Nutter's little fleet.

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Well the upper one is supposed to be another generic cargo transport while the lower one...well you can't really change a generic ship much, now can you...Except maybe if you throw some paint on it and call it nose art.

However, I'm stuck with a bit of a block since I can't seem to figure out a name for it. Current contenders are Green fairy or green muse.
Just might translate either of them to some better language. The nose art I'm planning on adding ain't helping either.

Okay time for a Necro.

Post by Nutcase »

I've been going down with a bad case of err...nostalgia last month so I kind of skipped this place.

But now that I got over the traumas that came with somebody milking my favourite childhood franchise dead, I've got something to post.

Something's wrong with the following picture. What is it?

looks like you've changed all the sprites - there's a lot less contrast which means you can't see the details. i preferred the last set.

Pretty much.
I remade the sprites to my own design, leaving only a black outline.
Though I think I might have overdid the black purge or didn't do it enough.
I shouldn't have left the outline.

i think that the black outline's pretty important to define the sprites. what they really need is more contrast, they're all too bland...

I rather like this.
The section usage is well done.
The only thing that bothers me is the... I forgot what section it is but the light gray section in the middle behind the small gun. Flipping it might help it to keep in the flow of the ship.

You mean the Stock 17?
Like this?

Note: I forgot to save after changing the sprites. Shouldn't take long redoing it, though.

No. Although that doesn't look too bad eiher.

The section (Not the stock section) a little behind and above it.

Oh you mean the ones up top.
They're actually an extension of the Stock21s(I think they're 21 anyway).
Although now that I look at the pics again, I definitely overdid the black purge.

Note: I'm slightly drunk today so I might not make much sense.

Facepalm.

I bothered to look up what it was called. WaW_Sec01. They're the ones that need flipping.

And you're drunk? Exactly how old are you guys around here?

Just enough that nobody bats an eye.
And yes, I knew which ones you meant.
Dead centre of the ship, two PD guns each.

With the first ship, the turret doesn't need to be depthed so that it's underneath the sections. At the momment it looks a bit random to have that single turret sticking out in the middle

With the second ship, the front half feels lacking in sections, compared to the back half which has a lot more detail and looks a lot better. The front could be more beefed up, so that it compliments the back.

Well with the first ship, I wanted to make it look like the turret is inside the ship itself since it kind of looks odd is its centre sticks out over other sections (for me anyway) and because my subconscious would kill me if I made it an independent turret with it's current stats. Though I am considering moving it above one of the engines.

As for the second ship, went and widened the frontal part though I'm not really sure how I should approach detailing it since I need large, flat sections for the guns.
That and the front is supposed to look much less fragile to the rear of the ship which supposed to be pretty much the only way to get rid of it (frontal assault gets shredded by means of shell wall).
And the details are my way of telling "Aim here for massive damage!" since I'm kind of opposed to putting shinies on my warships.

TL DR: Made it fatter, unsure on how to make its face prettier than its arse. Other than putting a paper bag over it, anyway.

By the way, it's largely inspired by This huge picture.

EDIT: The Dart. The smallest result of my fighter project. This one is slightly bigger than a Stock9.
First combat test of a squadron of Darts against a ship equipped with anti fighter cluster rockets
(The closest I could get to cluster missiles) should be coming up when it's uploaded now.
