First Ships

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

No you don't need to take it down. Overall your ships are decent. It's just that they're a bit cluttered and the depth is a bit backwards(the higher sections which should be lighter are darker) in some places. Otherwise, they're pretty good.

Ok thanks then.

Can anyone enlighten me on the "ECM Arrays" on the metagame ships? I can't guess what this actually is.

It's a fancy trick using tiny, almost invisible and almost impossible to hit, rapidly moving sections that abuse the way the AI selects targets in order to draw missiles away, amongst other things.

Ok thanks. How far away from the ship and how small are the sections?

Those two dark-blue coloured sections at the back of those two ships are... well, too dark, its hard the see the detailing on them. Try changing their shading to the ones used by those other blue sections, it would look better.

Apart from that, those ships are pretty good.

Edit:... I somehow ended up commenting on one of his eariler ships, not his lastest :(

OKAY looks at his lastest ships
That green core and the way you placed the sections around it looks nice. Actually the way that all the sections are placed make it look kinda "robust", like it can take on lots of damage and suvive.

Ironically, you stated that it is "poorly armoured"

Based of the Eternity's hull:

The D(A)-5 Semblance class heavy assault destroyer

Armament (Metagame)

6x Twin Heavy Laser Cannon
4x Quadruple Heavy Laser Cannon (basically the THLC with 2 clipsize)
3x Point Beam

The Semblance class heavy assault destroyer sports unrivaled firepower for its size at the cost of armour and speed. It excels at attacking enemy capitals and can handle supercapitals in small groups. However its entire attack power is based around easy-to-intercept laser cannons meaning a good flak-based PD can easily nullify its attacks.

Whoa. Too bright flamethrower. lol It's also a bit too smooth. (I'm talking about the flame). You may also want to hide the green core on the flamethrower ship.
The first ship is good. You could work on depth to maximize the beauty of it.

Hacked up the KGV's hull to create a passenger liner of sorts. Mainly to test glows.

Image

The Empire City class Transgalactic Superliner

The Empire City was the Cunard Space Division's first entry into the lucrative passenger transportation business. Fitted with three tandem linked reactor turbine cores, this ship can reach astonishing sublight speeds for its size and has excellent maneuverability. It has an armament of 2 small guns and 4 long-range high-damage flak guns to destroy errant asteroids or to beat of pirate raids. That said, it usually relies on its speed to keep it out of trouble.

Image

The first ship of the class, the Empire London, was caught off Vega by a massive meteor shower, which destroyed the pressurized compartments and blew up the reactors. The second, the Empire Chicago, served during the Mintakan Rebellion as a troopship and was blown up by several destroyers. The third, the Empire Tokyo, is still under construction and special hyperdrives will be fitted to enable it to contest for the prized Silver Riband award.

There's still a recurring issue with clutter on your ships, along with some shading inconsistencies (if you were aiming for depth shading, that is).

Not bad, still cluttered, and the boxy glows along the center line don't look good at all. The side glows are far better.

Not bad, intresting patterns around the glowing center core. The two team color stripes near the mid front look out of place. Still recurring problems with clutter, especially around the rear. The holes around the front make it look like swiss cheese.

Not much to say. Decent, especially cluttered around the outer-mid-rear. Have you considered trying using color depthing? It may alleviate some of the clutter.
