History:

The Teutonic Republic began in the same place most other human empires did: Earth. The Teutonic Republic was one of the more distant colonies of the Earth Empire, and as such was among the first to split from its motherland. Later, as the original Earth Empire retaliated in an attempt to regain the colonies, through distance and solidarity the Teutonic peoples, as well as outside influences in the quickly disintegrating empire, outlasted Earth, winning the freedom of the Teutonic nation. In the time the Republic has endured since then, it has grown to a major power in the surrounding areas and beyond. Notable operations include the shutdown of piracy in the IT-003 System and general elimination of piracy as a whole, the conquest of the Kondradt empire, and several successful defenses against unassuming invaders.

The Armed Forces of the Teutonic Republic are divided into two groups: The Raumwehr, and the Raumwaffe. Typically the Raumwehr exists in a border guard and general police operation. Generally the abilities of the Raumwehr are more than enough to deal with threats to the Teutonic Republic. However, when it comes to full scale military operations, the Raumwehr lacks the firepower and general capability to wage total war against an determined opponent. Where the Raumwehr fails, the Raumwaffe steps in.

The Raumwaffe is not a typical part of Republic life. Used only in times of war, the Raumwaffe is regarded by some as a 'deus ex machina' to any war the Republic fights. (Of course, the Republic seldom engages in total war against a major galactic power. In event of this, the Raumwaffe's capabilities are unknown.) Often times the mere existence of the Raumwaffe acts as a deterrent to war. During peace time, the forces are cryogenically stored in special stations, placed strategically without Republic space and international space, as well as in the space of militarily allied nations. These stations are all built to different specifications, but typically each station and will hold at least one thousand ships and soldiers in excess of 10 million , including the crews of ships. Upon war or threat thereof, the leader of the Republic may activate the Raumwaffe at a single command. Different levels of activation are possible. A full activation of all of the Raumwaffe's assets is an omen upon the galaxy; rarely does the Republic need the full firepower of the Raumwaffe. The last activation of the Raumwaffe was a Level I (on a scale of I-III) in preparatory action against a potential To'Hol Venaari invasion.

The typical assault plan of the Raumwaffe is basic: Use the most force to engage the enemy where they will exhibit the least resistance; Attack with the most speed possible; Do not fight if there is nothing to gain by winning. However, the size of the Raumwaffe allows for great flexibility within this plan: Special Forces play an important role within the Raumwaffe.

Unlike other militaries, Ground and Space Forces of the Republic are not separated. Typically every Raumwaffe capital ship will carry a contingent of Marines and equipment. Larger ships operate special forces units. Marine units are comparable to the forces of other nations in their use of powered suits and general equipment.
Special Forces of the Teutonic Republic are renowned throughout the galaxy. Unlike the typical marines of the Raumwaffe, SF units are almost entirely human, with no mechanical augmentations visible on their body. This helps with human/alien interaction. SF units typically are augmented with chrono-augmentation and physical cloaking devices as well as psy-cloaking. (The primary difference being that psy shield will generate a “black zone” easy for a psy trained soldier to spot, whereas a psy cloak mimics the environment as well as negating psy effects within its radius.)
