IC: Development and construction of the Scourge class trident cannon has been completed. Live-fire tests showed it to be extremely effective against regular War-Orbs, but has difficulty hitting the smaller Slip Shards.

The VA Task Force Delta engaged a alien force consisting of 2 WarOrbs. Thanks to the Judgment Day both were destroyed with only several of our ships damaged and 1 destroyed.
Just then another alien ships jumped in, the one designated as WarFlower. This ship has far thicker armor, which also correlates to far stronger shielding.
The Judgment Day, even overcharged couldn't pierce it. The WarFlower quickly turned on our warships, destroying several with a high-power beam cannon who's power is comparable to that of the Judgment Day. It was able to slice trough our cruiser even with their deflectors to full!
However, it appears to be it's only weapon and it's range and rate of fire leave much to be desired. The Vindicator (Uriel Mk 5) engaged it with the rest of the fleet. By keeping it's distance and showering it with missile and plasma fire it was able to damage it heavily.
The alien vessel did manage to fire two shots with the canon, blasting cleanly trough the front of the Vindicator and cutting it off. After that the vessel retreated.
Be warned. Attack this vessel from long-range with fast-moving units. It's neither fast nor manouverable, but is capable of repairing itself.

What if we were to fire an antimatter Missile into their gas giant homes?It could have a scaring affect upon them, and it could give us an upper hand while they recover.
Another method, although crazy, could in fact work: An ion cannon built upon a ship could possibly fire a crippling shot onto enemy ships, dropping the war Orb's Hull rating possibly into the hundreds before we even encounter them. But to make this useful, many ion cannons would have to be produced, and we are ready to do that. The only problem is: We lack the crystal to make an important part of the ion cannon firing array. If anyone can get a hold of this crystal, contact us immediatly.

The protective shielding would have to be brought down first - then the Ion Cannon might have the destabilising effect.
We propose we muster our fleets best ships.
Out most heavily armored and shielded ships would work as a distraction for the heavy beam cannons and long-range artillery ships.
With such a concentration of firepower we should be able to bring down enemy ships quickly, provided we keep distance as long as possible for maximum plasma batteries effect.

It has been discovered that drone missles containing many small dense objects can obliterate a Crystalline vessel. The missles should explode before contact, allowing the pellets to inflict maximum damage. Production is being redirected toward such weaponry and units are being sent to Crystalline hotspots.
