~Archalieus Shipyards~ - Rusty

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Welcome to my post! New ships will be added periodically as I develop my shipmaking skills and style. Comments are always welcome!

Current Projects:

Download link on the current fleet!

Legions of Lyseptis Pack

Please tell me if there are sprite directory errors! (Ship and sprite name, please)

Legions of Lyseptis

Legions of Lyseptis (Starting on Page 17, with the Vertil)

Named the ship "Scimitar". Looks like it's going to be a big project for my first try...

I know the front can be improved, but how?

Edit:
Lost the file due to uncontrolled reformatting, this project is discontinued. HOWEVER, there is a fleet coming up so stay tuned!

Colors are too bright. Try reducing saturation. The contrast is too high for me to really get a good look at the sectionwork.

Big Mistake #1: You've pretty much used ONLY Kae's Generic sections as far as I can see. Bad move. You need to try and use more of the other SWA sections where possible. Not easy, no, but it's doable and it'll look better in the long run.

Ah, much thanks for the help!

I've imported more SWA sprites and changed the ship to this:

Completely revamped the front.

As a sidenote, is there any easier way than configuring the sprite .ini files to mass import sprites?

Open Group Arrange, then drag the sprites into the the window. It's in the Documentation.

Oh, that's where you drag it.

Much thanks!

I don't like how it looks like a laser just bore two holes through your ship.
The shape is rather nice. Some of the section usage is a bit messy and some of the contrast is a bit too much for me but it's decent for a first shot with TSA sections.

The back port does look unsightly, now that you mentioned it. Patch~

I've closed up the port in front and colored some more pieces. I'm wondering if is should redo the rear outside engines.

Can you specify where the section usage is a bit messy? And how should I lower the contrast, by removing the yellow/teal pieces?

I think the contrast is still way too high. Try starting from greyscale and color for accents.

Scrapped the two larger outer engines.

Nah, I think it looks much better like this. It's a huge improvement for sure.

Looking better. Section placement is a bit random. The black is also a bit too dark.

Try switching to a light colored flat color background when you go to take the ship image, It will make it easier to distingish.

Mostly I say that the near black parts of ship look like they are supposed to be highlights, color on these areas would be an idea.

The structure of the ship is interesting but the "arms" in the middle look weak and don't really fit with the rest of the ships strong look. Although I do see why they are there, as without them there would be a plain section of the ship that would need improvement.

The engines also need more work, they seem to be too small at the ends to move a ship of that size, probibly more personal prefrence, but you might try making the engines wider at the ends. Most ships from movies and RL have rather large thrusters at the back end. These ones are rather small.

Still the evolution is coming along nicely.

Thanks for the help, Silverware!

I'm still having trouble making a "command deck" for the ship. There's currently one on the back half... but it's hard to distinguish.
