Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Thanks!

I might do a King George V class (if I can find a good quad turret sprite) or the Hood later.

EDIT

Image

The King George V class

Consists of: the King George V, Prince of Wales, Duke of York, Anson, Howe

King George V

The King George V, the first ship of the class, was completed just as the Second Hyperspace War was declared after the Federation broke off contact with the Mintaka star sector as it launched its "Blitzkrieg" lightning attacks, capturing many smaller planets and star systems before felling one the main pillars of the Federation, the French colony of Epsilon Eridani. It was immediately assigned to the First Home Fleet as the flagship of Grand Admiral Tovey, in charge of defending the British colony of Vega together with the slow battleship the Rodney. It did not see much action beyond its taking part in the destruction of the pride of the Mintaka fleet the Bismarck, which had been making flank speed towards the captured Epsilon Eridani after destroying the Hood with a lucky shot that detonated the aft railgun magazines and blew up the core. The Bismarck had been crippled by a torpedo hit to the engines and the KGV rapidly reduced the multimillion mark warship to a smouldering hulk, before escorting cruisers cored the ship with a torpedo.

Prince of Wales

A considerably unluckier ship than the KGV, the PoW opened its involvement in the war accompanying the Hood to do battle with the Bismarck. The PoW was in no way ready to fight with workmen aboard still calibrating it's railguns and the 20 year old Hood, though impressive looking, was positively antiquated in comparison to the Bismarck. Several minutes after the Hood opened fire the Bismarck landed the shots that cored the Hood, before shifting fire to the PoW, which immediately took several hits to the bridge. Retreating with radar jammers on, it limped back to Vega stardock to report the defeat.

Several months later, the PoW was deployed to Capella with the Repulse as a show of force to the eastern systems where rumors of rebellion spread. When Polaris broke away the fleet (Force Z) went to disrupt landings in Antares, and was ambushed by G-4M Strike Torpedocraft and G-3 Nells just before leaving the Capella. It was promptly hit on the engines and the crippled ship was easily dispatched with several torpedoes.

Duke of York

By the time the DoY was finished the war was well underway, and it only saw action in the Gamma Draconis system where it was instrumental in the destruction of the Mintakian battlecruiser the Scharnhorst amidst heavy meteor showers.

Anson, Howe

These ships were finished when the war was drawing to a close and only saw action bombarding Polaris.

It's been two days since the last post and I've got new content so I suppose it would be ok to bump?

New style:

Image

The SD-10 Flanker Assault Destroyer

Armament (metagame) :
1x Twin Medium Beam Emitter
10x Heavy Laser Cannon
2x Interceptor Beam

Image

Image

This medium sized destroyer packs a serious punch in the form of a twin beam emitter in the bright, glowy core. This allows it to take out even cruisers if they get close enough.

Good lord....that thing is sweet. I love the little side exhaust things, a definate sweetness. The glowy core is also pretty nice as it is the eyecatcher.
1 nitpick, either alpha those pointbeams or change the sprite to match SWA sections.
good job though, and please, keep up the good work
naysayers will be shot

Both of those ships, especially King George V look BEAST.

Keep up the good work. x]

New ship!

Image

The ECM(DD)-10 Disruptor Destroyer

Armament (Metagame)

6x Heavy Laser Cannon
2x EMP Torpedo
2xInterceptor Beam
1x Flare Gun

Image

A combined force of two Flankers and one Disruptor on live-fire target practice runs

While the Disruptor class of heavy destroyer has little weaponry of its own, when working together with friendly units it can effectively paralyze vessels and distract their point defence guns. If escorted well, a small battle group consisting of several Flankers and a Disruptor can easily take on lone heavy cruisers with little damage to show for it.

@Doogie12: Advice taken, pointbeams SWA-ed.
@Kilo: Thanks![/b]

New ship bump.

Image

The BC(A)-02 Renegade class Armoured Battlecruiser

Metagame Armament:

1x Super Beam Emitter
2x Heavy Beam Emitter
8x Beam Emitter
6x Heavy Laser Cannon
4x Interceptor Beam

Image

A standard battlegroup comprising a Renegade at the centre, three Flankers scanning for cloaked ships fore, and a ECM Disruptor bringing up the rear

This battlecruiser is armed to the teeth with energy weapons of all sorts, including a spinal 360 degree superlaser that can cut through enemy ships like a hot knife through butter. This, combined the two flanking heavy emitters and a varied array of small emitters gives it unparalleled power on the battlefield.

I'm loving this new series, (although i still can't tear myself away from those battleships lol), the only thing i would point out is maybe making the thrusters/exhausts the same colour as the glows or a more complementary colour than the standard blue.

I would have made the thrusters the same colour as the glows, but the glows are the team colours and I don't know how to make the thruster colour the team colour. It wouldn't be nice to have red glows with green thrusters for example.

So do you think I should continue with this series, go back to the battleships, or do both concurrently?

Ah right, i don't think you can set them to team colours so yeah. Well i'd like to see both continued but it just depends what you have ideas for, which you don't seem to be lacking in tbh :D.

New Ship in the Big Glowy Core series!

Image

The CL(M)-5 Bombardier Light Missile Cruiser

Metagame Armament

1x Cruiser Missile
2x Alliance Railguns
6x HVRs (no clip expansion)
3x Interceptor Beam

Image

The Bombardier on live-fire exercises

The Bombardier light cruiser design does away with all energy-based weapons to use purely missiles and railguns. It excel in long range engagements, though its moderately thick armour allows it to survive short range engagements for short periods.

Yet another new ship bump.

Not meant to be a serious ship. The tesla weapon can tear through all my existing ships with 120 damage per frame and only minimal reload.

Image

The SS-X Eternity Experimental High-powered Weapon System Ship

Armament (Not Metagame)
1x Spinal Terawatt Tesla Discharger
2x Interceptor Beam

Image

The Eternity undergoing testing in an undisclosed location. For the record, it destroyed the Freighter in 3.5 seconds.

The SS-X Eternity is a highly classified weapon system tester. It is literally built around its only primary weapon of a massive spinal tesla discharger that can rip other ships- be it battleship, cruiser, carrier, whatever- into tiny fragments of steel within seconds of getting into range. Though it is slow and poorly armoured, and its primary weapon has a narrow firing arc and it has no fighter defence, it is staggeringly expensive and it is highly unlikely it will see widespread use.

Some of your section usage could do with a bit more flow. Also for some reason, these remind me of eri's metagame ships...

WTF... My battlecruiser look like a near clone of Eri's...

Something must have rubbed off while I browsed through the forums a while ago or something, I didn't copy it piece for piece in case anyone suspects me of doing so. It looks almost to close to be coincidental.

So should I take the ship down from here?
