I know im not part of this, I just wanted to clear this up. A HEAT round is a round which when it hits, forms a jet of superheated metal to punch into the tank and cook the crew. HEAP are armor piercing rounds in the standard sense which then detonate spectacularly once they are inside, but are no way near as effective against tanks. A hesh round is a bunker buster, as its head squashes, making sure the charge is up against the bunker before exploding, acting like a directional satchel charge due to the velocity it has.Arcalane wrote:HEAT has nothing to do with thermal stuff, silly.
It means High Explosive Armour somethingorother.

While I do appreciate your desire to educate the members of the board, you have made several mistakes in your post.
The HEAT round does not use superheated metal, it uses a short-range jet of supersonic material focused by a shaped charge. HESH rounds are primarily bunker and wall buster weapons, but they are somewhat effective against tanks. They can kill or incapacitate the crew of a tank without penetrating the tank's armor, which is always nice.

MAKE LOVE, NOT SPAM!
You will find that actually, it is superheated metal. The charge is shaped as a cylinder with a cone of metal sticking into the front end. This has a probe sticking out, which has the detonator in. When the charge is detonated, the shape of it superheats the metal and launches it in a jet towards the tank armor. This is what penetrates, as it effectively turns into a super SABOT round, but one which doesn't have the same problem with range nearly as badly. The Boz wrote:While I do appreciate your desire to educate the members of the board, you have made several mistakes in your post.

HESH rounds can be used like that, but only in the most desperate if times, as it is not a guaranteed kill, unlike most modern 1st world SABOT or HEAT rounds.

HEAT? HESH? HEAP?
You guys are playing wayyy to much WarZone 2100
All we're missing is APFSDS and we've got all the WZ terms.
Unless, you visited http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shell_%28projectile%29. That's also completely feasible.
Err, are there any slots left? If not, what are we waiting for?

~~
Abilities/Training:
Rube Goldberg Complex*
Basic Electronics Engineering Training (As part of Academy training)
*Basically, a lot like me. Doing simple things really overly-complex with things you'd never dreamed possible. Sort of a gift-curse. Do anything with anything, but never be able to do things the simple way.
Possessions:
Rusty C-10 Canister Rifle
Anti-Personnel Grenades
Tweaked Personal Cloaking Device
Signal Beacons
Old Vulture Hoverbike
