THE GALACTIC MAP

All competitors that are not yet added must request addition of their empire, along with an on map sketch of their empire. You will PM Aralonia to do so.

OOC; THE BATTLE SYSTEM

Step One; Download the Encounter templates (Version 2)

Step Two; forward a fleet roster for an attack to me.

Step Three; Reveal in THIS thread who you are going to attack, and what kind of world it is, as par the Encounter templates. If you're attacking a planet already mentioned somewhere, the defender will decide on the used template.

Step Four; the Defender must now forward a Fleet roster to me. I will reveal them after reviewing. Choose your ships wisely.

Step Five; the attacker will place make two encounters; one with his ships on player control, and one with his ships on enemy control. Make the placement and delays roughly the same.

Step Six; the attacker will forward his encounters to the defender, that will do the exact same thing as the attacker; place your ships, one Enc with enemy AI, one Enc with player controlled. Resend the Encounter with the attacker's ships on player control to the attacker.

Step Seven; forward both completed encounters to me. Must we have a draw, I will play both Encounters again to make the difference. If my check turns out to be a draw too, we have a stalemate situation. I'll write up a system for that later.

Step Eight; LET'S RRRRRRUMBLE! Each of you will play the Encounter that holds your ships on player AI. Post the outcome here, together with a little RP post.

-----------Galactic Holonet feed-Emergency broadcast-------------

We see President Haesrin Sytheusen and Admiral Pelk Bullab moving behind a small pedestal. The President takes the word.

Ladies and gentlemen of the MRA council, allies of the Movement. Earlier today, our long range recon probes we sent out to monitor the Technocracy Juggernaught picked up a transmission from the ship; the first direct contact with the Technocracy. The transmission was brief, but very clear;

A large viewscreen flickers to life behind the President, showing only static. Suddenly, the static turns to black, and the sound system starts working.

You are fools to believe you can oppose us. We have no beginning. We have no end. We are infinite. Millions of years after your civilization has been eradicated and forgotten, we will endure. We are legion. The time of our return is coming. Our numbers will darken the sky of every world. We are eternal. The pinnacle of evolution and existence. Before us, you are nothing. Your extinction is inevitable. We are the end of everything. We are the To'Hol Venaari. And you. Are. Doomed.

Admiral Pelk Bullab, the Ruustirii, takes the word. His garbling voice engulfs the council room in a gloomy mood.

Only moments after the transmission was received, the Juggernaught started moving towards the closest Wormhole Network Relay. We do not know it's target, but we can be confident that an attack will come soon. We have blockades set up around all relays connected to the one the Juggernaught entered. Whereever it strikes, we are ready. We are prepared, and so are our allies. A joint strike fleet, consisting of no less than fifty ships is on standby near the Octanosis relay to attack the Juggernaught whereever it is sighted. That is all.

--------------------Log end---------------------

We see Admiral Pelk Bullab behind a pedestal in front of the MRA Council building. Holocam flashes cover his face as he activates the microphone.

There is good news and bad news to this. The good news is, that the enemy Juggernaught is destroyed and no longer poses a threat. The bad news is...that in doing so...we have lost a total of 31 starships, and have suffered immense personnel losses, with even more injured.

I'm not going to lie to anyone. If those bastards send more of those ships after us, we don't stand a chance. We can only pray they won't.

----------------MRA Council Chanmbers-Debriefing---------------------

Pelk Bullab takes tha word and a viewscreen behind him flickers to life.

The actual battle statrted before the Joint Fleet arrived, as the Cortese defense force had already engaged the Juggernaught. They didn't stand a chance whatsoever.

Image

Our starfighters arrived too late to assist the defense forces, but they caught the enemy of guard, posing at least some threat.

Image

Image

First Cordon jumps in at this point;

Image

And is immediately taken under fire. Second Cordon jumps in, with the ISS Necronomicon as a distraction for the Juggernaught's fire.

Image

Image

The SIUS MP ships prove extremely valuable at flanking the ship, as they take off a fair portion of it's tail, as well as two rear weapons.

Image

Larger reinforcements prove to be the only thing capable of making progress, though. I started ordering larger ships on the scene after each backup request.

Image

The Scinfaxi jump in at this point, followed closely by the Aralonians.

Image

Image

And Entellian armoured cruisers;

Image

In the end, only our heaviest vessels were capable of delivering the killing blow;

Image

Image

The losses suffered were not invane; we have not only destroyed a Juggernaught, but we have also learned a great deal of enemy battletactics, in addition to picking up what appeared to be a black box. This contained not only the ship's logs, but also some non-tactical information about our enemy. The box is beign decoded as we speak.

