Oh noes, newbie custom ships! D:

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Oh noes, newbie custom ships! D:

Post by Ethril »

Well guys, I suck at big formal introductions, so I'm just gonna say "hi".

Hi!
These are my ships... Nothing particularly awesome, especially in comparison to you guys, but they're neat. No floating weapons (well, maybe a couple...) or tangled webs of parenting, at least. :P
Most of them are capable of eating stock ships alive, but they're actually beatable by a couple of Hestias and a Cronus or two (I've done it personally). Just don't expect them to stand up to your cold war ships or anything.
First .rar is most of the ships (and a bunch of others that I'm too lazy to screenshot ), and some empty hulls (in .sb2 format) if you want them.
Second is the cliched army of robot ships that I'll actually go into some detail about.
EDIT: Third is random stuff that I've made since then, including one new drone that doesn't work quite how I intended. Highlights are the Duelist and the Flash, I'd say.

http://www.wyrdysm.com/battleshipsforev ... /ethy2.rar
http://www.wyrdysm.com/battleshipsforev ... /ethy3.rar

Now, onto the handful of screenshots that you're lucky I remembered to get. There are more ships than this, but those are my older, crappier ships, and I'm half asleep right now so I couldn't be bothered to screenshot them, crop the screenshots, convert them to .png, upload them, then copy the link.
I got the cooler stuff here anyways. Be grateful, I took thirteen whole screenshots for you. >_>

Okay, first up, is modified stock ships. Some are minor alterations (I didn't upload some of those), but some are big enough that they're just barely recognizable as relatives to the original.

The centerpiece one with the visible aegis bubble shielding is the Thetis V2. It focuses on damage over time, but it has plenty of time to spare with its long range and shielding.
The buglike one next to it is the Charybdis V2.
It's actually able to outrun a dead slug now, and it's a TANK. 4 (or 5, if you count the aegis) deflectors, 5 flak guns, abaltabitilvitive (I can't spell) armor, and plenty of HP. It's meant to get right in the middle of things so it can use all its guns at once, although I tweaked the firing arcs so it can actually focus its shots a bit now. It also has a powered up (but not too much so; i think i gave it 10 damage. Yes, I know that's per frame.) shock beamer that fires in most directions.
Also visible:
Hestia Delta (aegis one with the ugly armor flaps).
Hax0r Peitho (Aegis)
Moira Xb (Different alien tech)
Charybdis B & Charybdis Mod (2 deflectors and a nanomatrix, respectively)
Proteus Beta (Missiles)
Hestia Alpha B (Extra boosters, and I tacked on a beamer just for fun. And I know the name is now "alpha beta". Don't tell me.)
Zelus Beta (Beams and flank armor. It's actually frightening how effective these are in groups)
Hecathena (Guess which one this is)

Now we have ORIGINAL ships (yay!)
Image
Image
Shieldbeetles. I came up with the name after I finished the hull. Can you guess why? :P
From top to bottom is the Shieldbeetle One, Two, and Three. They each have their own strengths but can be used interchangeably for the most part. On the right is the Shieldbeetle F. It's faster and is best used flitting around near the enemy. That beamer has 360 rotation, by the way.
Over already? Huh.

BEHOLD THE GREAT WEDGE OF D- Wait, what do you mean that's already been done? Crap.
Image

Anyways, here's this big blaster-heavy ship. I haven't named it yet, so it's just called "experiment" for now. The glowy part IS supposed to be an engine, by the way.

This one is pretty cool if I say so myself.
Image

The Mega Zelus.
RUN, MORTALS! THE MEGA ZELUS SHALL DEVOUR YOUR SOUUUUUL!
And it's not slow either. Hell I think I made it faster than the normal one.
If you want to use it, the "giant core" (as well as a few others) is in the first link, in the subfolder, as "bigcore1". I think I did best on the Pirate one, to be honest. I couldn't do a good looking alien one, though, and the standard core is kind of small in proportion with the others. Well, I tried.

Oh dear. Could this be a joke ship?
Image

Image
KAMEHAMEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!1!1one
Takes twelve episodes (read: 60 seconds) to reload, but it'll kill anything in one shot.
I'm kinda proud of the deflector thing, actually.

