Holy friggin batman!
This documentation looks like it's for a PC game. So much number chrunching. Is this supposed to be a fun roleplay or are players supposed to mimic 3Ghz procesors?

I can imagine it now...

THEY'RE ON TO US! RUN! BACK TO THE SENTIENT COMPUTER PLANET!

Well, you don't need to read the documentation to actually play (other than the appendix).

Where's the number crunching? I'm re-writing the resource system right now to... not involve number-crunching or excel-using. Everything I do is kept secret from you, since I don't feel like making stable values that are universal. I'm lazy like that.

Okay, I've just done it. I've come up with an idea for how the resource system will work. It also solves two of the other big problems I had.

The new resource system will be based off of "labor costs", "material costs", and "production costs".

Labor costs will be based off of a new variable, average wage. This will be sent with the tickly PM. Each planet specialization will have it's own, separate wage, so depending on what type of planet you produce it on (for certain goods such as supplies and ordinance, this is a major factor), you'll spend different costs.

Material costs is how much it costs to acquire the material (from the economy). This doesn't apply if you have the requisite materials in your strategic reserves (e.g. earlier production, trade agreements, special events). Prices are set by the player - offer a price (e.g. Produce 2 Durantium, request Duranite for 3.4mc a unit), and see if other players respond. If they don't, the offer goes to your economy. You cannot be rejected, but if you set the prices too low, your factories will go out of business, basically destabilizing the economy.

Production costs are just that. Each planet type will have a production cost, and these number will be posted tickly.

The resource tree will also be linearized and put to simple math, e.g. 1 Durantium -> 1 Duranite, 2 Duranite + 1 Lonsdaleite -> 5 Duranite. (not actual values, I'm still in the progress of making good values.)

Also, you may see huge changes in your income and production tax. This is because I basically put random numbers as these values. I'm not kidding you. I just looked at your holdings and put a value that seemed right. Now, with set income amounts and more easily calculable production amounts, I'll be able to fine tune these.

Nope, I'm still fine tuning the values.

Yes! Finished with the new ruleset. Along with a total and complete overhaul of the economy. Took me a while, but now I've streamlined everything into a confidential excel document for my eyes only. Please download the new documentation!

I would say I prefer the old way (and IMHO it was easier, too).

I get the new system though. And plus, everything costs less! :D

Yes, but I'm going to make it very expensive to get things from one place to another soon enough... hehehe...

The new production system is confusing as feck, can't we just get X amount of that resource per tick?
