Jumping on the bandwagon:

This is a proposition which the Illumi Republic have to abandon. We have blown up our habitats with weapons of mass destruction (varied nuclear ICBMs and antimatter charges) because our dear Chancellor went drunk on three barrels of Terran wine. That would be our official reason.