END OF DISC 1
PLEASE INSERT DISC 2

Aaaand I'm back.
Now for something I think is pretty neat. It's an army of robotic ships bent on taking over the universe or some other overdone plotline like that. Lots of variety here, folks.
Here are the small ones.
Image
Image
From left to right, top to bottom, is:
Artillery Drone, Burst Drone, Bypasser Drone, Defender Drone, Disabler Drone, Disarmer Drone
Distractor Drone, Fighter Drone, Interceptor Drone, Jet Drone, Miner Drone, Guardian Drone (this one was done when drivers still pierced flux projectors)
Repair Drone, Rounder Drone (shots that go in circles... maybe a tachyon would've been better than a weasel... Oh well.), Shell Drone (doesn't work properly because of dodgy hit detection :?), Sniper Drone (Awesome when micromanaged).

Now for the bigger ones.
Image
Image
Left to right: Carrier Drone, Crusher Drone (DON'T let this thing catch you.), Destroyer Drone, Wall Drone.

(zomg background stuff) The drones have AI, and some of them can even direct others, but without supervision they will begin to go haywire.
Here's said supervision.
Image
Top left: Drone Controller (Surrounded by Assist Probe, Guardian Probe, Tank Probe, and Warrior Probe). Top right: Drone Overseer.
Bottom: Drone Overlord.

These ones are self-aware (oh noes), and are the controlling mind behind the rest of them. The probes are seperate from the drones in that they have no AI and are more like the overlord's hands.
The overseers are also connected to the overlord, and are typically spotted behind larger groups of drones, being that the overlord itself resides in its lair (the planet where it was created, which is now a barren wasteland after all biomatter has been purged. I TOLD you it was cliched.), constantly obsessing over making itself more perfect. The big squareish "ship" is just its latest "body". The worker drones are busy building a stronger one, which should be finished by the time the overlord wins a game of solitaire.
For a computer, it's not very good at card games.
The small "controller" satellites are placed to extend the overlord's reach. They constantly produce miniature kamikaze drones for self defense.
Note that the probes and Overlord have extreme range. They'll attack you from the other end of the map (if you're using default settings...), and stay annoyingly just outside of your reach (unless you're using fast ships with fair range).

SO... Whaddya think? There are more ships than this but, as stated, I'm too lazy to get pics of them.

I'll assume that means you like them.

Anyways, I'll start working on getting the rest of the ships some pics... Nobody wants to download something they don't know anything about, right?

Those drone ships are cute. I can imagine swarms of them being really annoying, especially with the different specializations.

I like those too, but I really like the idea of the shielding on one of those ships.

Plus, the two large ships, one being the huge wedge and the other which you described as rather cool, are pretty impressive.

Oh yeah, ALL HAIL THE MEGA ZELUS.

Truth! It certainly looks like a threat.

I think I'm getting some of the ship overload too though, not sure where I'd start. For the Drone Wall though, I might think something other then the circle piece for the center. My old shield ship had a circle piece for the center too, and Railguns kept bleeding through it.

Yeah, railgun shots bleed through pieces with holes in the middle (circle piece, new "core armor" piece). The thetis v2 used to have the "core armor" as the shield sections, but beams and railguns went right through it, so I swapped to the shield looking one and bulked it up a bit.
Thing is with the Wall Drone, they won't go through that circle in the center because of its proximity with the "wall" pieces. In fact, the reason I put the circle there in the first place was because beams and rails just went right through the space between them.

Anyways, I totally forgot about screenshots for the rest of them. I'll get back to work on that. I actually had more right from the start but I didn't feel like cropping them.

The mega zelus is right up on the top scales of aestheticly pleasing ships i've seen so far.

Fresh batch of screenshots, right out of the oven!
Image

This is the ASV-1. Full name is "Awesome Shield Vehicle".
I just wanted to do a silly acronym and tack a number on the end for added coolness 8)
Anyway, it can shield an entire side at once, but its offense is lacking.
Is it just me or do shield ships always have quadblasters?

Moving on...
Image

The Alpha Wing MK2. You get 3 guesses as to why it's called the alpha wing. :P
The MK1 was made a long time ago, my second ship (after the hellstorm mk1, we'll get to that in a minute). I accidentally saved it in that one version where everything got set to depth 0, though, so it was lost because I was a dumbass and deleted it instead of fixing it. It wasn't too spectacular, though. Just a smaller version of this with a megabeam instead of a shockbeam.