-----------Galactic Holonet feed-General broadcast-------------

A hastily assembled MRA council waits in patience. Most are low-ranking officials, very few faction leaders are present, mainly due to more important circumstances.

The ambient lighting dims, and the large viewscreen behind the room's empty pedestal activates. The stern face of GCHMS Deputy Chief of Staff General Thomas Darling appears, with an assistant still plugging in his live-feed earpiece. After several uneasy moments, the man speaks.

Honourable council members. It is my pleasure to greet you on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen. As you may have noticed, I am sat in an RNS battlecruiser, engaging hostile rebel forces in our homespace, so this will be a brief message.

The movements of the so called "To'Hol Venaari Technocracy" have recently been determined a threat to several Commonwealth fringe worlds, and as a precaution, the Archimandrite, in agreement with the Commonwealth Government and Her Majesty, has deemed it necessary to send an RNS Expedetionary force to enforce the stabilty of these regions, in the interest of the local populatiions.

However, recently we have found that a grave underestimation on our part of the THV has been made, and the Join Military council have determined that the safety of GCHMS Homeland space itself may well be compromised.

A brief graphic display indicates the proximity of GCHMS fringe space to the recent Battle of Cortese, and the potential moves of THV forces into GCHMS homeland space.

After recent discussions with MRA leaders on the matter, the Archimandrite has decided that The King's Own 1st Expeditionary Force, along with the RNS 40th Fleet should be sent immediately to assist the MRA in future movements. However, the recent Garaday Party rebellion on Ashen III has involved these forces in enforcement and rescue operations, so it is with Her Majesty's apologies that the GCHMS relief forces for the MRA will not be due to arrive for at least 2 weeks.

However, once the 40th Fleet and 1st E-Force have arrived, I shall accompany the fleet into battle alongside such worthy allies as yourselves, and I much look foward to assisting in the extermination of this sudden pest.

Thank you for your time Honourable council members.

The viewscreen fades as the message ends. The room is then filled with low conversation.

------Closed Line Message from TR ship Adler 1------

Visuals connecting...
Connected.

A lean military man with a sharp jaw steps in front of the camera. He wears the ceremonial all-black uniform, used only after a significant loss by the TR or one of its allies. He shows no anger, nor sadness. When he speaks, it seems he is uncaringly reading from a book

He speaks in his native language, subtitles appear below him

Damen und Herren, wir stehen vor...

Ladies and Gentlemen, we stand at the beginning of one of the greatest trials the denizens of our galaxy will face. The TR suffers from a compounded threat--Our Leader, Johann Hegel has been temporarily debilitated by stress-related heart conditions. Of course, our medicines will heal him, but not before the conclusion of this war. In his place, I, Hochadmiral Claude Stauffenberg stand as leader of the Teutonische Republik. It is definitely unconventional to have a military man lead a nation, but at these times, it may give us an advantage over the great scourge descending over the galaxy.

The man suddenly becomes interested in what he is saying. His speech crescendos into a passionate display, revealing a glint of brilliance, as well as insanity. His fist bangs the table on several occasions.

I have no interest in politics. I have no patience for them. Paperwork and mandates will not win this war. Regardless of the support of the Teutonic peoples, I am using executive powers to begin a full mobilization of the Raumwaffe, including all eleven Adler-Class ships, the first of which I speak from now. I speak for the Republik as I say to Haesrin Sytheusen that he has the full support of the Teutonic peoples.

I say to my subordinates that if they are not victorious, and still alive, they have failed their mission. Retreat or fortification is not acceptable either. No one has ever won a war by waiting. I expect all TR commanders on the front lines as soon as possible, for now is a time for audacity. The sooner and harder we hit the Technocracy, the longer it will take for them to attack back. Now is a time for blood and glory.

Er ist einen schlichte Handel. Deinen Blut für ewige Ehre

I will be joining the council for the defense soon. Await my arrival.

After being informed of the battle with the THV Juggernaut, Emperor Skaalerg took a brief break from treaty negotiations with the Empress of the IVL to deliver a brief message to the MRA council.

