Next tick shall be sent shortly. Yes I know it's only been 16 hours, but the previous 2 days I had to finish them late, so now I'm trying to get it back into my own time-frame.

@Active Players:
I'm simply going to assume you continue on with the actions you have chosen for the past two days (or day), so you do not lose a day's worth of production. Minus the ship production, of course.

Also, @New players: Feel free to jump in at any time. You will NOT be at any specific disadvantage (remember that just because a planet is neutral doesn't mean it's in pause mode!), other than a purely political one (e.g. no formed alliances/trade yet), but it's still very early in the game for that. Please join! I'm begging you!

Lastly, since Carcer apparently has gone AWOL, his faction is now splintered and the newly formed faction can be taken by anyone, including those with factions (it's called annexation! Just spend a lot of money on propaganda on the capital. Oh yes, capitals. I've decided to implement a new gameplay mechanic, capitals. Simply put, they are where everything is conglomerated and put together. Make sure you always have a clear path from every planet to your capital, or you lose a lot of the planet's income and resources, depending on a number of factors). Make sure you put the names/traits and everything.

---------------

AMC Splinters
Just now you can still hear the shouts and cheers of the rowdy crowd around the newly christened parliament building of the new faction that has splintered from the AMC. We have yet to gain any information of what the new faction calls itself, or who is the leader. It is obvious though that this new faction is incredibly instable and subject to annexation. It is just a question of who gets it first really. The leader of the AMC can still not be reached for contact, though it appears that the leader may be dead, in fact. Not much is yet known about what will happen next, it's anyone's guess.

Sigma Aries XI Changes Allegiance to SUDs
After the touching display of solidarity shown by the Socialist Union Workers of Delta Pisces III, the government of Sigma Aries XI has decided to become vassals of the SUDs. What this means now is that Sigma Aries XI will give the SUDs half of their income and resource production (yes, you still have to pay full cost for production runs!), but will still have control over the planet itself, so any military actions taken on the planet will still be considered to be taken against Sigma Aries XI, not the SUDs, so ships cannot be built on the planet.

Iota Taurus XII Government Overthrown, Becomes Rogue Faction
Yesterday, a coup d'etat was held and the planetary government has now been formally overthrown and replaced by a new, temporary martial government. Relations with all other factions and planets have worsened. However, more importantly, the Iota Taurus XII people have decided to hijack the freighter convoy carrying taxes from Theta Taurus VIIa. No word has arrived from the Fallanassi, but it is obvious they will have to take either economic or military actions against this rogue faction, before the situation escalates and the rogue faction say, joins another large faction.

A messenger arrives for the Lord Marshal: "Lord Marshal sir, we have news from neighboring planets, a faction once split from the Empire has now broke asunder and is calling for our help, but as you can see..." The messenger hands the Lord Marshal a datapad with statistics listed on it. "Our fleets currently are incapable of storing enough supplies to carry them full breathe across the planets' skies."

Lord Marshal Damin: "Very well, if they are calling for us, we shall come to their aid. First General, press into production one Freighter, it should carry more than enough supplies for a full expedition. Don't forget to make a run of the supplies as well. Of course, that will take time. Make a 'donation' of 5MC per planet at 25MC total, to tell the populaces that we will not let them down as their previous government has."

The Lord Marshal stood from his desk and prepared for his plans after the orders of the day were taken care of. He turned before he left to his quarters to cover one more topic of interest.

Lord Marshal Damin: "First General, have Zeta Capricorn V and Mu Sagittarius IX received their second installment of funds?"

First General: "Yes, Lord Marshal."

Lord Marshal Damin: "Good. Let our diplomats that provided those funds know that 10MC of the standard 50MC that went to Zeta Capricorn V is to 'influence' the politicians, and 5MC of the 20MC to Mu Sagittarius IX for the same purpose. It is well and good to have the populace on our side, but politicians are squirmy and need a tight grip to keep them in line and telling the populace to stay with us. At the presence of the funds going to the politicians, make sure they pledge their Oath of Fealty to the Cause. Oh, but do make sure the funds appear to go towards public works and other governmental fundings, rather than to the politicians' pockets, it will give a better image that way."

