Erm, Anarki. I hate to break it to you, but you'd be the seventh to join. There's only six character slots.
This definitely sound interesting though, and I'll be reading it with great interest.

Except not. I don't think you can have personal possessions.

And I hate to break it to you, natan_j, but if this is anything like the last RP Arcalane did, then it's not "first come, first served". He will choose who he wants to participate, of the people who submit characters.

Previous personality profile. I expect that anyone who captures and stores aliens is going to have at least some data on their existence, and especially on the species. Arcalane can, as usual, do with the data however he sees fit.

Way to copy me. Also, that's bordering (as in, hanging onto the cliff edge for its dear life) on psi powers, you may want to tone it down.

@All the stories: Too many strengths in all the characters. Being awesome is cool and all, but weaknesses are what make for great RP. Throw a few failings into your characters and species, they can't win all the time. So'ki may have magnetics and wits at her disposal, but she is small, not very strong, and runs as fast as befits her size. If you have an above-human-level trait, you also need to have a below-human-level trait, to keep things balanced.

On top of that I'll be screening on a character/player basis. No offense, but if I plain don't like the player then there is very little chance of them getting into the game. If the character outright sucks, then they won't be getting into the game either.

Additionally, no species should have any unusual innate powers. I should have been more specific but you'll see why as time goes by. Note that this doesn't rule out stuff like retractable claws and natural defenses (like the scales on Bov's Crawn) but it does rule out rather more unusual abilities like the "gift". I think I can actually make decent use of the electromagnetic thing though...

I don't know whether Arca wants this to be in any way hard science, but I think both of those pseudo-scientific bullshit "physical traits" are covered by no psi powers.

Okay, here's me filling out on my guy.

Name: K'haunir Drakh
Age: 115 Earth years
Gender: Male
Species: Rillian
Place of Origin: Aurora-5, Rillian colony.
Skills: Strong and fast, with keen senses and quick reactions. Formerly a hired assassin.
Height: 5'6"

Species information: The Rillians are a reptilian species inhabiting a small cluster of colony worlds in an Eastern spiral arm of the galaxy. They are slight of frame, with a narrow body, long, well muscled limbs with long grasping fingers, eyes capable of narrowing to slits, a long jaw with serrated teeth, and a row of spines along the back with skin stretched between them, which can be risen like a sail. While they are small, their wiry muscles can apply a great deal of force, and they are quick to react to stimuli their keen senses give them. While the Rillians have been around longer than most, their progress has been slow. Most Rillians are pretty dim when it comes to matters concerning technology and society.

Unless, of course, it has something to do with killing. The Rillians are an incredibly violent species, priding themselves on hunting prowess. Having almost cleaned their home planet of animal life, they were forced to look to the stars in order to expand. Many Rillians left their species behind. Most Rillian males do not care for others of their kind anyway. Ritualistic duels in which the loser is almost always killed are a regular, everyday occurence, and the death toll from feuds is staggeringly high. Instead, many went to private military contractors and assassin agencies, seeking for a chance to ply their deadly arts for pay.

About K'haunir: K'haunir is no exception to this. Having once been recognised as one of the galaxy's master assassins, his kill list is believed to extend into the many hundreds. He himself lost count long ago. However, Rillians are stupid, not to mention cold-blooded. The cryogenic freeze and amnesia will hit him harder than most. However, unknown to him, the Rillian psyche is actually more complex than even the Rillians themselves suspect.

I did not read your post. I thought, "Let's get to it!" and wrote my species bio. Sorry. Ok, need to add an addendum later. Arcalane, it'll be later today, got to go to a camp.

Name: Dalar
Age: old
Gender: none
Species: Eteru
Place of Origin: Mendal
Skills: cyborg,
Height: 1.8 Meters

Species information:

An incredibly old species which empire spanned over 15.000 planets. They were destroyed over 3 million years ago by unknown reasons. Researchers suspect by war or a great plague. archaeologists have determined that the race was highly cultured and spent much of its time forging exotic artefacts, including Many extremely powerfull weapons.
Many Eteru artifacts still lay burried in the deserted world, protected by automated defence systems. Only a few Eteru have been seen after the fall of their empire, often offering advice just before great events, such as wars.

The species are humanoid in form with pointed ears and totally red eyes. It is unknown how they achieve their extremely old age. The Eteru have used exoskeletons for their soldiers for many years, giving them battlefield superiority, but slowly degenerating their physical strenght. This causes them to be rather fragile without their battlesuits. Though they possess a great abillity to quickly adept to situations and learn new skills.

Subject information

Subject appears to be a captain as shown by the tattoo on his arm. He (or It) appears to have had extreme physical damage, seeing as many of his organs are replaced by cybernetic ones, inlcuding 1 arm. The technology seems to be designed for durabillity and not for strenght, as such the cybernetic arm is not stronger then an average human arm. Though it seems that it can be outfitted with several utillities. Also it allows for AI to perform weapons targetting which leads to great accuracy.

Doc; the matter manipulation of your character is far too exploitable, nevermind that the kind of environment they're from seems kinda... inhospitable to begin with.

Anty; you need to clear up a few more things like skills and perhaps be more specific about age.

Added 3 more folk to the list. The last two slots are on holding 'til I see what else is on offer.

Meh, why not make the changes now?

A ripple in a cool, tranquil pool. The world fades into existence, the rhythmic beeps and throb of machinery reaches his ears. A screen flashes to life before his eyes. It displays ina soothing blue text:

Name: Xil Aa'Shi

Race: Tairius

Gender: Male

Occupational Skills: Expert Tairian biotechnician, skilled in demolitions, and a dabbling electrical engineer.

