Technocracy needs to be advanced, strong and united under a single banner. Inspired by the sucesses of the Great War and the history of the Old Alliance, a new charter was written. A charter that would change the course of the known universe forever.
In the Great War year 74, the Second Intergalactic Alliance was founded. It funded research projects into advanced weaponry, ways to fight the races of the Technocracy by taking advantage of their weaknesses and organized the fight against the THV themselves with newfound vigilance. After 6 years of rebuilding and diplomatic paperwork, the Alliance had finally returned.
