Back aboard the Indomitable...

"They're accepting our hail, Captain," said Ensign Latech, the ship's communications officer.

Elonius gave a slight nod of his head and smirked, "On screen."

When Henry's face appeared on screen, Elonius offered a warm smile, or his best approximation of one anyway. His face, while modelled after humans, was obviously mechanical in nature, layered with dull metallic plates that covered sharp steel teeth. Inside his 'eye-sockets', a pair of highly advanced visual sensors glowed a faint shade of blue, as he took in the details of the Starfleet Captain in under a nanosecond.

"Greetings, Captain. Your scans may have informed you that there are no lifesigns aboard our ship. If the comm-line is working properly, you should now see why," He said, in crisp, clear english, "We've been looking for you for quite some time. Well, not you specifically... but Earth, and the humans. Seems like we finally found you."

He frowned and turned his head as the ship's AI sent a silent warning directly into his neural interface, informing him that sensors were reading other anomolies within the nebula, although they were currently unable to pinpoint the direction from which they came, or even what the cause is.

Elonius turns his gaze back to the screen, "I understand that you might be threatened by our heavy armament, Captain, but you have nothing to fear from us. These weapons are only to protect us against those with hostile intentions, who would seek to enslave or destroy us due to our non-organic nature."

The Latairian T-12 "Drill Bit" Buster Frigate

Image
Ship Name: Latairian T-12 "Drill Bit" Buster Frigate

Captain: Lasérrou Noldum(Lay-sair-roo Nol-dum)

Ship ID: 157-Q35

Dimensions:
Length: 45m
Width: 32m
Height: 30m

Crew: 37, room for 13 passengers

Armament:
1 Sonic Disruptor*

2 H.E.A.T. Slug Railguns-Fires a shell with a core of melted Bisarium that explodes on contact, sending molten shrapnel through several layers of hull and physical shielding.

4 40mm Tri-Barreled Buster Cannons-Simple high energy, high explosive weapon. Packs a very strong punch.

2 Nova Interceptors-Fires a concentrated, searing laser beam, vaporizing the projectile.

2 15mm S.B.H.V.H.E. "Honkin' Sneeze" Interceptor-Short Barreled High Velocity High Explosive Interceptor. The "Honkin' Sneeze" nickname comes when one attempts to pronounce the acronym as a real word.**

4 R.R. Plasma Cannons-Rapid Reload Plasma Cannons. These weapons fire a short-lived burst of molten plasma that rips and tears through the enemy's hull. A short ranged brawler's weapon.

*This weapon is quite complicated, and works by first projecting an undetectable hollow beam of plasma so dense it holds a physical form. Within this Plasma, there is enough atmosphere to allow sound to go through.

Very high frequency sound waves are pumped through here, and the resulting vibrations damage the enemy ship in various ways: Hitting the hull will compromise structural integrity of the affected area, hitting a weapon system damages all components of it, including-but not limited to-firing mechanisms, ordinance, targeting systems, diodes, gears, and structural integrity.

**This weapon works by sending off a shell that doesn't actually explode, but feeds off the explosion of the incoming projectile. Due to how it's made, the explosion will never go beyond a certain volume, and will actually decrease in volume due to a chemical reaction caused by pre-refined engine particles. This basically means it only works against things that go boom, and regardless of the boom size, it never reaches the thrusters or thruster reactors.

Notes: The "Drill Bit" nickname comes from a modification unique to this ship(all captains are allowed to modify their ships with custom weaponry). It allows the ship to coat itself with the same hollow plasma beam, but makes the sound waves integrated into the layer itself. The ship then spins at high speed, acting like a drill. This is both offensive and defensive in nature, but uses up a fair bit of power.

This is ship is also very agile in normal flight, able to do maneuvers rarely seen of a ship it's size. This craft also packs a very powerful punch in the few weapons it carries, and is(quite frankly) a very scrappy opponent. Indeed, it can put up a fight against a ship 10x its size.

The main reason for this is simple: The Latair(the species that made this craft) are among the most ancient sentient species in the known universe, and were among the first to achieve space flight. Time has simply made their ships highly advanced.

For example, the reactor can pump out power about equal to a conventional ship *ding* 10x its size. The ship can efficiently handle and distribute this power because of a revolutionary breakthrough in nano technology-no wires. There are no wires. The wires are integrated into the hull itself. One could shove a light bulb into the prow and it would turn on.

