Grey Sections

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Grey Sections

Post by Dingo »

Why do the veterans ships seem to all have grey sections?
to give the illusion of depth?
& how do you do it ? (solid grey b/g on SM or something like that?)

The biggest reason is that shades of grey are very neutral, most colors work well with them as long as you don't make them too dark.

I think hes also referring to the TSA sections. In which case, they can be obtained through the 'custom content' area.

Not sure which your asking how on...
To shade using gray, we generally use the default shades in the color menu: the dark gray, light gray, and white. Usually do it so the 'lower' sections on the outside or in depressions on the hull are darker, while bridges and turrets and such are lighter. Highlights of other colors should be added in throughout.

If your asking how to use custom sections, you click on the links in the custom sections area to download them, use a free program like 7zip to extract the files(since their usually stored in a zip file) and drop the folder in your custom sprites folder. They can then be dragged from there into shipmaker, or made into a .ini file to be loaded on the menu ingame.

Does that answer your question or am I not understanding it?
