That is not needed at all. That is just pointless flaming, and after everything which has just happened on this forum, why are you doing this?

The Vaynar Alliance wishes to announce that at 14:24 standard galactic time Task Force Omega engaged and destroyed one of the alien War Orbs, thanks to it's newest weapon, the Judgment Day Tactical dreadnought!
Image

The dreadnought managed to destroy the alien warship while the rest of the battlegroup kept it occupied. During the course of the battle it was necessary to overload the BFB3000 cannon, resulting in damage to some of the ships system. More efficient cooling systems are already being researched.
Aside from the VNC Corageous , which got destroyed before the cannon coudld be brought to bear, all other ships have survived with only lighter damage.

Spectral scans of the War Orb type we encountered have come back, we are convinced that the crystal is in fact a form of carbon-diamondoid structure similar to nanotube achitecture, and has bonds in the form of an equilateral triangular pyramid.

We are curently researching what a antimatter-shock would do to such a crystal.

Scans also indicate some form of non-hyperdrive FLI system.

(to Trashman) Well done! I just hope we (by we I mean you  :( ) won't have to deal with any more of those.
(to Chaos Theory) It's good that people are coming up with new weapons for defense against this threat.

Analysis of the debris should prove most useful.
Once the initial scans are complete we will consider sharing the data with friendly nations.

Am I a friendly nation? :D

Meh, I guess my standards of what constitutes a flame have a bit higher threshold. I apologize.

OOC: I'm refitting the orb slightly, not to make it tougher but I want it to throw some shrapnel when it explodes, it is after all supposed to be under incredible pressure.

Good work, see if you can salvage the debris, find out how it flies, its technology is quite impressive.

Have you ever had contact with the crystal aliens before the initial attack?

by Tsakara
negative, well, actually, there have been rumors of strange crystal monsters deep inside gas giants ever since the mining accident at Daymin, but nothing substantial, and nothing to link that event to the aliens attacking now.

We are more interested in the shielding technology ourselves.

Given that our forces rarely ever leave our borders (teritorial) different FTL travel hold little interest. Any technology that can help us defend our people is considered high priority tough.

Sadly, not much was left of the vessel. It's destruction caused a massive explosion that tore a part of the Archangels' starboard hull. That alone should tell you of it's potency.
Exactly what caused such a explosion is not known to us at this time.
We will keep you updated.

I'll send monitor probes to all nearby gas giants, but I will need some information on the crystal from the Vaynar Alliance in order to detect the ships if they are under the clouds.

 Hey TrashMan, I'll give you 200 cubic metres of Eulinium for a shard of alien crystal. It'll be worth it!