Of course, this doesn't happen automatically. If it did, the entire ship could be drained of power with a pair of jumper cables. No, a powerful computer AI monitors this, and prevents this from happening. This powerful AI is also put to other uses, such as advanced scanning.

Besides having your basic run-of-the-mill scanning equipment, the scanner is also able to figure out:
-How long it'll take for each individual weapon to fire(after gathering sufficient data)
-Where your weapons are aiming
-How long it takes for your warp drives to kick in(again, after gathering sufficient data)
-How far away those warp drives will take you
-A general direction of where those warp drives are sending you
-How long your shields will last(again, after gathering sufficient data)
-Any structural weak points/integrities/flaws of the ship

The AI does most of the legwork here. First, it scans all space borne particles of the sounding area, and collects their general behavior when they are not close by to any particular ship. Then, it detects anomalies in their behavior when nearby, say, a missile launcher. When it's full of missiles, it will have a greater mass, and a slightly greater gravitational field. Now, it would have to see the missile launcher go through one entire firing sequence before discerning the different between "full" and "empty".

For a basic energy weapon, the concentration of energy will cause the particles to stir more and more as the weapon gathers up a charge. Some particles are even drawn down the barrel. When the weapon fires, the particles are shot outward. The computer notes the concentration of particles in the barrel the moment before it fired, and the concentration of times before then. It's able to detect aiming by noting electrical charges in the particles(a marker of some kind), light refracting off of them(a small un-see-able laser that designates the aiming path), or even simply "Where is the barrel pointing at?".

Warp drives work much the same way in terms of particle movement, and particles will tend to move in the direction you just took off in. The distance at which you traveled will be determined by past records of particle concentration in past experiences with different ships.

Shields are done by noting electrical charges in nearby particles. A shield at 100% strength is receiving as much energy from its power source as possible, and some of that energy will be given off as a slight electrical charge. The AI notes the levels of this charge, compares them to past experiences with other ships, and determines how much more offensive power is needed to punch through those shields.

Structural weak points/integrity/flaws are done by noting the gravitation of all particles around the ship. Areas with thicker armor will have greater mass, greater gravity, and more gathering particles. The ship notes the area with the lowest concentration of particles.

P.S. I'm gonna make real sure not to abuse this ability. I'll be reasonable with it.

The image of what appeared to be some kind of primitive android appeared on screen. It's face had been obviously been constructed in an attempt to appear humanoid, but the metal plates that comprised the front of the robotic skull were clearly visible and the mild blue glow in the eyes was a dead give away.

Henry was intrigued and curious, but also began to feel slightly aprehensive. The being's appearance reminded him of the Borg, a race he would rather try and forget and with good reason. His father had been one of many who had died in the Massacre of Wolf 359, serving as a petty officer aboard the USS Firebrand.

Officially it was know as the Battle of Wolf 359. But there was no battle, only the Borg brushing aside a 40-strong Federation fleet like so many files, leaving the now famous USS Endeavour as the only survivor.

He pushed his personal feelings regarding the Borg to one side, however. Clearly these beings were not Borg and he was damned if he was going to let himself judge them just because they were cybernetic in nature.

Listening intently to what the robotic captain had to say, Henry was surprised to hear him speak of Earth. This region of space was pretty far from the Sol system, and Henry made a note that their reason for seeking out Earth should be top priority on his list of questions for his inorganic counterpart.

All of a sudden, the captain frowned and turned, as if distracted by something mildly disturbing. Henry quizzically raised an eyebrow, which gave Kevin the brief window he needed to inform his captain about the nebula.

"I've got energy spikes coming from inside the nebula, sir," he said quickly. "I don't think it's dangerous but it doesn't appear to be natural..."

Henry nodded. "Launch a scanner probe into the nebula, jsut to be sure..."

Just then the other captain turned back to the screen and continued to speak, finishing with an assurance that their weapons were for defensive purposes only, against those who might consider enslaving them. Henry could understand that. There were at least several races he could think of that would bat an eyelash at enslaving anybody, let alone inorganic life forms.

"I can understand that," he nodded, replying matter-of-factly. "Now, you say you've been searching for Earth for quite some time... As you might we'll expect, I'm curious as to the nature of this quest..."

"Probe away, sir," Kevin cut in.

