As competition for trade has increased, many Terran trading houses have found that having the best sales pitch is often not enough to guarantee winning a contract. A new trade war has begun as the merchants arm themselves in order to preserve and expand their trade networks. In addition to clashes with fellow houses, an influx of privateers and other cutthroats from the untamed Frontier has also caused problems for the trading houses. Some minor households have already fallen, their treasuries depleted becuase they were unable to protect their trade fleets.
Whether it is simply for corporate prestige or the very survival of a trading household, maintaining a well-armed navy is now viewed as essential for the mercantile houses.
House Delori
House Delori's immense wealth from mineral trading has allowed it dominate Terran politics, as a member of the household has sat on the Imperial throne for the last three centuries. As competition has increased, the Delori house has found that its virtual monopoly in the mining industry has been broken by several new trading guilds operating from the Frontier. Determined to reassert their authority, the leaders of House Delori began a new program of warship construction. Today the Delori Mercantile Fleet consists of hundreds of vessels whose main purpose is the escort of the Delori trade fleets and the defense of House assets and is the largest and arguably the strongest naval force maintained by any of the trading houses.

Re: New, Unnamed Fleet
I like the style and colouring, it looks really well-made, and all the sections fit so well together. Looking foreward to bigger ships with the same style

Re: Mercantile Fleets of Terran Space
I seem to have misplaced or accidentally deleted both the ship files for those two ships and the other couple of ships I was working on. Honestly though, I don't think that was much of a bad thing, becuase I built them before Kaelis released his latest section packs. For the last couple of hours I've been working on the following ship and throwing together a bit of fluff.
Anyhoo, here's the WIP "King in Yellow" class Assault Cruiser.
EDIT:
More complete version.

Re: Mercantile Fleets of Terran Space
On the second ship, at the back there are sections that are yellow, but are orange on the first ship. It looked better with the orange sections at the back, the colours seemed to flow better
There are also a lot more doodads at the front than the back, it feels kinda unbalanced. I like the front of the ship, simply because there's more detail, and it looks more interesting

Re: Mercantile Fleets of Terran Space
I see what you mean about the change in detail going from front to back, I'll fiddle around with it and see what I can do with the back.
Also, here's a smaller ship.