Species skill: Cybernetic Augmentation

Birthplace: SR-5387

Height: 8'5"

Race info: Tairians have a humanoid structure- they are tall and thin- the average Tairian measuring 7 feet tall. Their heads are elliptical with somewhat stretched facial features similar to those of a human, but they have a third eye that is in the middle of their forhead. It is rarely opened and is used to sense heat. They have long retractable claws that are sheathed on the underside of each long and dexterious finger on a seven fingered hand. Tairians are highly flexible and agile, with skin that is quite smoth and glows faintly red. They originated on the planet Sparrakyaa, where they grew from the early mess of nutrients vigorously, skipping living in the ocean and developing complex systems needed to support themselves on the highly volcanic planet surface immediately. They grew tall and flexible, allowing them to keep their heads above the sweltering, sulphurous surface of the planet, yet able to impale the organisms that lived in the haze that was omnipresent around their knees. They have buil advanced civilizations and devices that utilize the haze to farm giant tubeworms, a staple of their diet, especially in their early developing years. Tairian technology is quite advanced, allowing them to augment themselves in ways most species cannot. They have a wide variety of implants and genetic "upgrades" at their disposal. Many of their weaknesses are dampened by these augmentations, but a few still remain- they are not resilient at all in resisiting low temperatures. Even a temperature below 32 degrees fahrenheit will cause brain damage that may or may not cause amnesia, and is not limited to such. They are also quite frail and have brittle bones.

Personality: He is quite inquisitive and enegetic, which is quite contrary to the normal Tairian personality. He is quite intelligent and will not hesitate to tell you when you are wrong.

Implants: Xil has an implant located in his prefontal cortex that elevates his speed and dexterity by injecting guanfacine, and there is another implant that covers his whole brain and increases neuron conductivity.

Vision begins to fade and distort as the temperature around him rises and his higher brain functions restart.

A new beginning.

Their counsil is sometimes the only thing saving a species from annihilation.

This causes them to be rather fragile without their battlesuits. Though they still have possess a great abillity to quickly adept to situations and learn new skills. Their aligment is hard to figure out, but it clear that they hate certain traits in races, especially stupidity, ignorance and disrespect againts any other race. Because of that they dislike many peacefull species that they see as naive and ignorant. The eteru seem to lack any sense of emotion and purely make decissions on a rational basis. This makes them often seem cold and unatural by other species.

Name: Erin Andiyar
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Species: Human (ho-ho!)
Past skills: Engineering, Poker (Hey, you never know)
Race traits: I assume you are familiar with this race's natural tendancies and abilities, it appears in sci-fi literature every so often.

Indian descent, olive skin, brown eys, slim, lanky, not very curvy, but adequate strength. Reserved and polite, but highly inquisitive about the world. Is able to restrain that inquisitiveness when appropriate. Avoids confrontation whenever possible.

I didn't have much time before I left, but this should be a sufficient sketch of the outline of my character.

I think hard science pretty much died in the wake of non-human species. So'ki's magnetic abilities, if you bother to make a connection, are damned similar to the electric shock abilties of an eel (I was briefly considering this). Arc also said:
I think I can actually make decent use of the electromagnetic thing though...
But I will make a few additions / edits to my profile:

Name: So'ki Ti'lia
Age: 78.6 Alsu'fu years, approximately 23 Earth years.
Gender: Female
Species: Alsu'fan
Birthplace: Xi'ka'l (Mesu 7)
Universal ID: ASF-567-250-769-958
Species skills: Electromagnetic manipulation
Occupational skills: Biology, computers, some piloting skills

Species data: The Alsu'fu are an advanced race, with a highly intricate and tonal language, almost impossible for humans to learn. The Alsu'fans are short (~3 ft tall, ~60 lbs), furred creatures with almost comically large eyes and head. Their eyes, however, are piercing and bright, and their round heads hold a large brain. Although their size makes them slow to run, they jump well and think fast. Their muscles contain a special bio-metalic material that, when triggered by specialized nerves, creates a temporary electromagnetic field strong enough to allow the lightweight Alsu'fans to cling to thick metal surfaces, like a refrigerator or metal I-beam. They regularly use this to pick up small metal objects. Measurements indicate that the electro magnetic field is slightly weaker than that of a neodymium magnet. Problematically, their magnetic skills weaken considerably at any temperature above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, which was never a problem on their colder home planets, but becomes a liability when working in warmer Terran environments. Their dense fur is soft as silk and covers everything but their faces, feet, and hands. Tiny muscles allow the fur to move like rippling water or tuft up in spikes, another device used to convey linguistic information besides speech. Males of the species are larger and stronger, while females tend to have more precise magnetic control. They are very social and speak Terran fluently (a simple language compared to theirs), but hate violence and none of them carry firearms, although many have multipurpose blades the size of paring knives.

Character data: So'ki is reserved, tends not to react to crisis situations, and is definitely not fast on her feet. She is small, even for her species, but she says it just affords her better magnetic control. She usually carries a 6-inch blade and a woven utility belt, apparently something she made for herself as a child on Xi'ka'l ( a cold planet, but managable for the furred Alsu'fans).

Physical appearance: Alsu'fans are about 3 feet tall at the most, furred (see previous about fur), and lightly muscled. To the average human, they might resemble a cross between a skinny dwarf and a monkey, but they have expressive eyes and have finer muscle control than primates. Their fur ranges from golden brown to dark brown to blue. So'ki has gold fur. She likes fish, fruit, the color blue, and long walks in the moonlight couldn't resist.

Something similar to these guys I found on a book cover at my local bookstore yesterday (except larger, and possibly a little less cute):

I suppose I can haz human?

If not, is it a problem if I use a race I intend on using later on?
