If anyone wants to draw the two species as they are now, at their current stage, before too much happens, it would be cool. I know I drew the Irgise over in the new species X thread over on giantitp, but that's because I was bored in class, and it wasn't that good.
Any art style is ok. Even making BSF ships to look like the species would be cool. Just remember that both of them are now spiky.
You talk to the new comer, you and your clone, and it's clone, pointing out the items and actions and everything you've named so far to it, and it grasps it all pretty quickly. You also try to come up with some sort of team tactics, but even with your minds, they are still just beyond your grasp right now. However, the various rocks and plants are becoming very familiar to you, and you eat several of them to see which are most beneficial (+7 DNA).
You continue naming things, when you bump into one of those spiny cells that you helped/helped you take down the stomper. It's not the one that helped name the ruegga, but it's still one of the two you saw. Or, rather, the two of them were one of those two. Two of the large cells are drifting around, looking for prey, which thankfully you are not.
Suddenly something very, very, very fast bursts out of the ground, climbing surface-ward very quickly. The two cells bare their teeth hungrily, and chase after it, firing their spines at it, intent on taking it down. Then another of those fast things bursts out of the hole left by the first one, then another, and another, and pretty soon it's just an absolute swarm of speed-midgets, and something else with them. Something's wrong with the speed midgets, though, and they seem to all be protecting the large, bloated, slow cells drifting out of their hole. The two big cells have chased the first midget out of sight, so you guess that the four of you... correction, the purple-dot one just split... the five of you all have to work against this midget swarm.
You note there's definitely some more advanced organs in that larger cell, and that there's something sticking out from between the eyes of each midget. It's not normal for them to swarm, although they aren't territorial, and are often found in the same place, and it's definitely not normal for them to protect anything other than their own hides. So why...?

BRAINS, they want out BRAINS!!
lets start frying midgets, and try to identify what the differences between the old ones and the new ones do.
its also a good chance to start creating a new stockpile of food.

Fixed that for you but yes, this sounds like fun. If they're too many of them we could always shoot a strong shot at the cost of health to poison the area (assuming it does in fact do that) but let's leave that as a last ditch effort.

I Agree with melting the migets but lets use small bursts thats allway more accurate

You shout out to your fellows (COME ON, GUYS! I'M RUNNING OUT OF SYNONYMS! NAME YOURSELVES!) to use your third-to-strongest slime jet, targeting the midgets. They all unleash loads of slime, launching enough slime simultaneously to start to murk up the water a bit. Fine by you, since as long as you know roughly where the others of your species are, you can avoid hitting them, and the midgets won't, making them easy targets. You shout out a string of commands, making up a couple new words on the fly to make the sentence actually flow together better. Without, it would roughly translate to "Move Ring Midgets", but with, it should translate to "Form a ring around the midgets". You get three replies, indicating understanding, although there's one remaining that fails to reply. Still, though, you manage to form a staggered ring around the swirling column of midgets bursting out of the ground, firing right through the swarm, and of course not hitting anywhere near each other.
However, the swarm quickly spreads out, making your cross-fire less effective. The speed midgets don't have ears, OR protominds, how did they figure out a tactic like that?
And each time one of you shouts out, a couple midgets make a strafing run at whichever of you shouted. You all start moving whenever you shout, just to avoid the runs, but... speed Midgets shouldn't be able to do that. :?
Combat gets so intense, the thought you had to examine the midgets more closely completely slips your mind.

tactical retreat get back to back cover each other and drown the area in slime,
back to back so you don't hit each other and they can't dive bomb you from an unseen direction

Haha this but midget-masher just because alliteration makes things more enjoyable. Also I suggest that the exclamation mark be part of our name i.e. "Gork!"

You finally decide on a name for your own species, "Gork!" (+1 DNA). Having an exclamation mark built into the name will probably make sentences harder to put together when referring to eachother, but it's better than constantly saying "hey, you", or "Us" (Translated, of course). You also give yourself the specific name of "Midget-Masher", although there's no time in combat to tell the other's "Hey! I named myself Midget-Masher!".
Rather, you shout to the other Gork!s to group up, as these foes may be too strong together. You also state to aim at the big thing in the middle, noting that when you do, the midgets all swarm much tighter around it, making it extremely hard to hit.
The nasty critter's picking up your language faster than you can make it!!!!
You've deduced that those things attached to the midgets are probably somehow connected to the big thing, although you don't see any nerves or flashy lights, you don't hear any sounds, or nuttin'! And however they're connected, their overriding the midget's instincts and controlling them like so many disposable puppets. And since that big thing can here you, that's why the midgets are reacting spontaneously like that.
Deciding that this mean thing has to die somehow, just because the midgets are your food, not it's toys, you and the other Gork! fire at it at full strength. Or, almost full strength. You don't want to strain yourself too badly, and even if you did use the same strength as created that cloud that one time, it would have to penetrate almost six layers of swirling midgets to hit that thing, and "Prreece" strength won't lose so much power proportionally to pass through.
The water becomes so murky due to this, that even the closest midgets start to become faint and blurred. All it is is an orange sheen.

Start eating whatever is avaliable, order of preference, midget corpse, safe plants, rocks.
While keeping the slime beams trained on the big beast at the center, also try crossing the slime beams.

Don't cross streams!
Despite the previous statement I'd like to see what if anything happens when we cross beams so yeah, do what silverware said, beam crossing aside it sounds like a pretty sensible thing to do.

As the massive swarm is definitely moving, and not bothering to deal with the midgets it's losing, you direct the Gork! to the midget corpses left behind, and chew on them (+5 DNA), having one Gork! drop down at a time to eat, while the others keep on firing their slime beams.
Some of the beams cross at various points, since their all being aimed at the same large mass. It barely does anything special, just "focuses" the beams closer together after the split. They don't even get any stronger.

As the third Gork! dives down to munch on some corpsies, another Gork! shows up, attesting to how little you can see in this slime cloud. You also hear some blasting boom sounds, probably belonging to those large spiky cells. Perhaps the two you saw have returned? Or maybe another has shown up.
The Gork! that's just shown up seems sort of different, too. Something cosmetic, but you can't figure out what yet. Since the slime cloud is too thick, and you're busy concentrating on trying to shoot those midgets, you can't really see that well anyways.