We must not underrate the gravity of the task which lies before us or the temerity of the ordeal, to which we shall not be found unequal. We must expect many disappointments, and many unpleasant surprises, but we may be sure that the task which we have freely accepted is one not beyond the compass and the strength of the Scinfaxi Empire and the Movement to Restore the Alliance. The Prime Minister said it was a sad day, and that is indeed true, but at the present time there is another note which may be present, and that is a feeling of thankfulness that, if these great trials were to come upon our galaxy, there is a generation of Scinfaxi here now ready to prove itself not unworthy of the days of yore and not unworthy of those great males, the Emperors of centuries past, who laid the foundations of our laws and shaped the greatness of our country. We are fighting to save the whole galaxy from the pestilence of the To'Hol Venaari tyranny and in defense of all that is most sacred to sentients. This is no war of domination or imperial aggrandizement or material gain; no war to shut any country out of its sunlight and means of progress. It is a war, viewed in its inherent quality, to establish, on impregnable rocks, the rights of the individual, and it is a war to establish and revive the stature of sentients. Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the Scinfaxi Empire and its allies last for a thousand years, the historians of the future will still say, "This was their finest hour."

In addition to the forces already mobilized to fight the THV, the Emperor has ordered that the only other completed Kessel battleship and several new Xeres cruisers to be sent to assist the MRA.

The lastest holographic simulations of the Kessel and the Xeres can be found here

[NONAGON, SARIS CITY, ARALONIA, NORTHERN JUALELO]
[PRESS CONFERENCE ROOM NO.83, 1ST FLOOR]

Miri stepped up to the podium and tapped on the microphone several times. “Hello? Is this thing working?” Tap, tap. “Hellooo?” Tap, tap, tap. “Everybody, listen to my song~?”

“Miss Archo-”
“Miri, dammit! Call me Miri!” She sighed and started tapping the notes in front of her with a ballpoint pen.
“Er... apologies... Miri.” The reporter coughed. “We can hear you just fine. May I ask, what event are you calling together such a massive press conference for?”

Miri grinned. “I'm glad you asked!” She slammed a hand on the podium, causing feedback in the speakers. “Ladies and gentlemen! May I have your attention now please! You over there, hijack every television station and radio station in the country! On the double!”
“Aye, ma'am!” A button was pressed, and every single television set in the country that wasn't set to Nyan Fro. Dance Platform, Seikan Hikou, Universal Tour, or any other video game, was instantly switched to a picture of a grinning Archon, the national leader.
“Miri, cue to go in three...” two... one...

[ON EVERY TELEVISION SET IN THE BLOODY NATION]
[PRESS CONFERENCE ROOM NO.3, 1ST FLOOR]

“Ladies and gentlemen of the Royal Sovereignty of Aralonia, I'm Miri Hawke! You know me by now. Firstly, I would like to thank you all once again for accepting me graciously to represent this star-nation. I'll be sure to do a good job, so I won't let you guys down, alright?

“But for the meat of the matter. Today is an ideal day of clear skies and high waves! Several hours ago, approved by the Parliament that represents the conglomerate of colonial systems that make up this glorious nation, a veritable armada of naval vessels of various classes and tonnages loosed their anchors from countless space colonies and colony worlds and set sail to parts known in order to do battle with this great foe. This foe is known as the Technocracy, an intergalactic alliance of evil no-gooders that want to blow up anyone who doesn't agree with them – and I don't agree with them, so neither should you!

“The fate of the Royal Sovereignty – no, the fate of the galaxy! – rests on this upcoming battle! This conflict is only the beginning of our future! We will eliminate all existing obstacles, and the Royal Sovereignty will become known in the far reaches of this universe as one of the greatest powers in existence! Oh, eventually, we'll negotiate with the members of the Movement to Restore the Alliance and spread the influence of the Royal Sovereignty across the whole galaxy! It's not an issue, so don't worry so much, alright?

“Even if we've all but won already, considering the tactical and theoretical abilities of our opponent, no Aralonian citizen is allowed to hold back! We must soundly defeat them in soul and mind! Do your duty for your country! Go to work, and work hard! Go to play, and play hard! Go to eat, and eat hard! Chew fast! Swallow early! Oh, and please, try not to choke, otherwise our medical institutions will have to save lives, and save hard! And that... doesn't roll off the tongue well, does it?” Miri scratched her head, poring over speech notes.

“A man named Clemenceau once mentioned, about war. He said that war was too important to be left to the generals. He might have been right, you know? But nowadays, in Aralonia, things are different. War is too important to be left to one man – or in my case, one woman! Alone, we have neither the training nor the inclination for strategic thought.” The Archon stood up closer to the microphone with fire in her eyes. “No! I will not allow this! I will no longer sit back and allow Technocracy infiltration, Technocracy indoctrination, Technocracy subversion, and the intergalactic Technocratic conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids!