With that, the Lord Marshal took his leave and prepared for his march through the capital city of Gamma Scorpio I. He invested 3.8MC into a small procession through the streets that would propagate patriotism for the nation and the cause, by distributing the money out to the people.

Construct Ship: Freighter "The Expeditionary", at Kappa Scorpio XII.
Production Run: 14 Units of Supplies on Gamma Scorpio I. (81MC)
(Already deducted from coffers by automated actions) - 50MC to Propaganda on Zeta Capricorn V and 20MC to Propaganda on Mu Sagittarius IX.
25MC in Propaganda to the 5 fractured planets of AMC (5MC each)
3.8MC in Propaganda on Gamma Scorpio I.

Friends, comrades! Our brothers and sisters of the AMC have thrown off the shackles of their decadent overlords, and require our assistance. To this end, an aid package to the value of 10 million credits has been prepared to ease the suffering of the newly free.

Similarly, the noble peoples of Sigma Aries XI have turned to us for protection from an increasingly violent and unstable galaxy, the newly christened VOP Solidarity will be monitoring the arrival of an extra 5 million credits worth of aid.

The actions of the government on Sigma Aries XI, acknowledging the will and the right of their people, is a light to us all, a shining beacon of hope in these dark times, and special printing runs are being commisioned on Alpha Pisces XXI to celebrate their forsight.

Finally, the VOP Stoic Defiance will be joining her sister vessel in orbit of Alpha Pisces XXI as a symbol of our will to stand for all that is fair and just. Truly comrades, it is a glorious time to be working for the good of your fellow man.

Continue Food Run Omega Pisces II (10 units)
Continue Duranite Run Delta Pisces III (28 units)
Propoganda Pi Aquarius X : 5 mc
Propoganda Sigma Aries XI : 5 mc
Propoganda Tau Aries (IIX? is that supposed to be IX??) : 5 mc
Propoganda Eta Virgo (IIX?) : 10 mc
Construct Destroyer : VOP Solidarity, station Omega Pisces II
Construct Destroyer : VOP Stoic Defiance, station Alpha Pisces XXI

...and about supplies, I was waiting until I had enough of a food surplus to do a full production run, more expensive in isolation, but cheaper in the long run I think. Btw, will the agri world still be able to do a food run whilst carrying out a supply run, or is it one or the other?

edit because I overspent, I blame my accountant :P

You can do unlimited runs of any resource.

So, you could do a food run and a supply run. You can't do two food runs, however.

Yes, the base cost is still paid.

Sorry to keep that info from you, but I just never thought about it much...

Next tick will be out shortly.

Also, just a small clarification on trade:

Resources can be loaded on any planet, as long as there are no obstructions between it and the capital.
To put them back into the stockpile, however, one needs to reach the capital.

So, say the AMC trades 5 units of Food to the Fallanassi.

A Freighter can leave from Delta Virgo II, picking up the food and necessary supply.
The Freighter must enter Delta Cancer IV to drop the food.
Then it can go back.

All this can be taken in the time of one tick, as distance is not a problem.

Say however, the Fallanassi want to trade 5 units of Duranite to the SUDs.

The Freighter cannot load supplies and goods at Theta Taurus VIIa, as a rogue planet is blocking a path to the capital.

Also, yes, I realized there is no IIX, but too late. What I mean is VIII, but I'm too lazy to change it.

Famous Astronomer Nicholi Gallileo Theorizes on other Possible Intelligent Races
Famed Astronomer Nicholi Gallileo has recently published a paper on the topic of possible other intelligent races. We would have no way of traveling or communicating [with such races], he states, due to our current state of Hyper-Drive, but he says that there is a high chance such races do exist and could possibly parallel, if not be greater than our own civilization in any number of aspects.

AMC Movement Dies Out, Other Factions Scrambling to Pick Up the Pieces
Yesterday, Collective Prime was forced to step down by the forces of the SUDs and the Korr Imperialists. Both the SUDs and the Korr Imperialists are now scrambling to brainwash the confused and disorientated people of the AMC to join their faction. As of right now, Epsilon Libra III, Xi Virgo VI, and Delta Virgo II have changed their allegiance to the Korr Imperialists, whist Pi Virgo XV and Eta Virgo IIX have changed their allegiance to the SUDs. However, this is probably very temporary as these newly captured planets are still extremely unstable. The country's treasury however, interestingly enough, was captured by the Fallanassi, when a small merchant on a trading visit had stumbled upon an unlocked treasury building and transferred the funds to his own bank account. The Fallanassi government, curious of this sudden increase of wealth, seized the merchant's assets and is now almost 270 million credits richer.

