CF2:DoaE [OOC, Sign-up] *Sequel to CF:RotNE*

Post by Normandy »

Ah, so you're one of those new "faction leaders" eh? Planning to leave your mark on history? Such naive, yet... I don't feel you're going to be a complete waste.

I still cannot believe our Emperor has let all this go under his nose, he's literally got nothing under his control anymore. He's so old he can barely control his own body. Yet he still remains in supreme control. He has not named an heir and has no obvious choice. He hasn't even hinted at who he will choose. The empire will collapse, even before he dies. And you're the ones that will collapse it. Yet I suppose it will be inevitable.

So, tell me a little about yourself, friend. Are you a pirate? A statesman? I'd sure like to know. It'll be nice to know people in this era of...

Conflicting Factions 2:
Dawn of an Era

*No storyline will been taken from Conflicting Factions: Rise of the New Empire. This is a sequel in spirit only.*

Basically, for those of you who didn't play CF:RotNE, you control a rogue political faction after an empire has split. The last game didn't really get off to a nice start, and its active player had to leave (I use singular correctly), so I ended it in hopes of making it simpler for you, me, and everyone, as well as expanding on concepts I felt I had rushed a little.

So, wish to begin a new empire? Advocate a new democracy? Brainwash people in your Utopian ideals? Or even just make a band of pirates, it's all possible. Thrown in is a thoroughly intricate, yet simple economic, military, and political system. Bake for about a week or two, or until extremely awesome.

So you wish to sign up, eh? Please fill out this form:
Name [of Faction]:
Leader Name:
Leader Bio (opt.):
Social Class:
Major Political Ideology:
Minor Political Ideology:
Opposing Political Ideology:
Name of faction, Leader name and Leader Bio are simple enough.

Social class is what class of society your leader is from. Choose:
Noble - "Pure" blooded, you know.
Warrior - Non-nobles who still held much power
Merchant - "Soft" laborers
Peasant - "Hard" laborers
Exile - Removed from society

Political Ideologies are, well, political ideologies. Major is what you fully support, Minor is what's sort of "behind the scenes", and Opposing is the ideology you can't stand. Refer to party.txt for a list of political ideologies and a short description.

Oh, so now you wish to know how to play? Ugh, make me do everything. I suppose I'll explain economy first.

Tax: There's Census Tax, Income Tax, and Production Tax. Set them to whatever you wish. The average is 8%. Please refer to the documentation to get more info.
Expenses: These are based off of percentages of your total income. Balance Welfare, Infrastructure, Security, and Savings. All of them start at 25% of your budget. Set it accordingly.

Resource Production
(Refer to the appendix for tables and the conversion chart)
Each planet type produces a certain type of resource, depending on it's specialization. Check the chart in the appendix for specifics.

How do you calculate what you put for the "Raw Materials" column? Simple. Take the planet size (4 for tiny, 5 for small, 6 for medium, 7 for large, 8 for large, 3 for stations), and add the following (depending on population size):

Sparse - 1
Tiny - 2
Fairly Small - 3
Small - 4
Medium-Small - 5
Medium - 6
Fairly Large - 7
Large - 8
Extremely Large - 9
Huge - 10

(Note that these rankings are subjective - a station with a huge population won't necessarily have even close to the same amount of population as a huge planet with a huge population. A tiny planet with a huge population won't necessarily have close to the same population as a small planet. This is to balance out the numbers a little bit. Just remember stations get only half the population bonus.)

Code: Select all

How to Pay for Production:
Take how much you want to produce. Say you wish to produce 12 units of Durantium. Find out the size and population of the planet. Say it's size is 7 and population is 5. Take the planet size and multiply it by the Production Costs. Lets say it's a temperate planet with the production cost at 1 mc. That means you pay 7 million credits. Then, for every x units produced, you pay that many times the average wages for the specialization, x being the population size. In this case lets say the average wages is 10 [for manufacturing]. 12 is 5 three times (always round up), so you pay 30 million credits. In total that's 37 million credits. Easy.
Please read the appendix for production notes. Just know when I refer to 'planet size', I mean the number listed for planet size in the planet list (the newest one, I have yet to release. I'll release next tick), and same for population.

Ah, read the documentation provided for more information, I don't have all day you know. Lets see, what's next... Ah, I see. Movement and Military.

