It's because the Rules are in no way Finished, and there not fully compatible with everything else yet. so trying to figure out unfinished rules is like trying to build a fleet with Shipmaker Beta: It a waste of time, when the rules can change right under your nose.

why not just play with the finished version of a lesser product then? It's won't be more work making a strategic map based fleet tournament then moving on to make the GC than making GC from the start. In fact, by looking at the strat map tournament and gaining experience, GC might be easier to make.

But obviously, I'm just talking theory here, not doing hard work. I could definitely be wrong.

Because it would be a lesser product, and I'm not going to settle for serving up a lesser product. That's like picking economy baked beans over Heinz baked beans simply because the economy beans are cheaper - even when you could afford the nicer Heinz beans. If you want to do that, then do it yourself. GC will continue production.

AllStar;

We're not moving mountains here. Mountains of binary strings, perhaps, but not actual mountains. Most of these rules I'm posting up at the moment are just ideas to bounce off of people. When things get more hammered out, you can expect a more comprehensible and understandable rules page.

I think we should start a topic only for CG ship building rules, and let this one for the rest, to make things more organized.

*Sigh*....

No one actually listens to the guy who actually has a nation-based rp going...

My suggestions for taking care of [real world] logistics:
Know Excel? Good. Know Visual Basic? Good. Make Macros.
Visual Aids are so helpful, even to organizers. A nice HTML document in MSWord will do fine.
Steal as much as you from other games, such as maps, graphics, tech names, etc... legally. This isn't released under a license, so you can avoid most legal ferment.

I know this is my first post in here, but why is this in Custom Ships? It doesn't predate ETC, and it has exactly zero ships.

Well, it WAS going to have tons of custom ships, cold war style...

Good question, actually. Moving it to etc. now.

Normandy; I actually use openoffice and used it to make a simple income/expenses sheet.

The map is a moot point as we're making our own, as are the graphics since we're using BSF. The tech names thing doesn't really apply either.

Maybe the first page should be updated with you latest up-to-date musing Arclane.

So far I like what I'm seeing.

Nah. I have a better idea.

Project: Better Idea is now in operation. The new thread is up. It's locked, but I can still post in it. It will be an "official" listing of everything and I'll update it whenever necessary.

Then...what should be doing with all that stuff on the first page?
