New Range of Ships

This is hopefully the first in a range of ships depending on general feed back from everyone.

Im rubbish at back stories but will give it a go.

The Koumari Federation is a new empire steadily working its way to glory. Like most empires it has a need for ships to claim and hold new territories.

Federation Alpha (Speed)

This ship has a dual purpose, quickly striking distant colonies out of nowhere and forming the main battle line in an assault. As a result it has a modifiable weapons array and two distinct forms which it can change between for any confrontation.


All CnC taken, will don flamesuit if neccessary.

the sectionwork on the second one is.. cluttered and repetitive. You really have used the same section too much, on both ships. Most of the sections don't go well together, but the general shape is good, especially on the second one.

Thanks for the advice, i was trying to get "wing" looking sections for the ship. Both ships are transformed versions of the other

don't worry about it. Are you going to change them or make more ships first?

do you mean the nacelle things or the furthermost parts of the body, because the nacelles are fine but the latter bits are too repetitive. And Sorry but I can't suggest any parts. Just use a variety of parts that go well together.

You need more color variation. Why it looks cluttered and repetitive is partially because you're using the same color for 90% of the time. Try this: Higher places have a lighter shade, and lower places have a lower shade. Set for yourself a "focus point" for your ships, and try to make that part stand out as much as possible (more contrast). Use as many ways as you can.

If Cycerin won't kill me for this, I'd like to use his ship as an example:

Notice that all his spikes point towards the center of the ship, and the most glows and thingys appear in the core region. That place NATURALLY draws your eye there.

Yes because that ship has such a variation of colours and glows the repetition of sections works really well.

Make the whole thing lighter as well, dark ships look flat.

The holes in the wing sprites are no good. Bit of overlap on the center two sprites. And it could use more layered sprites, feels kinda flat right now.