Movement is simple. 1 move point to move 1 step. Moving from Planet A to Planet B takes 1 move point. Moving from Planet A to planet C, however, still takes 1 move point. Moving from Planet A to warp point A takes one supply, but you can't end your turn on a warp point, so it takes another move point to move off the warp point.

Military is also simple. Just roleplay what you wish to do. Check the appendix for a list of ship and ship costs.

You are now good to play. If you wish to go more in-depth, please read the documentation. It's helpful. You will need the documentation for the appendix and starmap, however.

The Game has begun. However, feel free to join at any time. I'll make sure you'll still be able to compete.

Updated the documentation, opened sign-ups.

Feel free to make multiple factions. I tried to make a game where it's not important whether you know another faction's actions or not.

Also, a little feedback please. Tell me what you need to know, and I'll clarify it.

The game itself is still a long way off, but now is the time to begin getting in character and making those starting relationships. You can roleplay with your faction, just it won't be official... yet.

Name [of Faction]: Outer Rim Confederacy (ORC)
Faction Details (opt.): Whilst the O.R.C is not particularly advanced, it is strong in morale and the belief of the followers in their leader. It makes up for it's low technology with a strong economy and industry as well.
Leader Name: Kyle Denholm
Leader Bio (opt.): Previously a wealthy noble, Kyle was exiled from mainstream society for radical thinking and being particularly anti-Empire. Kyle made his way to several outer rim sectors and there, in the near-anarchistic backwaters, his ideologies quickly took hold and spread like wildfire. Only recently unifying his supporters into the O.R.C, Kyle has long been monitoring the Emperor's health, and believes that now is the time to strike, and that with the empire fragmenting, he has a clear shot at siezing control.
Social Class: Exile
Major Political Ideology: Nationalists
Minor Political Ideology: Authoritarian, Industrialist
Opposing Political Ideology: Anarchists

Warhammer, there's a list of choosable political factions in the documentation zip.

It's not that I don't encourage such things, it's just that... I like things when they're nice and neat.

Basically, use these:

Major Political Ideology: Utopianist (or Socialist, Utopianist is the communist "ideal" while Socialist is the communist "reality")
Minor Political Ideology: Artistocrat (I dunno, there really isn't an equivalent. This one's where rich people should rule.)
Opposing Political Ideology: Authoritarians

Name [of Faction]: Tau'va Heiros Alliance Auxillaries (T'HAU)

Faction Details (opt.): What the "Empire" lacks in manpower and disposable resources it makes up for in technology. The Tau'va as a whole espouses high-value currency in favour of equivalent exchange or automated, cost-free processes.

The T'HAU is ruled not by the wealthy but by the wise, typically one is born into the ruling cadre, though it's membres have not grown lazy or blind. Most members are pale skinned, level headed and highly intelligent.
The faction Goal is to absorb all other factions into a single ideal.

Leader Name: Reaguin "Atsuya" Heiros

Leader Bio (opt.): The child of a minor - yet wealthy - noble, Heiros disregarded the family view of "We rule this land, the lesser beings work it for us" and set about establishing fair trading grounds, raising a free company and, after a breif skirmish, liberating Algol province from the stranglehold of the Aristocracy.
He works with the other ruling cadre members to acheive a perfect, utopian society in which all citizens serve a purpose for the greater whole.

Social Class: Exiled Noble

Major Political Ideology: Pacifists (Sort of. They're after peaceful "unity", not forced conquest. But they will and can use force.)

Minor Political Ideology: Agrarians, Industrialists.

Opposing Political Ideology: Anarchists, Aristocrats, Authoritarians, War Mongers and Isolationists

@All: Ah whatever, feel free to have as many minor/opposing political ideologies as you want. Just remember though, that will make appeasing your faction harder since you have so many ideas to try and satisfy.

@Deathguard: Err, if you're going for an Agricultural/Industrial Sector, use the system name "Algol" instead. We have a starmap you know.

Also, there is a "utopianist" political ideology.

Update:

Manual Finished (I think)
Planet List and Documentation Separated
Planet List 75% done

Game will begin probably right after the New Year, so join now... or else!

Not really sure if or why Utopianist applies to me.
Agrarian and Industrialist came from your list of parties, so I'm not sure what the problem is...

I think he's saying that the planets in the Algol system are more agricultural and industrial than others. Possibly.

Alrighty. Everything is done except for the planet list. The game will start this sunday. Please sign up now so I won't have to make up your income sheet while updating everyone else's. I'm lazy like that and wish to make them all at once.
