Planet List for Tick 1

Yes, the starting parameters are very unfair. However, that just makes getting to the top all that much more satisfying.

---------------

Pirates Step Up Raids on Neutral Colonies, Universal Peacekeeping Force Unable to Keep Up
We are receiving increasing reports of pirate activity in the neutral sectors of Jabbah and Bellatrix. The GPF however, in the state they're in right now, has no power to stop them. They have not caused any major damage, but it is clear that they aren't going away, either. To analyze this situation more, we go to our economy adviser. Sir?

Thank you. If you look at a map of the system, you find that this Pirate Activity seems to be spread all over the place. However, if you look at it from an economic and military standpoint, they are at the middle edges of the galaxy, taking major sectors in Manufacturing and Mining. If the pirates should manage to do major damage to these sectors, then prices of ores and metals would skyrocket. Whether or not this is actually in the bounds of the pirate's capabilities, is rather unknown.

I spend 15 Million on propaganda for Planet Algol V

I'll also spend 17 Million and devote 2 durantium on 1 Frigate

Then I'll cast Magic Missile on anyone in range.

[Uh, Size 7 + Population 6 = 13 Durantium for ships? I think.
So 11 left =D)

Loyal members of the New Galactic Order, I come to you in this pivotal time in the fate of the human race. The actions that we take as a hole will decide the future of our galaxy, a future that must be preserved in good health at all costs. My dream, my hopes, my aspiration, is that we can build a future for our children, a future that is marked by peace and prosperity. A future where the systems of our galaxy can stand under one government, a future of a single, unified nation. A future that we can be proud of. I urge you to do everything you can so that this future becomes a reality. I thank you for your support, and I promise that I will not rest until we can be sure that our children can live in an era of absolute peace and unity.

The fate of the galaxy rests in your hands.

Alrighty then. Tick 2 tax receipts will be sent soon.

The planet list has changed, but that's only because Milgwyn has joined. Since there are no major changes, just know that Milgwyn now owns Hamal I, Hamal II, Hamal III and Hamal IV.

Lastly, remember that this is an rp. Please make atleast some effort to roleplay, as Himura has. I won't kick you out for not, but I won't give you any good events. Yes it's a bit harsh, but it's sort of hard to work out a story around a bleak, lifeless character. Good rping will earn you increased stability also, as your people know you actually make an effort to pleasing them.

Last OOC remark, I just realized I made a really bad flavor mistake. The People's Republic of Tesla is socialist, but I have them commercial planets... Whoops.

---------------

Mighty Grant Made to Malik
Yesterday, a massive amount of money was given to Malik, leader of a newly formed faction. The details of this grant aren't quite well known, but all that is known as of now is that Malik has gained an impressive 78 million credits, and will make an extra 26 million credits for the next few ticks.

Sergetov Visits Nearby Planets in Sadalachbia
Sergetov visited the planet of Sadalachbia IV and it's moon, Sadalachbia IV a in a less than friendly tone. Though the goodwill was apparent, it still could not penetrate the obvious tensions. Sadalachbia and Gorgonea Secunda, Sergetov's home system, have always been at odds with eachother, competing for commerce. Sadalachbia had the obvious upper hand, as it was a crossroads between the mining, industrial, and military centers. For this reason the people of Gorgonea Secunda have always been slightly bitter, a feeling that carried over to the people of the Sadalachbia.

Worsening the tension was the fact that Sergetov had ties with the socialist party, who advocated state-controlled commerce, something that the Intergalactic Trading Company, the major force in Sadalachbia, did not like. However, the visit was not totally in vain. Particularly with the working class of Sadalachbia IV a, Sergetov's cries for a better society struck a tone with the social inequality of the area. The planetary governors couldn't be reached for comment.