A screech of feedback as a wave of facepalms, headdesks, groans, moans, cheers, jeers, and salutes propagated across the entire star-nation, at what was quite possibly a superluminal velocity.

“On that note... the timer's running down. The aircraft are in the air, and the ships are in the water. I guess the only thing we're missing are troops on the ground, huh...? Ah well, it's not like it matters. Find the enemy and bombard away, servicemen of Aralonia! We're absolutely going to win! Turn those impertinent To'Hol Venaari freaks into riddled, smoldering smithereens!” The last shriek of fury caused additional feedback through the speakers, causing temporary ear damage across several thousand light years.

“Well, that's all there is to that. When I sigh this document,” - At this point, Miri hoisted a scrap of paper that looked suspiciously like a fluorescent pink Post-it note - “we will have declared the Technocracy illegal. Afterwards, the warping begins in five minutes. See you guys tomorrow! Goodnight!”

A holoprojector flickers briefly before giving life to a very clear and opaque hologram of a woman in her mid-thirties to late forties, dressed in the Seraphim Industries Navy uniform, coloured black and red, with five golden Halos on her collar clearly indicating her rank as a High Admiral. She adjusts her collar and raises a hand to brush back her bright, almost metallic silver hair, focusing her dark, pupiless black eyes straight ahead.

"Ladies and gentlemen, of respective star nations, I am High Admiral Cortana Seraphim. On behalf of my brother Aradel, and the rest of the SIUS, I wish to express our deepest sympathy for the many losses during the battle of Cortese. The men and women serving aboard those vessels demonstrated a bravery and courage beyond words, and we mourn their loss."

She raises a hand to adjust the round wire-rimmed glasses on her face, plucking up a datapad from off-screen and holding it in front of her, "Unfortunately, they were not the only lives lost that day. In the midst of the assault at Cortese, a large vessel of unknown type or origin was detected moving through SIUS space, directly towards Cortese,"

"The SINS Eulogy, a Memento Mori-class vessel, was sent to intercept the unknown craft. We are currently unable to reveal any details about this craft, but we believe it may have been of To'Hol Venaari origin. In the ensuing battle, the Eulogy was able to destroy the enemy craft, but not without suffering heavy damage."

The screen briefly flickers, to reveal the following image:
Image

After a moment, the screen flickers once more, and Cortana's face appears on screen again, her expression firm and resolute, "The lives of one hundred and twenty six SIUS citizens were lost in this battle. We of the SIUS prefer to avoid entering into intergalactic conflicts, but we take any invasion of our terrority very seriously"

She bows her head slightly, "We thank you for your time. The SIUS is currently investigating whether this incident and the To'Hol Venaari attack on Cortese are related. Have a pleasant day."

**Incoming Courier Drone -- ID: Tri'K'Thor Scribe XVI**

On behalf of Dictator K'Thor, leader of the peoples of Tri'K'Thor, I bear this message:

It is with the utmost regret that we learned that you have turned away my offer of assistance. Was the offering so slight that you sought to insult my people and our honour by so carelessly brushing us aside? We sought to work with you at preserving this galaxy's freedom and prosperity, but you revealed yourselves to be self-serving and arrogant.

Our envoys to the Technocracy have been met with understanding and offers of mutual benefit, so it is not without considerable relish that I inform you of impending hostilities. The Technocracy have promised to deal with our troublesome neighbours, and soon we shall be able to lend our full might to their cause.

They wish for us to reiterate this message.

And you. Are. Doomed.

May we meet on the field of battle, and may you feel the heat of my blade.

---Personal message from Haesrin Sytheusen to Dictator K'Thor---

The reason why we turned down your assistance, is because we refuse to work with someone who would call himself a 'Dictator'. We realize that your council has power on your world, yet it is you who has now decided to side with our enemies? Forgive me for being blunt, but you are a young nation. It was our intention to keep you out of this conflict for your own protection. Now you yourself has plummeted your civilisation into the hands of the Technocracy. Their fate is now to be enslaved, lied to, and used as willing servants.

I cannot stop you from choosing your allegiance. But heed my words. We do not take collaboration lightly. This is a fight for the fate of seven galaxies, for the future of their inhabitants. Their children. And now you decide that it would be a better 'political' decision to enslave those galaxies in the name of your new masters. You call us arrogant. Yet look what you have done.

