I have retu... Dang, but I'm late. Some ships

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Alright. I've been watching you forum. I watched TSA happen. I watched .90 come along. I played with the ships I never released in v .88....
And then, I had a calling from my heart... To make more ships...
Now that the drama and heavy handed exposition has been laid on thick enough to bury the world, its time for some ships.
No backstory here, I'm afraid, but they come in blue or red, as you will see.

First up, the Poseidon Fighter. Its a zoomed in pic, because it is just that tiny. Note that it is a three section fighter, which I haven't seen around. (Understandably to keep performance, but I suck at spriting single sections, so here.)

Next: The Persephone Cruiser

Now, an addition that comes from my sister. A bit spikier than the other ships, but I left it in.

Here to demonstrate the crimson paintjob is the Atlantis Long Range Missile frigate.

My first try for assymettry. Don't hurt me! Gemini Destroyer:

The Ares Battlecarrier is a carrier designed to be in the thick of it.

The sections used are too identifiable. The Gemini and Ares are nice, but the Ares is a bit cluttered with the Mecha sprites.

Feels uninspired :? .

You should use 7's custom weapons. You may also want to clean up your section usage..
or are you just making a balanced fleet?

They aren't great, but they aren't bad!!!

I am so happy these aren't bad.

Yeah. Its supposed to be sort of a generic type of thing. This is my first real effort with these sections, too.
The Ares is a bit cluttered. I hate making larger ships like that, because it always ends up cluttered.

I thought about using custom weapons, but decided against it. I should, next time.

Use TSA-styled weapons if you're going to use TSA-styled sprites.
Default weapons just look BAAAD on them.

I go tot admit your sister has style, so why don't you use her as a critic to critique your ships?

I mean, I use my twin brother all the time!

His sister created a ship that has style so she could help him by critiquing his ships...
Please don't shoot me down its not that bad of an idea...

Bump.

Okay. I'm back with MOAR SHIPS! I took some suggestions and used the custom weapons pack, and I must say, the new ships are much better. The same style is kept, only the ships are cleaner, meaner, and shinier. First in the new lineup is...
Hera Heavy Attack Ship:

Hades Cruiser:
Image

Orion Battlecarrier: (Yes. Its based off of the Orion from Freespace, but its not a direct remake!)
Image

Caesar Destroyer:

Finally, the Asgard Installation:

The radar doohickey on the top-left spins!

EDIT: Accidentally used the wrong image for the Hades. Fixed.

The color's OK IMO, if you reduce the number of sections with it.

keep the shade of blue its unique to you and don't reduce the number of sections with the colour.

people are just being picky because your not donig the generic monochrome with glows for colour.

the ships are really nice, i love the fact you have 1 really blue and the other really red its like 2 seperate factions, i think you should add a third aswell with like an orange/yellow colour (just as bright as the blue and red)

I think it's more because the blue he's using stands a bit too much out. Skull13, try using a lighter shade: it looks more realistic, especially with TSA sections.
If admirals hate and trash your ships,
If you can't get it right;
Then off you go, but don't call quits;
Just go make custom sprites.