Reaguin visits Algol V
Algol V has always been sort of an outcast from it's member colonies in the Algol System - something that has carried over to this new era of instability. However, the visit by the leader of the Tau'va Heiros Alliance Auxillaries has definitely reduced this political barrier. We at the GNC were on the ground, interviewing people, cheering for the new prospects of peace and prosperity Reaguin offered. The planetary government however, was not in session that particular tick (over the observation of an obscure minor political holiday in observance to one of the most influential senators of the planet) and thus have no formal word or decision.

Nothing much new has happened regarding me, so I'll just keep the news report the same as the first tick. I might add in a report later.

Other than that...

In a widely speculated industrial movement, Guilder Heiros has requisitioned just under half (6) of the Duranium production (13) of Algol I.

Specialists report a crackdown on census evaders for the good of the nation, as 10 million is devoted to an interplanetary census.

In other news, the recently produced frigate has been launched, christened the "Defensor Fidei", and production of a new Frigate has begun in anticipation of the growing pirate threat, the "Barracuda". Experts have christened the new fleet "Battlegroup Sword."

It is proposed that these ships be used to establish trade with the far-flung and remote resource bases of Sharatan.

Unrelated to the T'HAU, stocks in Graf-Zeppelin brand liquers have fallen 10%, and a roaring demand has erupted for vintage Merlot wines, circa 2030.

Also, during a personal visit to Algol V, a pledge was made of 10 Million on "literary materials" and "moral-boosting posters, wall-hangings and decorative flora." Heiros went even further on his return six days later, donating 5 million to the indiginous population there to build schools, farming facilities and hospitals.

(This planet will benefit greatly from the ethics of the greater good!)

An executive descision has been made - the T'HAU will indulge in private trade! 5 million in ornamental statues and space-hardy flora, along with literary material and flyers, posters and leaflets donated to the Resource Base Asteroid Belt Sharatan IV, and the Defensor Fidei and the Barracuda have been despatched to the aforementioned Research station. Laden with 3 heavy plating each - filtered from the production of Algol II - on a trade run.

(For credits.)
Breaking News;
Aunsho'Dais, leading diplomat and widely recognised public figure, has made a formal statement in a rousing speech, promising incrased trade and wealth throughout the entireity of the T'HAU nation's many castes and creeds.

We are they, who, in their quest for a prosperous nation must make choices between the damning of our creed and our failure as a nation - are most joyous to announce in this formal intonation that our new friagtes have been dispatched on a trade mission to the sharatan resource outpost. May you prosper, as T'au shall!

@Deathguard: Ehhh... "filtered" from trade? Heavy Plating's expensive, don't 'filter' too much of it or you'll piss off some mighty powerful companies... Not to mention attract the attention of the GPF (who also regulate trade). But do you wish to upgrade your frigates to armored frigates using the heavy plating? With 3 units you can upgrade 3 frigates to armored frigates.

Time for the half-way through news report! The Half-way reports differ from the normal reports at tick ends as they do not contain actual information on players, but rather it's where I make allusions to what the general mood of the galaxy, provide backstory for things, and give people a taste of what to come.

---------------

Segin Spacial Anomaly Under Investigation by Scientists
Earlier this tick, scientists in Segin have announced that they have received funding from the Royal Galactic Armada to begin study of the strange dust that formed along the outer reaches of the system. This dust has always been considered "cursed" by the native people of the system, as it is reputed that should a ship come into contact with the dust, they will experience great misfortune in times to come. This theory has yet to be proved, but so far records dating back from the earliest years of Segin Colonization has shown that very few ships ever return after touching this dust, but it was believed those losses were due to the poor communications between the newly established colonies and the lack of navigational beacons - the Segin colonial government could not afford to purchase the expensive equipment necessary to build these beacons, and the nearby systems weren't in much position to help the people of Segin with this monetary deficiency. In recent times, close to no ships have ventured out to this mysterious dust, partly because of superstition, and partly because Segin was designated a military system, and movement of civilian craft was limited.

Christening of New Dreadnought, SRA Dauntless
The new dreadnought, the SRA Telemachus, was recently revealed at an elaborate ceremony. It is the first ship to have been constructed for the purpose of defense in quite a while. However, a shadow of insecurity and doubt covered the people attending the ceremony. It was obvious the dreadnought was not commissioned because the RGA felt like it...

