You all have about 50 million starting credits.
No starting resources. Might give you all free resources in a bit though.
No starting fleet, you joined up at the beginning!
Do anything you want right now, I'm not stopping you. Just know the average income (after deductions from spending) is about 15 million credits.
Err, use the tables provided in the appendix.
Yes.

are you going to tell us how much we make, or do we have to keep track of it?

also, do planets only produce thier specialty? or do they produce all resources, with the specialty getting a bonus?

in the case of the former, i have no food whatsoever

You don't need to produce food in order to feed your people.

And yeah, I keep track of your expenses and revenues, just that I was too lazy yesterday to finish off the tax revenues and decided to start the game without it. Yeah, I'm sending the next tax sheet out now.

Yes, planets only produce their specialty. But that's only when you are producing it for your stockpile. Don't question it unless you've read the manual.

Finally, I forgot to mention, you have to spend money on propaganda. Say like "I spend 24 million credits on propaganda". Of course that's a grievous waste of money, but it's an example nonetheless.

im probably going to sound silly but, does commerce produce whatever you want?

it's not in manual or appendix. just a plus or minus

Commerce increases your income tax. By a lot. In fact you have about 8 times more income tax than anyone else. I think.

It occurred to me showing you examples of the previous game might help.

The rules have changed, but the playstyle hasn't.

I'm soo confuzed as to how much raw materials cost. Can we have a basic outline for how much production runs would cost? And can, for example, a science planet with "Electronics" under the resource table also produce other science materials? Or only Electronics?

Go to Appendix.xls, the second table has a nicely done conversion table. Enter the values, get the output.

No, I can't tell you in words, since I don't know exactly how the formulas work either. I just randomly put in numbers until it felt nice.

You don't need to build ships out of composites, since you can draw resources from your economy, just that it'll cost more. More depending on how much Durantium costs at the moment, and your position in relation to durantium producing planets. With your position, I'd say durantium costs about... 5.6mc a unit, since you're really close to the Durantium producing systems.

@Deathguard:
That'll be an extra 4.2mc per durantium (your system is a producer of durantium). Although, you can purchase some duranite (err, I guess that'd be 3.1mc in your area) to make some durantium, but that's sort of... not worth it. But still, you'll have some extra durantium in your stocks.

So, I have to spend 4.2mc per unit of durantium - do systems that do not produce it have to take the conversion option and spend more, or something?

No, it's that you can just pay for resources instead of drawing them from your own resource pile.

Think of it like... Rushing a building in Civ.

I feel like an idiot now =P

I found the number of raw materials... on the first fricking post. Problems solved!

If it's not too late to join, I'd like to hop in - but be warned, I haven't read much/any of the documentation yet...

Leader Name: Malik
Social Class: Noble (Priesthood)
Major Political Ideology: Theocracy (It isn't on your list, but I feel it's just as valid a choice - if you have a problem with it, lemme know)
Minor Political Ideology: Authoritarion
Major Opposing Political Ideology: Socialists
Minor Opposing Ideologies: Businessmen, Anarchists, Aristocrats

I figure my gov't would have too many opposing ideologies, so I split it into a major and minors.
