The beings watched the screens intently, one screen in particular taking at least one of their number's full attention.
The cell on screen was splitting, like had been observed several times before. What was interesting was the way it split, not into two, but into three cells. The cell's structure, they knew, was undergoing a rapid metamorphosis, altering it's genetic composition, mimicking it's recently fallen foe, but remaining unique all the same. As they watched, a counter ticked down to zero, dropping into the water the most bizarre contraption imaginable. Almost like a spherical metal frame, with gidgets and doodiddlies all over it's surface, and a sort of goo suspended within it's frame. It floated for a few moments, then slowly vanished, becoming perfectly invisible...

You regain consciousness, having just split. You observe your new, thick overlapping plates of armor, and how your slimy covering keeps the plates from grating each other and making your movement too obvious. Speaking of which, you notice the coloration of your slime has a bit more of an orange tint, now. The toxins it carries, that you produce, are being produced that much more efficiently. In fact, the mere presence of your own toxins are starting to make you a little fuzzy feeling, the shear strength of them being pretty Demonic. Fortunately, the spines that are part of your new armor seem to have veins running through them, glands on the surface to release excess toxins, keeping you from being harmed by your own poisons. They seem to break up on contact with the water, when their not mixed in with your slime, but you're pretty confident that if they scratched something, the toxins would wind up tearing their system a new one.
You then notice the presence of more duplicates than one. Both of the duplicates present are still getting their bearings, obviously just spawned. But as you are the only other one here, where did the other one come from?
You check, paranoid, but the armor from the Tank (+1 DNA) did not spawn an extra one of you.

Yes, I know silverware stated to keep our offspring to a minimum. I couldn't help it though, you guys rolled a critical on your gestation.
Speaking of which, I'd forgotten to ask Third how he determined criticals, and wound up with my own way to do it.

Well, let's go back to the forest. There's nothing here but midgets, and killing them got boring a while ago.

You figure that killing a few midgets would be boring. You bark at your duplicates to follow, and hope that they understand. Doubtful, considering the lack of a brain, but as you yell at them, you feel... something. As if you've figured something out, that hasn't happened before.
Ignoring this, you swim out of the nest, and then towards the forest. You notice that the slime cloud just outside of it has pretty much dissapated, the duplicate investigating it swimming around unable to figure out where it came from or where it's going. You ignore him, and swim into the forest, looking for the strongest creature you can find, to try and prove your superiorety.
You hear a bunch of loud "booms" in a roughly north-west direction, and decide to move over in that direction, curious as to what could be making the sound.

Lets call whatever is making those noises a Boomer, then go and start ripping them to shreds.

Sorry but species B isn't a boomer. no name for it yet.
I think the induction of "LOL" "OMG" and "<3" into the Oxford English Dictionary is a sign of the End Times. Only, instead of a rider on a pale horse, it'll be a gibberish-spewing spastic in a monster truck named "The Dildozer".

You swim towards the booming noise, the booming sound growing more frequent and louder. Finally, you push out through the plants into a bit of a clearing. Broken plants leave a trail, scratches in the ground where... something brushed against it. You follow this trail, examining the wreckage, keeping on the edges. When the plants start to appear singed... You decide to pick up your pace to find out what is so powerful to be able to use explosions.
You finally reach the end of the trail, and peer through the brush at the end. You see multiple cells... So much larger than you, it's kinda scary. One covered in... flying explosives spines, one with suckers blasting out little teeth. And one HUGE one. It seems so large that... Yes, another of the larger of the two fighting ones peals off the huge one, having been so well disguised as to appear as one of the stripes on the beast!

You hear the spiky cell give off a loud sound, to which the larger of the two combatants barely responds. As you watch the two shoot at each other with a seemingly limitless supply of bone material and explosives, you decide that siding with the spiked one would be a good idea. You target one of the stripes still on the largest cell, and fire your slime jets.
The cell you hit slides off the bigger cell, and you can see that while your jet did not go all the way through, it certainly did some damage. The cell stares straight at you for a moment, but apparently you're too well hidden in the brush. It turns away, towards the spiky cell, even as your poisons do their work.
You then fire a second blast, this time at the one already fighting the spiky cell. Not surprisingly, it ruptures the cell's membrane, killing it, as it's been weakened by the spiky cell. But the other big cell is still there.

Shoot at the really big cell the other three split of off. In fact, name the giant cell Stomper, and the smaller, bone-spitting ones, uh, Bonespitters.

That sounds good but first we eat some of the plant we're in.
