Another newb with ships

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Updated with most of the armour. The ugly red colourscheme is just a placeholder until I can work out a proper one.

Agreed. The red sections are actually hurting my eyes, it simply contrast too much. But don't go overbord with the grey, just enough so you end up with nice blocks of red and grey sections.

In the custom color menu pull the slider up more to the white. I guarantee it will look better.

Personally, I doubt grey is going to go well, since it will be nigh-indistinguishadle from the substructure.

So I'm trying yellow and red.

Those colors are way too saturated and cause serious eyeburn. I think some of the section usage may be good, but it's hard to tell without going blind.

No it doesn't, the colour scheme is becoming even worse :?

And what's wrong with grey? It the sort of colour you use when you want to make people focus on certain sections/areas and ignore others. For your currect ship this is highly recommended

simply using less saturated colours will do he doesn't need to go all greyscale on it

The overall structure of the ship looks too flimsy.
Change those yellow sections to purple. Some more gray may also help.

I... what? Jesus Sheep-Fucking Christ, 25Kst. Is there really a need for you to call for a completely arbitrary color scheme change with every other post? Sure the colors could be less saturated, but how the fuck exactly will purple of all things help?

Sometimes, I just don't understand you.

...Actually, make that all the time.

calvin, just desaturate your colors already. The ship will look less cartoonish even if you decide on hot pink for your next color scheme if you just water down your paints a little. And by that, I mean desaturate your colors.

How would purple not help?
I mean ever heard of green-purple-orange? :|

Like EVA01? I wouldn't call that the shining example of a good color scheme... :|
Desaturate first. Its not going to help anything if its still BRIGHT PURPLE and BRIGHT LIME GREEN and BRIGHT ORANGE together...

Where as... Less Saturated Tones yield a much better result.

(finally! a use for forum text color!)

Three random ships that I made in the meanwhile.

I doubt that will go well. Green and purple might be able to fit, but orange just won't.

The colouring on the big ship is still too much. I think you should just give up on it for the moment.

That's because the other three ships are actually pretty good. Thay have a nice balance of simplicity and detail. These ships actually look, to an extent, like modernised versions of the stock ships in the game. They're definatly a lot better than that big ship you've been working on for a while
