Ships of Madness Megacorp (Updated 12/19/07)

Madness Megacorp, founded on Earth, has finally started research and development of galactic weapons platforms. Currently, there are 3 types currently in use by the MMC military.

Concentrating primarily on the ideal of "quality over quantity," ships designed by MMC are powerful for their classifications, but manufacturing the ships is costly and time-consuming. Working at full capacity, the entire MMC workforce spent more than six Earth months constructing the
Baron of Ibelin flagship, draining MMC's financial and material resources to all-time lows.

Wishing to avoid current major conflicts, MMC executives have decided to send volunteer colonization fleets from the Sol system to distant uninhabited or lightly inhabited planets and moons in order to elongate trade routes and expand the corporation's influence.

Current population: ~250,000 privately contracted military personnel, ~500,000 volunteer civilians.
Currently inhabiting: Earth and its moon, Mars
Fleet currently consists of: 1x "Baron of Ibelin Mk.III" Monitor-class flagship, 24x "Crusader Mk.II" and "Mk.IIA" Battlecruisers, 72x "Knight Mk.I" Heavy Frigates, 50x miscellaneous colony ships


Nomenclature: MMC-(classification)-(light/heavy) (name) Mk.(mark)

Very nice work. Your scale seems... pretty small though. I would suggest either Heavy Cruiser or Light Battleship for your first one, and Heavy Battleship or Dreadnaught for the second.

Squishy: The Needlepoint v2c has been given a *few* modifications and renamed into the Baron of Ibelin Flagship.

Lizzie: I drew inspiration from some of your ships. ;D And, all the turret-type weapons are modded, yes. I'm gonna work on those some more later. I like the missile launchers on your low-tech ships.

Himura.Kenshin: Thanks. xD I started off with those classifications but when I pitted them against other ships I changed my mind. I guess they're a little small for their classifications but they can fight equally with others of the same type.

Why thank you.
The missile launchers are made that way by giving them a limited arc of 1 and setting the deviation to 85. Clipsize 3.

Need tester help.

Please download and test the Crusader. Are the forward port and starboard lasers too weak? Any other comments? Thanks.

Balance it against your OWN ships. Lizzies wank beamers do 80 damage, so actually trying to balance with us is very tough...

And yet an 80 damage beamer can be deflected soundly by a 500 damage section with the requisite deflector mounted on said section. If the AI was faster in calculating what section needs the deflection, then ships would be more easily survivable.

Atrum, it's hard to balance it against my own ships when this is the first set I've ever made. If I had more ships I would've done that.

Also, I only asked for the Crusader to be tested. I'm pretty sure the lasers on that ship aren't "wank." I'll agree with you if you think the Baron of Ibelin ship is a little wankish.

The colors are really good. :) Very stark and sinister. Can't comment on balancing because I don't know much about that. :(

Excuse me but it's 70 damage on the VH1. Get your facts straight.
2ndly as Aralonia said, 500HP deflected sections bounce em off quite nicely.
3rd, remove the stick from your butt.

I smell allot of hostility here... And it was quite unwise to senselessly started flaming Lizzie's ships Atrum...