Image
The Backblaster. I wanted to make a ship that was weak in the front, so I made this. Obviously you want to keep it on broadside AI, unless you're good enough at micromanagement to keep it facing away. The Teller is supposed to have 2 shots, but I can't figure anything out with custom modules. :?

Image
Blast Destroyer. I actually have it classified under "cruiser", but I already had something called the blast cruiser, which is ironically smaller than this. I deleted it because the parenting was a mess and it was ugly and worthless anyway.

Image
Yay, explosives!
Top right is the Hunter Mine. It tracks targets at a moderate speed then blows up.
Top left is the normal Mine. It's stationary, but it explodes much more violently and can take more of a beating as well.
Bottom is the Flare Mine. The boosters are just there for aesthetics, for the most part. (they're not supposed to all be facing forward, though. I realigned them after spawning it.)
Basically, think of a much weaker, short range version of the Supernova Device. Funnily enough I didn't know about the SD when I made this.
Either way, do NOT get close.

Ooh, civilians.
Image Image Image Image Image
Top left pic: Unarmed Ship, Civilian Ship 1-4.
Top right: Militia ships. They're just heavily modified civilian transports. Think pirate ships except even more hastily constructed and without stolen goods. (That deflector on ship 2 was bought expensively from military surplus :P). Ship 1 has a homemade "Shrapnel Cannon", which is a 21 damage flak gun with a lower clipsize. Take that thing OFF of interceptor mode.
Mid left: Miner ships, yay! Top to bottom is Mining Ship, Heavy Mining Ship, Pirate Mining Ship (They stealeded it and putted more guns on it D:!)
Mid right: Militia bunker. The sections are supposed to be uneven. The bigger ones have more custom hp than the smaller ones.
Bottom: Police speeder. gatpulses aim forward only, lancet has 1 shot. The "spike wings" and the "hat" have custom hp, and the ship itself has lower. I made a larger ship too but it's ironically less effective.

Image
Escorts! Comes in 3 flavors: Left, Right, and Double scoop.
Note that the AI sucks with these things; it always exposes the WEAK side to the enemy instead of the side that actually does stuff, until it gets blown off and THEN it flips around, but by then the deflectors are gone or out of energy. :?
I just couldn't resist pressing the M key, though.

Image
The Uber-Hax Deflector Ship. Self-explanatory. The Gosling reloads in about half a second. Very overpowered, although I'm betting the cold war ships could eat it alive. It even LOOKS like a twinkie.

Image
These are some of my earlier ships. Left one is the Hellstorm MK.II (First one was lost the same way as the first alpha wing). Bottom right is the Beam Cruiser. Can you say, "overpowered"? Top right is the Bombardier (Original, huh?). Yes, it DOES have 2 gluon bolters.
Pfft, only 2? Get a load of THIS:

Image
FORTY-EIGHT. This ship has FORTY-EIGHT GLUON BOLTERS.
That is a LARGE NUMBER.

Back to sanity:
Image
Untitled. Yes, I named it Untitled, reason being I couldn't think of anything. Inspired by this neat little lego beetle-robot thing I made one day. In fact it looks almost exactly like that. It's a mean little ship. Fast and hard-hitting.

Wait, sorry, I have to show another crazy thing.
Image
The Deployer. That is a ludicrous amount of demeters, no?
Yeah, it's nothing compared to some ships, but still. Its only "normal" weapons are two scatterbeams with really tight arcs. There's a teller launcher snuggled in the back, though.

Image
Fort Awesome.
Again, I couldn't think of a better name. Yes, it was inspired by the Charybdis, although I did NOT use the empty hull as a base... Er, did I? I can't remember.
It's a tough nut to crack, but tossing enough beams at it will make it crumple like a wad of paper.

These are kinda cool looking
Image
Organic looking ships are cool. Middle one is the Fang, big one is the Doomfang, bottom one is the Deathclaw.
Yay for original names. *waves flag*

WARRIORS IN SPAAAAAAACE
Image
Image

The Gladiator and the Wizard.
The Gladiator is a close-range brawler. It has spikes (short range mining beams) on the shield section, and the other arm is a plasma lance (shock beamer of pwning +5)
No point defense or long range weapons. It relies on its considerable speed and heavy shielding+armor. Just catch them and the Lance will rip them a new one.
The Wizard is long range. I think I screwed up on the Deiterling, though. I can't figure out custom modules. Anyways, it has LIGHTNING BOLT (scatterbeam), MAGIC MISSILE (repeater), a knife (mining beam), bubble shielding (:D), and it can summon a familiar (uber long lasting demeter with stupid amounts of damage. Too bad it still dies in 1 pointbeam. Really long reload time, too.)
That's enough for now.