"Ah yes," Henry nodded. "We just picked up some strange energy readings coming from the nebula. I assume you've spotted them as well... No indication that they're anything serious, but it pays to be careful... Now, as I was saying, captain..."

But before he could continue, Kevin cut him off again...

"Sir, I... I hate to interrupt again, but... this is serious!"

"What is it lieutenant?" Henry insisted, knowing better than to ignore the sudden urgency in his sicence officer's voice.

"I'm getting massive spacial fluctuations just beyond the nebula's perimeter! 5,000 kilometers distant!"

"On screen! Switch com channels to audio only!"

The other ship's bridge vanished and an image of space just to the side of the nebula appeared in its place. The space there was warbling strangely.

"What the hell is that, lieutenant?" Henry questioned.

"It appears to be some kind of tear in the space-time fabric, sir," said Kevin, trying to make sense of what his instruments were telling him.

All of a sudden, the warbling got worse and a small area of space seemed to 'collapse' into a cloudy white vortex. It quickly ballooned out to several times its former size, sallowing a good three cubic kilometers.

"The anomaly's power signature is increasing by orders of magnitude!"

"Go to yellow alert! Raise shields!" Henry ordered.

It was merely a precaution. The lights on the bridge dimmed and a brief, fairly quiet alarm klaxon sounded. The Adelaide's lower decks began to buzz with activity, off duty personnel scampering to report to their stations. Most of the crewmen who were asleep slept on however, blissfully unaware. Fortunately, this didn't matter because at condition yellow, crew members who were in bed at the time were not required to report to duty, though those who were merely off duty let up and about were...

Regardless of the crew's response to the call, the ship's shields would always automatically be raised to protect the ship. The shielding was actually a graviton 'bubble', projected around the ship, which worked by redirecting the energy of a particle beam, explosion or physical around the bubble and away from the ship itself. It was a very good defense, but it had its disadvantages, most notably in that attacks had a tendency to 'bleed' through the shields, able to cause damage to the ship well before actual shield collapse.

Eventually the anomaly seemed to stabilize, swirling ominously in the distance.

"Analysis?" questioned Henry.

"All I can tell you," Kevin replied. "Is that whatever that thing is, it doesn't conform to any known laws of physics... I'm going to try a... wait a minute sir! Something's coming through!"

"What in the galaxy?"

The anomaly surged and a large, roughly sword shaped vessel tumbled through. It looked to be in an absolute shambles, venting atmosphere and other materials from multiple hull breaches. It seemed a wonder the vessel hadn't been torn to piece by the forces generated from it tumbling out of control.

"Oh my God..."

"The ship's... almost completely wrecked, sir," Kevin gasped, hastily scanning it. "I'm detecting numerous humanoid life signs on board, some very faint... Miracle of miracles though, their life support appears to be stable... I... sir! The anomaly's collapsing!"

The Adelaide's crew could only watch as the vortex which had spat the crippled ship into their area seemed to collapse in on itself and shrink to nothing.

"It's gone, sir..." was all Kevin could say. "No sign of it..."

"Stand down yellow alert..." ordered Henry.

The ship returned to condition green, leaving the lower decks wondering just what the hell was going on. They were confused, but most simply shrugged it off and, if they had been off duty, returned to their leasuire activities. The graviton shield being projected around the Adelaide was also taken off-line...

"Captain," Henry said over the com channel, only just now remembering that he was still there. "I don't suppose you have any idea what that was?"

I'm re-doing my part since it was a bit off.

------
Reversion to Truespace in 30 seconds warned the ships computer. It wasn't a problem, nebulae allways forced ships out of Warpspace; it was better to revert on purpose and not get dragged out.

With a small shudder The Merchant's Pride left Warpspace, their cruiser escort appeared a aplit second later. Captain Higgins gazed out of the forward viewscreen just in time to see a bright flash across in the nebula. The view port glass turned opaque to prevent blindness in the crew. When it turned transparent again the sight shocked the whole bridge: a wreck of a space ship drifted in space before them. "Sssscanssss report lifeformsssss on that sssship, sssir" the reptilian sensor oficer reported. "Quick, dispatch the shuttles. We need to help thoose beings." He glanced at the two other ships out in space and thought 'I hope they lend some help as well'.....

Wow, that was fast assimilation into the storyline...

----------

"Ugh... What was that? Status report!"
"All undamaged functions normal... We appeared to have traveled... Somewhere. There are no navigational beacons here."
"Well, pull out the starmap, we'll find where we are."
"Yes, Lieutenant Commander."

