WIP - Star Destroyer/Dragon v2 - Updated with GIF

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

WIP - Star Destroyer/Dragon v2 - Updated with GIF

Post by parameciumkid »

I decided to revisit my Star Destroyer/Dragon transformer idea and build a new and better version...
I want to know how this is measuring up so far and whether the Star Destroyer design is too overused.

I like it. Although, I do admit, it is very star-destroyerish. Maybe you could make it a) less pointy
b)more blocky
c)ignore me and ask for more c&c
It's not my fault I can't take your post seriously.

25% chance this thread devolves into discussion about exposed bridges and "THEY'RE SHIELD GENERATORS" "NO THEY'RE RADAR DOMES" "NO THEY'RE BOTH".

Still, I like it, though it's a little chaotic.

Nice detail work there, Chibi. Although I don't understand the big gap in the center. Are you trying to make a hangar bay?

They're shield generators, according to the schematic I used as a ref image.

Yes, but if you're referring to the larger hole near the back, it's supposed to be a sort of cut-away view revealing the "Solar Ionization Reactor" on the bottom of the ship.

What if the Star Destroyer transformed into the dragon? That would be epic. Tres epic.

Well, it's actually your only good looking ship so far. I still think it has way too many little useless holes in it.(More then 0 that is.)
I really liked the Idea back then, and still support it right now.

On a side note: Could you tell us how you made the flametrower on the original one.(preferably with flame sprite.)

Update:
Image
Started over again with a more um, elegant style. It doesn't look quite as industrial as the original Star Destroyer anymore, but more of the holes are filled in. Dragon Mode still needs work.

Hey thats actually looking nice. Am I missing it or is it not shaded at all for depth, cuz I think that would help. Also engines seem rather small. I really can't fault you for the repetition along the edge but I wish we had a good section for doing wedge type shapes, nothing really flows very well without being spammed or having gaps. I like the interior structure though!

So when are you gonna show this off in normal,non-inverted view?

The shading is subdued by the "sharpen" option in my image enhancer. Below is the un-enhanced version:

The ship looks bad now, there are reapeted sections all over the place, strangly overlapping sections and some fuzzy stretched pieces.
You even overlapped 4 of the 12 guns I can see.

AND THERE ARE STILL HOLES IN IT!

Which guns are you referring to? I'm pretty certain I haven't overlapped any guns.
Also, the overlapping sections you mentioned might be that way to fill holes or be used in Dragon Mode.