You threaten us to meet the point of your blade? Poor man. Do you not see? Are you blind? If the technocracy does manage to defeat us, you will be the first to die when they decide to entirely assimilate your people, and force them to adhere to the false gods that are the To'Hol Venaari. You are truly an insolent fool.

You have made a horrible mistake by defiling the Divine Ones' vessel. You have committed a crime against the Technocracy. Such an outrage will not be let pass. Where they offered you the bliss of oblivion, only to have you turn it down in favor of suffering, and so, suffer you shall. Our fleets are mustered at the outskirts of of MRA space and stand ready to commence offensives against the RA and VSE.

We will not tolerate any of those who oppose the Divine Ones' will. All those who oppose the Tol'Hol Venaari will be purged, and the sanctity of the universe shall be maintained. We will crush you underneath the might of the Technocracy, and wipe you from the plane of existence. After which, you may be absolved of your sins. But until then, we will let you suffer in fear and pain.

---General Transmission from C. Stauffenberg---

The Teutonische Republik holds firm its position of war. We will not surrender, we will not retreat. Current fleet mobilization is at 50%, with full mobilization within the next three days. After that, any and all allies of the Technocracy will be subject to the wrath of the Raumwaffe.

Ladies, Gentlemen, I think it is safe to assume that few of you are military people. Very few of you have experienced the horrors of war, much less that of total war. We stand to billions of civilians and the planets they live on. Fleets will be destroyed. But we are prepared for that loss. We will give everything to destroy the threat. The Teutonic Republik is a force to be reckoned with. Prepare for the assault.

----------encoded FTL data burst from Supreme Master Phybos Ridates-------------

The Order Of Luytean has spent much time considering the threat that is encroaching on the MRA and its allies. The Technocracy, whom we see as vile and blasphemous, should be the ones to be taught their place in the galaxy. While we are still in the process of stabilizing our territory, we are determined to support the defense of your cause with whatever resources we can spare.

To that end, the Inner Circle has authorized the dispatch of the Second and Third Exodus Fleet under Masters Scyllon and Pyrias, and all their attendant vessels. Three of our sacred planet vessels will help in the conflict by providing logistical support and a safe haven to any refugees from devastated worlds. No doubt we will suffer losses, but in the eyes of the Inner Circle these losses ill be inevitable. The Order of Luytean 132 thus pledges its resources, fleets and people to fight alongside the MRA and its allies. We will make the Technocracy feel pain for what they have done.

And you. Are. Doomed.

On board the Blueshift-class star corvette IN Silence, Captain Aeon palmed his eyes when he had heard the message for the fifth time. He was beginning to get sick of looking on with dead engines and passive scanners, while this monstrous thing taunted him and everything around it.

"Conn, Intel; I think we've collected all the information we can like this. Master One still hasn't seen us."

Unless it's just ignoring us, of course. Aeon thought. "Intel, this is Conn; Alright, commence active scanning. You don't have long, though, so make it snappy."

"Aye sir."

Aeon glanced at his helmsman, who nodded at him. "Navigations, set a course for Nav D."

"Conn, Intel; New contacts, sir, they're attacking Master One!"

Aeon swore and slaved his retinal HUD to the Intel officer's. The MRA, huh? Good luck with that... he thought. He realized the entire bridge crew was staring at him expectantly. "What the hell are you all looking at? You got the same briefing I did. Navigation, proceed as ordered. The rest of you, get back to your bloody stations!"

To everybody else, the Silence and her sister ships, the IN Albatross, the IN Farsight, and the IN Bolt would have suddenly shown up as several bright pinpoints of radiation on every sensor in the system when their Gate generators activated. Then, just as suddenly, they would have vanished entirely, dismissed by most as sensor ghosts, or even ignored altogether in favour of the Technocratic Vanguard...

We, of the Qualified and Elected Assemblies of the Interstellar Union of Worlds, greet you in the name of those we watch over and represent the interests of, respectively.

We know about the To'Hol Venaari. We have been watching the Vanguard ship that you destroyed since you first discovered it. Your fleet action was very impressive. However, we fear it may not be enough on it's own.

Appropriately, we have elected to contribute to your side of the coming war the following resources; <DECRYPTION PENDING> You can expect reinforcements to be arriving in your space some time within the next few weeks. You will, doubtless find it difficult to detect them until they engage the enemy, but rest assured, they will be there. Such is our way of war.

All due respect to yourself and your people,
Statisticrat Bahiyya Eversio