Of course, as they search for their bearings, now would be a proper time for introductions.

Enter Commander John Faraday. Pretty much your average middle-command officer. An average officer that had saved high command's hind-parts more times than they could count. He was one of the most decorated officers of the war. Yet, he refused promotion to high command. He preferred getting right into the action. Unfortunately, this decision would prove to have unintended side effects.

Still needing to fill a position, high command promoted Commander Seville Carlson to command. He happened to hate John Faraday. Intent on destroying him, he began a series of public scandals and placed it all on John. He was quickly demoted to Lieutenant Commander, and sent away to a far corner of the galaxy to well, disappear...

"Sir, these starmaps are inaccurate. They show Epsilon Gamma in alignment with Polaris and Epsilon Theta."
"But that can't be right, those stars have been in alignment for the past millenia, and will stay in alignment for another few centuries."
"Wait, sir, a ship is on the radar... It does not bear any colors."
"Are they pirates?"
"I don't know, we're a battle vessel. If they were pirates, they would've retreated by now."
"Well, try and see if you can hail them."

10ID94X9/Meryl frowned for just a moment as her hail went unanswered, until diagnostics discovered why. The Mu-ohki's and the Indomitable's hails had been sent at the same time, so only the larger ship's signal had been replied to.

Very well, let them handle the first contact.

Slowly, the crystalline organic ship slipped from its cover of the nebula, taking formating alongside but behind the larger robotic cruiser. A brief identity transmission pinged to the Indomitable, letting them know the newcomer was allied - if not directly under their command - and then silence, for the moment.

But only for a moment. One of the newcomers was damaged, leaking atmosphere. First contact protocols or no, rendering aid would almost certainly help their diplomatic efforts. The crystals on the ship seemed to tumble as the Mu-ohki flitted over and then, at close range, probed with its gravitics, slightly clumsily mending tears and sealing hull breaches and in general making the damaged cruiser less of an immediate deathtrap.

OOC: After looking over my ship, I have decided to resize the thing, and lower the number of crew members and passengers. The new demensions have been re-edited into my original post.

EDIT: I have also decided to increase the number of weapons, as it seemed rather underpowered compared to the rest of the ships.

OOC: So, Normandy. Can we assume that, based on Your post, your ship's bridge crew is unaware of just how badly damaged their ship really is?

IC: "Captain! Now I've got two more unknown contacts dropping out of warp off the starboard bow!" Kevin reported. "They're launching shuttles... The shuttles are heading for the damaged ship..."

"Hmm, seems their backup's arrived," Henry mused.

Despite the apparent timely arrival of what appeared to be the ship's backup, Henry none the less felt obliged to give them a hand. It was simply Starfleet's, and his, way to render assistance to those in need."

"Well," he said to the robotic captain, who still had yet to give his name. "Seems our little first contact has turned into a full scale rescue operation..."

He paused for a moment, considering who he would approach the problem. Then he turned to the tactical station.

"Commander Siege," he said. "You and lieutenant Wilcox will co-ordinate away teams to the disabled vessel. Mister Keating, move us in closer to the derelict. Ensign Harris, hail both the cripple and the two newcomers and transmit standard Federation greetings along with our intention to assist the rescue effort. Alright, let's get moving, everyone..."

They didn't have to be told twice. Dante Keating, the Adelaide's helmsman, began to fire the ship's maneuvering jets, and slowly the catamaran-like Akira class began to close on the crippled ship. Kevin and the tactical officer, Tabatha Siege, both left their duty stations and proceeded into one of the turbolifts at the rear of the bridge. Albert Harris, the ship's communications officer, sent out the appropriate transmission and then waited for any reply.

"Bridge to shuttlebay," Henry continued, tapping his com badge. "I'm going to need shuttles with medical supplies and repair equipment..."

"Say no more, sir," came the reply. "We'll have Runabout Mount Gambier and shuttlecrafts Port Augusta and Victor Harbour ready to go in five minutes..."

"Good," said Henry. "Let me know when they're ready to launch. Baker out."

He tapped his com badge again.

"Baker to commander Siege," he said. "Be advised that the Gambier, Victor and Augusta will be launching shortly with necessary supplies..."

"Roger that," commander Siege replied as she stepped off the turbolift. "Siege out."

Next it was her turn to tap her com badge.

