Dwarf Fortress- A Wyrdysm Bloodline Game

Well, due to my loving of Dwarf Fortress (Here) and RPing, I'm thinking of starting a DF bloodline game.

A bloodline game is where one person controls the fortress for one year. At the end of the year, he saves the game and passes it to the next person. These could be fun, peaceful games, or insane, blood-filled games, much like Boatmurdered.

Anyways, I won't start until we have at least 5 people, but I would like as many people as possible.

Oh yah!
I'll be second.
Proposed Embark:
1 miner/mechanic
1 miner/seige
1 noble skills
1 woodcutter/carpenter
1 mason
1 Grower/Brewer
1 Grower

2 picks
1 ax
60 drink
5 plants
15 meat
assorted Dwarven seeds(every variety)
3 puppies
2 kittens

I would like to be one of the miners and take the second year.

Might as well have the mason do stonecrafting as well. First grower should drop brewer for something else, and second grower should do brewer/chef I think.

I don't think you're spending anywhere near the maximum amount for supplies either. That small an amount of starting rations is not encouraging.

Yeah, I'm gonna agree with arcalane. I think we're gonna go

1 miner/mechanic
1 miner/seige engy
1 mason/noble skills
1 woodcutter/carpenter
1 mason/stonecrafter
1 grower/ herbalist (Great if you need extra food)
1 cook/brewer

2 picks
1 axe
80 drink
10 plump helmet (WOO MUSHROOMS)
20 meat
Plump Helmet/Pig tail seeds (Pig tails to start up, plump helmets for food and drink)
4 puppies

Kittens can be traded for. Of course, they are a good supply of meat and bones too...

Im so in.
Any mods?
If so which ones and all.

Turn the guy with noble skills to the carpenter and make the woodcutter a hunter also.
Means we can cut a fair amount of wood with low skills and then keep him useful training crossbow on animals.

Switch the puppies to dogs (puppies would grow over a trip)
Plump helmet seeds. 10 shud do.
And other seeds, 3 should do.
1 cat or kitten. Keeps the vermin down till the first immigrants who usually have one cat and a pack-animal as a pet. (who in hell wants a pet mule?!)

So that leaves

1 miner 5/mechanic 5
1 miner 5/seige engy 5
1 carpenter 5/noble skills
1 woodcutter 2/ambusher 5/marksdwarf 3 (The 'outdoor' loving dwarf or the one who has the most bloodlust)
1 mason 5/stonecrafter 5
1 grower 5/herbalist 5
1 cook 5/brewer 5

2 picks
1 axe
80 drink
21 plump helmet (WOO SHROOMS)
Seeds - Plump helmet 10
- other 3 each
20 meat (varieties, 1 of each lowest cost types)
20+ turtles
8+ Dogs (keep it even for breeding pairs)
1 Cat/Kitten

Dogs are cheap, stick a meeting place at the front door and the dogs will sit there keeping monkies and kobolds out.
Train em up with the hunter if ya wanna train em to wardogs, keep him safer.
Get a butcher up quick cause we will need to train our butcher man, who can probibly be the noble or siege engineer. Kill off all but one of the male dogs leaving the females, kill the pack animals too.
Will give us good breeding stock for the doggies.

20 dogs works well, in the first wave of births you can usually double that number with half coming out as female usually, higher numbers at start mean we can stop cooking the plump helmets and cook meat and alcohol only. And we get lots of food from that set, plenty of leather and bone.

Should be a bit easier to start with than the other two builds.

Locational stuff: I'd recommend finding somewhere with a river at the very least for easy farming and medical water supplies.

Maybe a Magma Vent as well for Obsidian Farming.
Will give a renewable resource for trade. And maybe a chasm to use like a moat. Then with aqueducts and magmeducts to give pools of each liquid within the Dorf Fort.

Well then. I'm glad so much interest has been taken in this, I didn't think it would take off at all. Anyways, Dyjeccu has kindly offered to provide us a seed that gives us everything (Magma, Chasm, Underground River, and flux) and I'm inclined to take him up on it.

Here's our starting roster for the moment, I'll need at least 5 people before I start this up.

1-Inteuniso
2-Derekiv
3-Silverware
4-Dyjeccu
5-
?
?
?

And so it begins.
The proposed starting materials are:
1 miner 5/mechanic 5
1 miner 5/seige engy 5
1 carpenter 5/noble skills
1 woodcutter 2/ambusher 5/marksdwarf 3
1 mason 5/stonecrafter 5
1 grower 5/herbalist 5
1 cook 5/brewer 5

2 picks
1 axe
80 drink
21 plump helmet
Seeds - Plump helmet 10
- other 3 each
20 meat
20 turtles
8 Dogs
1 Cat/Kitten

Does anyone want to be one of the starting seven?

"Ever my heart rises as we draw near the mountains. There is good rock here. This country has tough bones. I felt them in my feet as we came up from the dike. Give me a year and a hundred of my kin and I would make this a place that armies would break upon like water. ...Sleep! I feel the need of it. Yet my axe is restless in my hand. Give me a row of orc-necks and room to swing and all weariness will fall from me!" - JRR Tolkien

By Armok's thirst, count me in.

Good old tolkien, giving us miles and miles of text that all boils down to, "Im a dwarf and want to kill some orks!"

In the Name of Armok our subterranian chappel of blood shall be completed.

Deffinitly need a sacrifice room as the front door.
Activate it when the mechants come through. :p

And importantly does that seed have an underground river/pool?
So we don't ever have to leave the dirt?

What, never irrigated off a main river? It's perfectly safe and easy so long as you're careful. I've done it plenty of times.

no no no, thats what i do too.
its about getting tower caps to spawn, so we can have trees underground.
have infinite wood, magma and water. and we can produce anything we need. and never have to open the doors to allow anything in. =P

Well, I'm willing to start now. We have 4 people including me, and while I wanted at least 5 people, we'll have to use who we have right now. I'm gonna start and post as soon as I'm finished with year one.