Kappa Aquarius XIV's Government Overthrown
After nearly 4 days of starvation and suffering due to the planet's sudden loss of it's granaries, the angry people stormed the capitol building and have now declared themselves a rogue state. They have not taken any specific stances, but it is clear they are not going nicely. They have said they would "take the supplies by force" if no faction nearby helps them soon enough.

Look, I'm sorry, but after spending the better part of an hour trying to figure out the rules and such to get my planets back up and running, I'm giving up. It's just too complex at this point for me to try and get everything back together again.

As such, the AMC is officially gone.

Now, I wouldn't mind starting again, my absence probably made things more complex for me, and as such I think restarting would probably aid things a bit.

Yeah, that's probably a very good idea.

Basically here's a digested form of the rules, a mere basic set that gives no more than enough to play the game.

Yes, I'm quite notorious for making things over-complicated:

Planets give Income.
Planets can also make resources. Say something like "planet X have resource run" and I will make it so.
To gain planets, either send them propaganda or conquer them
Costs for building ships and production tree are listed inside rules.

That's about all you really need to know to start playing really.

See what the others are doing, they're doing it nicely.

Just about resources, I assume only manufacturing planets can produce consumer goods and the like, or can any planet make any resource, and some ar just better than others?

Well yes, some are better than others. I had an hour to do this and incorporated no balance whatsoever. I was hoping the RP value of the game would balance it out.

But yes, the planets can only produce the resources they... produce.

Don't be afraid to ask a barrage of questions, I'm not in front of you and have no visual aid, so I'm afraid I cannot explain the whole entire thing from top to bottom.

Today, it is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce the unheeded piratory strikes upon an unarmed freighter carrying taxes from Theta Taurus VIIa. We found it alarming that the attack came from Iota Taurus XII, and we will say that they will not go unnoticed. However, we are willing to overlook the initial hostility and instead move to a point where we can work together. We understand that we failed to help it's people in their time of need, and we celebrate that the old, unfair government had been overthrown. Now, however, we are willing to work with the new government in the interests of helping them through the difficulties following a coup.

A dimplomatic convoy is on their way, and we believe it is in both of our interests to work as a team. To show our good will, along with nullifying the damages of the lost taxes, we are willing to spend up to 15 million credits to build a new, supportive government that works for the best interests of it's people. We must, at all costs, avoid a war in such troubling times. However, if you do choose against our gestures of good will, we will be oblidged to move against this fledgling government.

On a better note, are extremely happy to announce that for the next (however long a tick is) we are cutting taxes by 20%. This is due to a very fortunate increase in supplies, in which a small merchant was fortunate enough to acquire the wealth of the old AMC. He has been gifted a generous 4% of the funds as a reward. Our people are our best interests at heart.

In other news, we look forward to hearing news from our friends on Pi Taurus IV. As we continue our good natured sponsoring towards the local communities, we urge them to realize that even a mutual trade would be highly beneficial. As such, we are starting the production of multiple freighters and escorts to encourage trading between
all nearby planets, not just those at Pi Taurus IV. We are currently very interested in opening up a Duranite - Supply/Food trade.

Finally, we extend an open hand to our neighboring planets. To unite is to become strong. Myself, Valin Halcyon, personally guarantee that there are no downsides to even opening up trade borders with the Fallanassi. We have multiple Freighters in production and more planned to come, complete with escorts to prevent any, mishaps. We are a caring nation who wish that every man, every woman, and every child has an equal chance at life and happiness. And to those out there, those that plead for help, we yearn for the day that we may provide for you in your time of need. I swear on the grave of my ancestors that I will not rest until everybody is given a future.

Thank you, and may your gods be with you.

