Wicky's SW Ship Thread **DL UP**

My first serious foray into SWA-style ships:

Thinking about entering the metagame with something like this, a 200 threat escort carrier.

Not sure about armament or balancing yet, but I could do with some direction to the ship design. Any ideas?

Back section is a bit too dark, and the blue beam? is blocked a little on the bottom half.

Seems like a crash cage mausoleum mix.

I'd say add to the front jaw looking opening, maybe connect the black outer plating with something like you did in the back.
The top of the spire could host a beam, and that arrowhead bridge just behind could hold some impeders or such.

Just a quick aesthetic update, looking to sweep the internal structure out over the bow and break up the silhouette. Think it works?

Heavily armed with an efficient spread of forward firepower, this destroyer is a force to be reckoned with. However, with the bulk of its armour and weaponry focused forward it is vulnerable to flanking attacks.

Fast and dangerous, this ship packs the punch to hunt destroyers in small groups.

A flanking skirmish element, designed to rip through fighter wings and then attack enemy fleet elements from the rear - or at least disrupt enemy fleet formations trying.

Ooo... New style! Very interesting ships. I dunno.. I kinda like them and I kinda don't.
They look rather cartoony. :?

'Cartoony' is an... interesting response, lol... not the one I was aiming for, however.

As one might have guessed from the 'Threat' n shit, I am considering these for the Metagame - anyone think that could work?

Maybe for an imperial guard for a Northern European style monarchy, or prototypes, but the color with these sections doesn't seem practical for mass production.
In other words, they're too beautiful to be in a war.

Thank you, unsunghero, for saying my ships are 'beautiful' - I assure you, though, that they are quite competent in battle.

Most of the colour in these ships comes from lights in team colour 1 - I thought it a nice way to include colour over metal bulkheads. I'm fairly certain that bare metal is suitable for mass production ;)

But curves in atmosphere-less space, and what appear to be command bridges(?) show that resources are great enough to impart a little artistic flare, rather than only what was needed to save money.
A square takes less time to form than an oblong crescent.
That also shows that this isn't a ship of necessity, as a ship with these parts would take longer to repair. A simple patch in the field wouldn't fit right.

But nanobots would make my argument null. =P

On the escort, it might heighten your shading effect if you lightened sections adjacent to the reactor slightly, even give them a slight blue tint.

Cheers for the positive feedback - even if these aren't going to be built by any corp in the Metagame, I can still build n balance them ^_^

I'll do a few more and put a download up, if peeps are interested.

Your use of glows to create depth is very impressive. My only complaint is that the forward part of the Assault Destroyer seems a bit cluttered.
