"Sir, one of the unknown vessels appears to be deploying probes..." Kevin reported. "Picking up instense scanner activity... I... Sir! The Asimov has raised shields and is powering weapons!"

"Do they see a threat that we don't?" Dante wondered aloud...

Before anyone could answer, Albert cut in...

"We're being hailing by the Asimov, now," he said. "On screen..."

It was that imposing robot again... the Asimov's chief of security. Henry noticed that the bot's demeanour seemed slightly agitated compared with when they last spoke...

"MHD-072947c, Chief of Security for the D.S.S.V Asimov responding affirmative."

"Thankyou for agreeing to this conference, Asimov," Henry nodded. "Perhaps now we can get this mess sorted out..."

"Got another signal, sir..." Albert reported. "It's from the unidentified ship that told us what happened..."

“Well, I, Captain Noldum of the starship Drill Bit, am present for the conference. To start with, I’m observing that the ship that has most recently jumped in with us is charging it’s weapons and looks as if it’s going to try and fight with us. I’ve currently instructed my ship AI to take care of my ship until then. As it stands, I think we ought to settle the issue of our attacking new comer before commencing with the meeting. Agreed?”

"Welcome to the conference..." Henry nodded. "This is the chief of security for the D.S.S.V. Asimov..." he said, indicating the warmech. "His ship is the one that is powering weapons. I am hopeful these are just defensive measures, I am correct?"

Before the mech could answer, aa fourth signal cut in...

"This is Reaguin Heiros, shipjoined of the Crykeen, responding. Captains - That ship is charging weapons, deploying pre-emptive flak countermeasure."

"Thankyou for agreeing to this conference, Reaguin Heiros," said Henry. "As I have already informed Captain Noldum here, I am hopefull that the D.S.S.V. Asimov is powering her weapons purely defensively... Am I correct, chief of security? For, lack of a better name..." he muttered.

MHD nodded in response.

"Confirmed. Standard protocol for unexpected jumps into possibly unknown or hostile areas, essentially a code red/full alert status. We will only fire if fired upon first. Understood?"

Look Up
upon reading this:
50% of people will have scrolled up
25% will have looked at their ceiling
The last 25% can now feel smug because everyone else has taken orders from a little sig box.

IC: Captain Noldum nearly facepalmed at his responses.

His fingers expertly moved over the control panel, and one of the ships(NOTE: I mean Anarki's) was designated with a marker that could only be detected by other Latarian ships, and ships that were given access to the special frequency.

Lasérrou finished it up, and sent it to every ship on the conference channel.

"That is the ship I'm referring to. My ship AI has confirmed it's aiming at us."

"Commander, most of the other ships are preparing defensive mechanisms."

"Hmm... fighting would not be our best option. However, I do not trust these aliens - and I still believe this might be an ambush. We should hail one of the ships, and simply state that our weapons system is a defensive mechanism, and only for defensive purposes."

"Which ship should we hail, Tal-Ket?"

Tal-Ket looked at the holographic screen in front of him. He pointed at the Asimov.

"Hail, that ship. Keep our weapons charged."

"Commander, if we keep our weapons charged, I doubt they would think us friendly."

"You are correct - but you forget that the Anthem Cannons take very little time to charge. We will power down our weapons if they do not attack and they ask us to, but we will still be able to defend ourselves. Don't forget that."

"Alright, Commander. Hailing alien ship."

OOC: Great... what are we going to do about Da_Higg's ships? Presumebly, some of the Ragnarok's crew are on board the Merchant's Pride, so we can't really just assume that they warped out or spontaneously blew up or something...

IC: "Oh..."

Henry couldn't help but feel stupid. Stupider still that Kevin had apparantly neglected to mention that another ship might be arming weapons...

"Is that ship arming weapons, lieutenant?" he asked.

"Hard to say, sir," Kevin replied. "I'm having trouble scanning that ship... I think the sensor pallets may have a glitch..."

"I see..." Henry replied, tapping his com badge. "Bridge to engineering..."

"Yes, captain?" the Benzite replied.

"Run a level 1 diagnostic on the sensor array, would you?" he orderd. "Kevin thinks there may be something wrong with the sensor array..."

"We already know, sir," Weldon replied. "It's something to do with that rough ride we just had. We're trying to correctly the problem now..."

"Ah, good," said Henry. "Well, keep at it, lieutenant. Baker out..."

"Signal's clearing up, sir," Kevin reported. "Yep... those are weapon signatures alright..."

"Shall I raise shields, sir?" Tabatha asked.

"Wait a minute..." Kevin interrupted. "I'm reading a transmission from that ship to the Asimov..."

"Hail them specifically..." Henry orderd.

OOC: Anyone who wants to drop out, the jump is a great opportunity to do so. They simply went elsewhere (perhaps to the space fold's originally intended safe destination), and will not be interacting with any of the other ships in this RP.

IC:

Uggh...

Meryl took stock of her situation as she regained consciousness. Her fold had been torn from its original destination, the actual location set to much further away; getting back home would take a lot of energy. The Starfleet ship had requested a conference, but now everyone around was arming weapons. Worse still, the sentient nebula fragment was starting to become sentient and a threat...

She smiled. "Mu-ohki, are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

A silent pulse of affirmation accompanied the ship diving into the nebula - for protection and for speed feeding, as much as the crystalline ship could store. Before long, extra spikes just for energy storage began to form.

OOC: Alright... let's just assume that the Merchant's Pride and her escort were sent somewhere else... I was going to say that that was a problem because (presumebly) some of Normandy's ship's crew would be recieving treatment for their injuries on board the Pride. However, for the sake of ease, I suppose we could just assume that all of the Ragnarok's casulaties that didn't remain on the Ragnarok itself were transfered to the Adelaide (due to more advanced medical facilities than the Pride, maybe?).

Either way, the Merhcant's Pride is now offically declared out of canonical play (though it might well reappear later if Da_Higg decides to reutrn, though he'd have to think up a really good excuse...)...

" We have detected a comm channel being opened by one of the ships.'

" Jump us to comm range."

A short hop through space-time, and the Astari appeared, directly astern of the Federation starship.

" This is Captain Hiron Mislow, Vargon Empire. We have strong reason to believe that many powerful hostile ships may appear here shortly. In fact, I'm very surprised they haven't appeared yet. They are called Xargons, and they are evil.", Hiron transmitted over an open channel, all the time keeping an eye on the long-range sensors.

The miriad of hostile blips appearing on the screen told him all he needed to know.

" They are here."

OOC: COMBAT!!! Though please note the Xargon ships are at least a few AU away.

For lack of an AI, I'd like to play the Xargon. I'm still working on the sentient nebula problem, and I have a few blueprints and whatnot ready (sometimes the nebula people are good, sometimes they're evil). Permission to play the Xargon?

Also, if I am allowed, do you (temujin) already have a bio for the Xargon? Or is the only thing we know about them is that they are "evil".

Go ahead. They are evil, and I may have posted a small description of them earlier. Though only other thing is that they use the same style of FTL as the Astari. Aside from that, have a field day.