~ Valin Halcyon

I greet you once again, fellow workers of the union. I would like to talk to you today about responsibility, for just as you may be responsible for the growth and harvest of a crop, or the assembly of a holo tube, I to am to be held responsible, for I have the solemn duty to care for each and every one of you.

In recent times words have reached my ears, words that preach haste, and they to have nothing but love for you in their hearts, and as much as the heart of my own yearns to head them, for they advise ways in which even more of our brethren throughout the galaxy may know of the harmony under which we live, In these matters I must let the head rule.

As great as their needs may be, my first priority will always be attend to the needs of those already under the aegis of the unions protection. It is a time for caution and the careful distribution of our resources to those who need it the most. And so it is with a heavy heart that I must allow plaintive cries of planets far outside our reach to go unanswered. For now.

But rejoice to know that it will not always be so. Every day we grow stronger. Every day we are able to spread this beautiful society we have created together, to share our vision, our hope, with yet more souls. And so I would ask of you, think not my actions to be cold and callous when it seems I do not immediately respond to cries for aid from systems afar, know that their requests do not fall on deaf ears, and when the time comes, I will do as I must, but that time must alas, not come immediately, lest we fail to protect those who have already placed their faith in us.

Diplomatic Message to Lord Marshal Damin of the Korr Imperialists

Marshal Damin, forgive me that I drop the appelation of Lord, but we of the union do not accept such a title, and so I can not in good faith recognise it in others. I speak to you in regards to the recent fragmentation of the AMC, for we note that you have taken steps to aid the peoples of these struggling worlds as have we.

I would like to request of you permission in the near future for a small peace keeping force to travel through your space, in order to monitor the situation on these worlds and provide whatever assistance may be necessary. You have my word and the word of the union that we intend no unprovoked hostile action against your forces, nor the worlds currently under your protection.

I anxiously await your favourable reply. Caleb

Yay! Complex political interaction! Woohoo!

Eh, just one note, remember that you don't always need to carry enough supply for a round-trip.

Say Himura.Kenshin (Fallanassi) wishes to reach the Korr Imperialists and back. His freighter starts at say... Theta Taurus VIIa (Ignore the the rogue planet for now).

Traditional thinking brings us to believe he needs 14 supply, 7 on the way and 7 on the way back. However, this is not true.

As long as the Draconian Kingdom has supply to trade (and is willing to trade it), Himura.Kenshin only needs to get Omicron Leo VII, a measily 4 supplies. From there he buys 3 supplies and gets to Delta Virgo II (Ignore the fact that it is rebelling, and hope that the SUDs has no trade embargo against the Korr Imperialists). There he loads, say, 20 widgets and 3 supply (remember that a fleet can automatically carry 6 units of supply). Then we reverse the process.

Had we used the traditional method (14 supply), it would've taken a lot out of Himura.Kenshin's resource bin (14 supply is actually quite a lot since a fleet can move an infinite number of spaces per day, and there are only 48 planets), as well as removing one potential space for goods. However, with this "galactic fueling station" routine, you can extend your range very far with minimal strain on your own resources. And Supply [should be] relatively cheap, at only 3 1/3 million credits per unit to produce on a medium sized military planet (meaning the price should hover around 4.5 to 5 million credits per piece of supply).

The problem comes when there's a trade embargo or resource tariffs, but I digress. We're not currently in that state yet. For those of you curious, we'll just roleplay those out (e.g. the Korr Imperialists impose a tariff on ships moving from the Draconian Kingdom to the SUDs of 10% in either resources or credit value).

Finally, just a note, remember that though you don't control or see it, ships are always constantly brining goods and credits across your faction's planets. Your income is carried by small implied ships, which is why it can be seized and whatnot. That means if say the Korr Imperialists decide to hold a 10% credit tariff on the SUDs, 10% of the income from Eta Virgo IIX and Pi Virgo XV would go to the Korr Imperialists (once again, ignore the fact they are rebelling).

Next tick shall be out shortly.

----------------

Draconian Kingdom Forms, Archaeological Artifact Found
Quite miraculously at the coronation celebrations of the Draconian Kingdom, a new faction vying for power, a strange rumbling was heard, upon which eyewitnesses say "and suddenly a medium to medium-large sized ship burst fourth". The origin of such a craft is unknown, but people everywhere have taken it as a "sign from above" that Justilien Drakan is the true heir to the throne.