But wait, there's more!
Image
The Fusion Patrol Craft. It has the combined pieces of a Zelus, Proteus, Thetis, and Aedon. It also has their combined stats, as you can see in the pic.

Image
Pirate Battlecruiser. One of my earlier ships, as you can see by how it looks nothing like other pirate ships and has way too many guns all over it.
At least the parenting is good.

Image
Guardian Station. I made this BEFORE fleet HQ was created, ok?
It's pretty tough what with the 4 nanos and the flaks and the pogeymahnz with the jello pudding pops and the shoobie-doobie-doop-shamma-lamma...
Sorry. Had a bit of a Cosby moment there.

Nothing compared to this guy, though:
Image
The Ultra Guardian. It's damn near invulnerable; it has enough deflectors to cover every section except for 8 (the 4 holding the deflectors, and the v shaped pieces holding the aegis rectangles). It's supposed to protect the ships inside of it, so it's just another one of those wall ships except it doesn't move and it covers more than 1 angle.

Image
Mobile Battle Platform.
It's basically invincible if you're skilled with the super deiterling. It hits pretty hard too. Of course, the AI just sits there taking hits like a dumbass, which this thing is NOT good at doing. It's like a paper bag. With guns.

Small stuffz
Image
Strike Jet, Strike Speeder, Mini Gunboat.
Strike Jet is pretty tough, as well as fast. It's capable of dishing out a fair bit of damage, too.
Strike Speeder is interesting, although it doesn't live up to the speed part of its name very well. It's best used for taking down small, fast ships.
Mini Gunboat is just that. It's a tough little guy but it can't survive forever. Put it in a spot where it can use all its guns at once and it'll work fine, though.

Moar small stuffz
Image
Heavy Scout Ship, Heavy Blaster Platform, Shielded Defense Platform and Aegis variant.
The little ship is like a baby Hestia. It's slow for a ship that size, but it's kinda tough.
The platform has a lot of hp, but it goes by fast because it has no armor sections.
Shield platform is basically the same as the ones the Fabricator makes, but it has an extra defense ring. The one with the Aegis is a pain in the ass until you remember that since it's a stationary target with no point defense, a plasma torpedo will smash it good. If you don't have one of those, it's still just a single blaster. An annoyance at most.

Even moar
Image

Crappy little fighter ships I made the other day.
Small rounded one is the Thorn, its "brother" is the Spike. Blocky one is the Cudgel, and the darty one is the Slice. (I plan to make a Dice at some point)
The Thorn is like a bee. A very, very ANGRY bee. With a laser.
It's good at shooting down ships of similar size, but with enough time and patience, (and dodging skill) it can put a dent in bigger stuff too.
The Spike is its big brother. Marginally slower, but with a lot more armor, and a better gun.
The Cudgel has a 5-round, 360 rotation gatblaster. It's slower and clunkier than the others but it's tougher too. The armor plates work well against projectiles, but beams tend to clip through them.
Slice is basically worthless against other fighterish ships because its turning is not enough to keep up with them. That would be a problem if that's what it was supposed to do. It's meant to harass larger, slower ships. It's fast enough to keep away from them, and heavily armed enough to hit them. The scatterbeam only has 1 shot per clip, I'm not sure why I did that.

Now for the big ugly one
Image
This is The Unstoppable. It's not ACTUALLY unstoppable, but if it were the only custom ship in existence you certainly would think so.
Anyways, it's big, fat, ugly, and TOUGH. Guns on all sides, and all manner of modules. It's basically a massive mobile base. When you strip off the side "ass plates" it's a lot less ugly, though.
Shock beam in the middle has boosted damage and reload time.
I once managed to beat it with (a lot of) stock ships, but that's because the AI doesn't seem to understand that if it stops trying to turn around to hit the zelus with 1 gun left that is flying circles around it, and instead shoots the cronus that's ripping holes in its side plates, it wouldn't die. Had I been controlling it (rather than the army of smaller ships), it would have won. :?

Aaaand that's all of them. I don't think I have any left.
Comments, complaints, anything?
