My original post was when I just started reading up on the Metagame and found it practically right down the alley of ship design in my head, so I chose to try and follow as close as possible Metagame standards in my SM tryouts. I've made older ships which I've had comments on have been turned to links to help others and myself.
Ships from oldest to newest
light frigate,
corvette,
heavy frigate,
missile frigate,
escort frigate,
fire support corvette,
armored corvette
Update 1:
frigate,
corvette,
frigate 2
Update 2:
frigate2
yet another frigate
Update 3:
corvette3 frigate4
another corvette and frigate
Update 4:

and

yet another corvette and frigate... aaand...
Yay, metagame!

Type 17a anti-strikecraft and 17b fire support corvettes made by KazuTeknologies

Momi-class escort frigate and its fire-support variant, the Nikko-class

The destroyer-sized-of-all-trades Akatsuki-class destroyer, my first ever foray into larger ship hulls.
Update 5

Ontake-Class cruiser. Bit of a New Year's ship.
Please C&C

I like how you used these sections and the colouring.
Good Work!

Nice engine blocks+glows and good use of doodads there.

Wonderful ships can't wait for more but i am a little confused...are the Vulcan spirites from Se7en's weapon pack hiding real Vulcan cannons or just machine guns?

Not so much of a fan of the "penis with fins" shape, but that's probably a personal thing.
I do like the engine glows.

Eh, shape doesn't bother me, it's those colors that are naff. Off-green and off-yellow bits on a mass of gray just. doesn't. work. Engine design is pretty neat, however. Keep that up!

the off-yellow colors denote ablative armor sections. The green ones are team colors. I could just throw the green sections out and/or underneath like what I do as "superstructure", but I havent found a way to put stripes or team colors besides the doodads.
Also, its somewhat confusing when I have blue doodads denoting maneuvering thrusters on an allied ship that has blue for a team color...
I have been thinking about experimenting with "battleship paint" like designs, grayscale though. Problem with that is its hard to denote depth, and even so, its even harder to pull the coloration out if its a different color scheme.

Following the metagame rules here, so they're actual vulcans.

EDIT: Update 2
C&C please. I don't know if I'm doing things "right" or "wrong" at this stage, and the last thing I want to do is unlearn stuff down the line because my approach/technique is completely wrong.

For half a second I thought I was looking at metagame ships. That is definitely a Good Thing. Keep going with this line of thought

Looking at "Update 3" I thought it was something like a multi-stage rocket that could detach its rear portion

Then I noticed the bright lines on the background didn't match up.