Interstellar Economy Back on it's Feet
After the death of Leo XXI, and even far before that, the economy of the universe had been slumping. However, the new generation is fighting back. Hordes of young, innovative businessmen and businesswomen have taken the charge, leading to better lives for many inhabitants of the universe. Whether or not this is simply a small rise in the market is still unknown. We go now to our market analyst, Norad South. Norad South?

Thank you Decema Fort. I believe that this is more of a short-term rise than a long-term rise. With all the factionalism sprouting up, people have become furiously 'in love' with their leaders and are now working their hardest to fulfill the ideals set upon them. However, once this buzz begins to die, it is likely the economy will return to it's bad, slumping self.

One Heck of a Coincidence on Delta Cancer IVa
Just recently, journalists report that a very large cache of supplies of various sorts have been found on Delta Cancer IVa. Estimates range up to 32 units of supplies are being reported. The whole story? Apparently, a few miners had stumbled upon a large, hollow, almost impenetrable building in the earth. Upon reaching HQ to report of this, they found another group of miners just entering to report one of their findings, a small key-like object. It was obvious either discovery would've been quickly forgotten, but it just so happened the day before a large vein of Duranite had been found, leading the miner's owners to be especially vigilant of any discoveries. Combined with the timing of the teams of miner's appearance, this is surely, one heck of a coincidence that led to quite a find.

Rebellions from the Fracture of the AMC die down
After some aid and a good bit of brainwashing, the rebellions on the splintered planets of the late AMC have now come under order. The populace are still very resentful, so it is likely that they may begin to rebel again. However until then, everything is calm on the planets and taxes are once again being collected. The situation, as put by one of the senate members we interviewed, is "serenely chaotic".

Loyal citizens! I address you now as not only your king, but hopefully as your friend. I know of the tyrannies that were imposed on you all by my father, how cruelly many of you were mistreated and suffered under boot of the feudal system employed by the various greedy and corrupt lords that owned the land you all lived one.

But let it be known that that age is over, and a new one is dawning. I plan to dig this kingdom out of the hole it currently is in, both economically and technologically. Many of the Lords and barons did not agree with me, instead wishing to line their pockets off your toil. But I would not stand by it. This is a free land, but most importantly, a fair land. I will not see it sink into the morass it once occupied!

Message to Lord Marshal Damin of the Korr Imperialists

Greetings most honored Leader of the Korr Imperialists. I wish to open up trade between our great peoples. My nation is still young, and such I am unable to produce everything that my people need.

To this end, I would request that I be able to buy supplies from your worlds, I will gladly pay a fair price for them. I believe this will stimulate growth and prosperity between our peoples, but most importantly, help generate wealth, which is so important in this day and age.

Message to Valin Halcyon of the Fallanasi

Greetings most honored Leader of the Fallanasi. I wish to open up trade between our great peoples. My nation is still young, and such I am unable to produce everything that my people need.

To this end, I would request that I be able to buy duranite from your worlds, I will gladly pay a fair price for this ore. I believe this will stimulate growth and prosperity between our peoples, but most importantly, help generate wealth, which is so important in this day and age.

OOC: Essentially, I would like to buy Supplies from the Korr imperialists for somewhere between 4.5-5 mill creds a piece.

Then I'd like to buy Duranite from the Fallanasi, we'll work the price out after the deal goes through.

Build freighter Dragons hoard (90 mill), station at Upsilon Leo IV

And yeah... thats about it.

Eh. MethaneChicken has just sent me a pm saying he will not be able to participate for the next week and a half.

That compounded with numerous other factors has led me to wish to postpone the game and restart it, in the meanwhile making it far simpler and drawing the boundaries more clearly. That and there's a lot of stuff I could've used on the internet that would've simplified it for myself, but I've drawn myself into a corner and can't really do it.

I hope you all understand.

Don't worry, perhaps in about a week the new game with simpler rules and whatnot shall be up.

OOC:

I assume that you mean Delta Cancer IVa. Also, don't hesitate if you ever want to abbreviate my name. =D