"Siege to lieutenant Wedlon," she said. "Have you been getting this?"

"Affirmative, ma'am," the Benzite engineer replied. "I've already taken the liberty of assembling the proper egineering teams..."

"In that case," said Tabatha. "Have one of them meet me in transporter room one, and have a second meet lieutenant Wilcox in transporter room two. Bring a team to transporter room 3 and have another meet doctor Trilina in transporter room 4."

The Benzite noted down the commanders orders in his mind before replying. "Consider it done," he finally replied.

"Good," said Tabatha. "Siege out. Siege to commander Trilina..."

"It seems we are ahead of you, sir," the Deltan replied. "I have medical teams standing by to receive instructions as we speak..."

"Then have one report to each transport room, to start with, I mean..." she ordered. " You will command the team assembling in transporter room 4."

"Very good," the doctor replied.

"Siege out," said Tabatha.

And so the hustle and bustle aboard the Adelaide continued. The teams met in the respective transporter rooms as ordered and were soon commencing to be beamed over to the disabled ship.

Lieutenant Wilcox's team was the first to arrive. There were few lights inside the ship to the team members turned on their wrist mounted torches. The ensign standing next to Kevin scanned the area.

"I'm reading three faint life signs in this direction," he said, pointing down a corridor.

Next came Tabatha's group. They materialized close to what they had surmised was the ship's bridge. The continued up a corridor and came upon a closed door. With the help of a burly Tellerite engineer, they forced the door open to reveal the ship's commander centre.

"Is there anything we can do?" Tabatha said quickly, shining her wrist torch unnecessarily into the well lit room.

The last two teams followed quickly, Wedlon's on the engineering deck and Trilina's near the compartments where they had detected the most faint or fluctuating lifesigns...

As all this was happening, two smaller and one larger shuttle streaked from the bay Adelaide's rear saucer section and quickly made their way towards the empty docking ports.

Henry was watching the rescue of unfold on the ship's sensors and main screen. The only thing that had changed so far was that the robot crewed ship had had a small shuttlecraft sized craft coast along side it, transmit a message to it and then proceed to make passed over the damaged ship, using some sort of combined tractor beam and welding system in a clumbsy attempt to reapir the worse of the external damage.

"Captain," he said to his robotic counterpart. "Is that friend of yours?" he asked, indicating the small craft.

OOC: I'm going to be fairly busy for the next few days, so I'm going to have to drop out. Just assume for the sake of continuity, that the Indomitable got spooked by all the unfamiliar ships jumping into the sector, and jumped to Hyperspace. I might join in again later, when RL isn't keeping me so busy.

OOC: I don't want the whole thing ruined on my account. I have no idea how long I'll be busy. Could be one or two days. Could be as much as a week or more. As I said, just assume my ship got spooked and jumped to Hyperspace. That way everyone can keep going, and there's a possibility I can come back into it later on, if Captain Trek is okay with that.

(Full technical data available here)

Antares Sector, Subsector Alpha Zero Seven, Anomalous Zone.

D.S.S.V Asimov.

The Administrator sat in his quarters, rubbing at his chin. He didn't shave very often, so it felt rather strange to be without his beard for once.

Suddenly, his communicator made it's merry little jingle to indicate he was recieving a message from the bridge. He pulled up the main screen and smiled at the young Comms officer, Doctor Michaels.

"Administrator?"
"Yes?"
"Scans of the anomaly are complete and we're locked into the next jump destination. The data will be analyzed en route."
"Excellent. What's our next destination?"
"The Solaris Nebula, sir. It's been attracting a number of scientists over the last few decades for various reasons."
"Alright. Prepare the jump drive."
"Yes sir!"

Dr. Michaels closed the comm channel and switched to the intercom. The Administrator smiled again as he went for a short nap.

"All hands, prepare for jump sequencing. We gate in five, this is not a drill, all hands prepare for jump sequencing."

The Asimov came to a halt in space, looming ominously as the gating sequence began. A thin glowing line appeared just ahead of it, then opened up into a rectangle, slowly moving over the Asimov like a scanner. However, as it went, it left nothing - the Asimov phasing through into hyperspace - and then closed again, leaving space undisturbed.

~~

Unknown Sector, Subsector Data Unavailable, Nebulous Zone.