Compounding on the feelings of the people, many were injured when some of the armaments being carried to the dreadnought exploded. Of course, they were not armed, so they didn't explode at full force, but still managed to kill at least 56 people and leave 452 injured. Many have taken this to be a bad omen of things to come for both the ship and the empire.

However, the day was saved when Admiral Cherkinov, famous for defeating Nagaya's band of roving pirates came up to the podium and, while he didn't serve to reassure the people there was no impending doom, gave a speech how there was nothing to fear. Admiral Cherkinov had not spoken publicly for some time now, and people weren't sure if he was still alive and leading the RGA, but his reappearance was a boost in morale for people around the galaxy.

OOC: Perhaps you mean "Cherenkov"? ;)

"Welcome to the O.R.C.N.N 9 o'clock bulletin. I'm Andrew Stevenson, bringing you the latest updates on the O.R.C. Tonight, we go live to Atlas Ryan, who's standing outside the O.R.C Headquarters."

"Thanks, Andrew."

"What've you got for us today, Atlas?"

"Well, reports are coming in that Mr. Denholm may be increasing taxes in the coming months. He also seems intent on cracking down on corruption and rounding up the O.R.C's budget to find out where all the money is going. We're also noticing large grants to several groups on our planet and it's moons of around two and a half million credits per planet, suggesting he is finally addressing the needs of his people. It seems he's finally getting things in order."

"Thanks for that, Atlas. Now onto the interstellar shipping forecast..."

Please read the first post of the OOC thread for the new production system.

Also, I had a total economic overhaul. All resources have been liquidated, and you may notice major changes in your tax amounts.

Current Production Costs:
Arctic: 3.27
Jungle: 3.03
Desert: 2.84
Mountain: 3.46
Ocean: 2.69
Temperate: 2.42

New Galactic Order Planets Struck With Mysterious Disease
We are receiving reports of an outbreak of Influenza ╚ virus in the New Galactic Order. So far only the Jungle planets have been affected. The reason for this epidemic is still unknown, but something points to the recent increase in activity on the planets. The government has yet to release a total death toll, but it is believed to be in the billions already.

(Excerpt from today's speech) It is with a sad heart and heavy conscience that I come before you today. As you all know, our friends and family on the Planets of Phad I, Phad III, Phad IV, and Phad V have fallen sick with a great disease. I, *pauses, trying to conquer emotions but showing very little in outward appearance*. I lost loved ones too. However, this is not the time to step down. If anything, we stood tall in the face of a disaster - a disaster that only served to pull us together and strengthen us. Not only will we remember those we have lost, but we will look towards the better days of the future. (End Excerpt)

~ Jason Zhorrn

Well, there you have it. A short exerpt from today's speech by Jason Zhorrn, our esteemed leader, has confirmed that he back down in the face of this epidemic that so recently took an estimated 3 and a half billion lives. Standing strong in the disaster that claimed billions, he vows to find a cure for this as quick as possible. Tonight, the NGO is sponsoring a commemoration for all those who have died in this past tick, 4-7 PM in the Millenium Square, Phad VI. Similar rememberances will be held on every planet of the Phad system's respective capital cities. This news will be accompanied by a huge movement to curb the disease and cure all those currently infected: estimated credit costs range in the hundred millions. We hope that the suffering will not continue any longer.

I'm Amanda Clark, and thank you for watching Centerlink news.
35 MC for this tick's worth for the Cure the Disease Project (Much more spending expected to come).

20 MC Relief funds to be split up between Phad I, Phad III, Phad IV, and Phad V based on population.

15 MC Census count

8 MC System-Wide Commemoration on Phad VI.
6 MC Special Community Commemorations on Phad I, Phad III, Phad IV, and Phad V.
4 MC Commemorations on Phad II and Phad VII.

OOC: ^^^^ And you can tell why this happened to me .
