Back about Kinetic weapons:

How are they bad? Look at our enemy! They are COVERED head to toe in aegis! We shouldn't even be calling them "cheese tactics" if our enemy is simply going to be impossible to kill.

OOC: Indeed. The "Alien Menace" itself is a pile of cheese. "War Orbs"? More like Whore Orbs. Aegis-whore Orbs, that is. No matter. The SIUS is about to resolve this situation in short order.

"This is Karen Vikmoore, with Entari News, and we bring you news on the battle between the Alien vessels and the SIUS ship, the Nrvnqsr. We apologise for the delay, but the contents of our film were held by the authorities before we managed to convince the SIUS Navy to allow us to air it. It appears that the Nrvnqsr made short work of the Alien vessels, and took very little damage in return. Here's some images of the battle."

We need a live specimen or at least a limb to determine what weapons are these aliens vulnerable to for The Commonwealth may be fighting a ground war with these "Crystal Dwellers", they are demolishing cities on the planets that are near Gas Giants. Then replacing them with what looks like mining facilities.