Several hours later, in the zone known as the Solaris nebula, current location of the various occurances detailed here so far (OOC: ie, in the thread) another thin line appeared, only a few kilometers off the stern of the U.S.S. Adelaide. It again opened up into a rectangle, moving backwards - and as it moved, the Asimov was revealed as it phased back into realspace - until it reached a little behind the Asimov, and closed again.

Shortly after the crew had recovered from the phasing (it is a somewhat unpleasant experience and invariably results in those unaccustomed to the feeling ejecting the contents of their stomach violently through their mouth) the D.S.S.V Asimov sent out a wide-channel standard audio message in several languages. Quite simply, it said;

"This is the Deep Space Science Vessel 'Asimov'. We are here in the interest of science, and any interference in our mission will not be tolerated. Thank you."

A few moments later, the crew examined the situation as the Asimov started to cruise towards the nebula itself, crew at standby positions, shields raised and point defense guns at the ready. The "main" guns, however, remained powerless and silent, though the shuttles and fighters were already warming up in the hangar.

Emerging from the transports rear compartment Morgan Johnston gave a low whistle "pheeew, with the state of this hanger bay I'm suprised the place is air tight."
"Your right there" her brother, Ryan Johnston, replied exiting the transport and coming down to stand next to her. "I've never seen design like this before though, Its like something out of a museum"
"Come on then", she called to the rest of the group. "Lets find the survivors"

Moving quickly down the coridor, checking each of the rooms as they went, as they headed towards the front of the ship. Then they found them, crushed under one of the large ceiling plates. "These two are dead" Ryan anounced.
"Dr. Jonston, over here" one of the men from the party shouted. "What do you think got him?" The man he gestured to had been almost cut in half, his face smashed in. Ryan bent down and examined the wound.
"What ever it was, it wasn't human" he replied....

Well, all Sci-fi rescue missions need an unknown alien killer on the ship, don't they?

Wait!!! Give us permission to use your people! That always works for RPs.

Anyways...

Well it's pretty beat up, but it's not like giant sirens are still blaring. Sure it would be shredded to pieces in any combat situation, but it's runnable.

I suppose I should be more specific, when I say "percentage damage", i mean "percentage damage to critical levels".

And whoa! You read Asimov also Arcalane?

----------

"We thank you for your assistance. But our engineering crews can handle that. I have only one request though, we were attacked by a strange vessel and request escort to the nearest Hegemony Starfort." By the obvious confusion shown by the captain of the other vessel, John Faraday could tell that he probably wasn't specific enough...

"There are literally millions of them lying scattered around."

By this time the crews from the other ship had arrived. However, it was to their utter confusion when they looked at the parts...

"What is this? This design is unlike any Federation, Klingon, Borg, or any other known intelligent race..."
"What? Federation? Klingon? What are you talking about? "
"What exactly are you people?"
"We are of the Primoris Hemegony. What of you?"

It was obvious to both of them now that something strange had happened. Very strange indeed...

OOC: Anyways, do you think I should be from the future or the past? I'd rather be from the past (you know, forerunners and all that), but future is also okay.

IC: The warp storm came out of nowhere. The Navigators didnt even see it, and the lead was one of the best. The Captain, a Noble from Gothica, thought they had all breathed their last as they simultaneously fell unconscious.

However, they woke. And they feared. For the Navigators couldnt find the Astronimican. And that meant they were lost. At least in time. Another odd occurance, was that the warp was completely smooth, not a single ripple around them.

"Drop us out of Warp" said Captain Koll quietly in High Gothic. The entire crew prepared for the drop, the priests went consecrating the crew, the bulkheads were being prepared to lift out.

"As soon as we get out, I want shields up, and weapons ready. I also want to check the stars to see if we can find out where we are".

The bridge crew were worried at this last order, because if they found where they were then they would know that they were lost in time.

"....two, one..... And we are out" said the Adeptus Mechanicus representative on the bridge, as the ship thumped out of the Warp. crews toiled to get the guns in place and the Void Shields went up.

"I have a fix on our position, we are in Segmentum Solar" said a servitor near to the captain. A groan went out among the crew, they were doomed, for there was no Emperor to guide them now.

"CONTACTS" yelled the closest officer "And one of them is mechanoid and there are several other vessels around them."

"What? By the Emperor, it is a Heresy, we must engage them!" screamed the Naval Commissar.

"Ready all weapons, take us in on attack run pattern 3, do not launch fighters, we don't have enough to loose. Engage all targets at maximum range"
