Rikkie's Ships

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Well, I thought of making a thread of my ships.

Sweet jesus that's a ship that's way too cluttered.

Listen, the goal of a ship isn't to make the largest, coolest shape possible. It's to figure out what parts go together well and use them accordingly.

You have a good outline of a ship. Now make the parts work together. I see way too many intersecting lines, odd angles, all on the inside of the ship. Keep the look of the outside, but I really think you need to do better on the inside work.

On the other hand, it's a good first ship. These new shaded parts really have done wonders for new shipbuilders.
It's not my fault I can't take your post seriously.

It actually looks nice. The thing that bothers me is that it looks like there's graffiti on it or something. :lol:
Using some other sections will make it better though.

Well, that's the problem. I don't know what sections to use.

Ya I agree with 2500st...you should switch out some of those for their counterparts from the pack that doesn't have all that color, just to tone it down. Would also make it easier to tell where you need to improve teh section work since its hard to distinguish right now. i do like the shape though I would eliminate the centerline gap by adding something along the middle cuz thats sloppy mirroring.

Looking at it seems like you could easily make it assymetrical which would be awesome!

Y'know what I see when I look at this ship? I see something that's far too large and looks like it's been slapped together almost entirely at random.

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to achieve, but whatever it's for or whatever it's meant to be, it needs a lot of work first.

OMG!! :shock: That...That... that massive ship looks very very very randomized :lol:.
That sections just are good for medium and small ships, i try to make big ships with those sprites but never work good...

It's very cluttered and I can't get a sense of depth.

And making big ships does not always equal a good ship. Start small.

Try building smaller ships first with the DStech pieces. Once you have a suitable core piece, augment in different steps so you have a "fleet" based off the same core design. I've seen many people do that, and the results seldom disappoint.
If admirals hate and trash your ships,
If you can't get it right;
Then off you go, but don't call quits;
Just go make custom sprites.

I think it's pretty nice. Got a very good sense of depth. Like a ship with lots of spires and antennae sticking up.

the very-heavy bomber looks a bit too wide. Armored transport has potential

That's the point of that ship.
