The Verdian Imperial Stellar Defense Force

Equus Verti

Image

Frigate sized, deployed alone on patrols or in larger numbers as escort and bombardement vessel.

Possok Varden

Image

A rather large destroyer sized vessel. Main feature is the spinal K-meson accelerator, that fires a pulsed beam.

Mossonye Pak

Image

Mid-size cruiser that carries plasma torpedoes on top of conventional armament. Used as command ship for medium fleet operations.

Atilla

Image

Heavy battleship that adopts the K-meson accelerator technology from the Possok Varden and combines it with plasma torpedoes. Conventional weaponry is somewhat reduced in effectiveness due to missing guidance systems for the kinetic missiles, but still excells in bombarding other ships and keeping them pinned down.

Narodna

Retired Aynskallayd clan Stellar Warship

The Verdian empire wasn't always a united nation; up untill a hundred years from now, the entire Verdian race was split into dozens of Clans, all warring for supremacy in their sector of space and divided by their culture and tradition. Their combined history didn't make it any better; ancient grudges provoked bloodshed, vendettas and fueds keeping the will to fight going.

At some point in their history, one of the Verdian clans, which had defeated it's major enemies long before began to see the pointlessness in the endless conflicts and wars conducted by their people. Members of this clan quickly raced to see the Verdians united once and for all. Their zealousness, however, was not always met with enthusiasm.

It's unclear when the divide happened exactly, but about a decade later the Verdian clans were divided (or unified) into two factions: those who were for unification and those who were against it. Odd thing is the Conservatives became largely what they were trying to fight, with the Unificationists often laughing at the irony of their alliance.

One of the conservative clans was one of the most powerful and ancient ones around. The Ayskallayd clan had a hang for defending tradition with a fighting spirit rarely seen. It was they who saw the need to unify the conservative clans in order to defend the higher goal, knowing the whole coalition would crumble in on itself the very moment the war was over. It was also they who put the most resources into the war effort, building an impressive space force. Their main achievement, however, was the towering Narodna: a large battleship who's very shape was meant to intimidate. The large, claw shaped ship would swoop in on foes like a predatory bird.

The further development of the war is well known; the Unificationists eventually won, and the Narodna was heavily damaged during the last battle. It now serves as a museum ship.

I very much like the Narodna, though the battle blades would look better mounted on the interior of the wings to protect the neck and main body. Also, whats the glowy sanddollar thing under the rear?

Other ships are interesting at the least, very insect like in some ways.

your narodna look's painfully like the Narada mining vessel from the Star Trek movie, and like eri's tsuki no ronde.

How did you achieve that really long blue glow down the center/front of your Possok Varden? I've been trying to make something like that, with no success.

Use Eri's contrail sprites from his KotBF section pack.

@Jwa: the big blob is the main engine. The ship was conceived as having a triple symmetry, much like a Tri-Fighter, centered around a large spherical engine. The battle blades are supposed to protect the wing strut, not the main body.

@dyoano: I built this thing before the Tsuki No Ronde. But yes, there's certainly some Narada in there. The huge spherical engine is from there too. And yes, Eri's ConTrail sprite is what I used.

I was going to wait till you make some more, but the hell with it, you deserve it.

Why? Because i just love them, thats why. Well okay... i don't really like Narodna, but the other three... Well made, original, great ideas, sweet colors, mecha sections, what more could you want?

I would also like to issue an official warning to you, AD. If you do not make more, i shall track you down and kill you when you least expect it. You better take it seriously.

Are you serious? The Narodna doesn't get holy ship but the other three do?

I honestly don't like the other three ships. The glows rock but the shape and the sections usage is... ew.
Narodna on the other hand has a pwning shape and the glows are awesome. Sections usage and colors are very original.

Err, i don't give holy ship to specific ships, i give it to threads/fleets. I didnt say Narodna doesn't get it, i said i don't like it. And as i already said in another thread, the choice of ships is subjective - i pick what i like.

I guess he assumed that because you didn't include the picture of the Narodna in the Holy Ship thread with the other ships.

Anyway, I personally think the Narodna looks pretty good. It's general shape really reminds me of one of the ship sketches my brother drew when we were working on a mod for some other game.

The outer rear parts on the Possok Varden seem somewhat dark, but not enough to hurt the appearance.

Your best work yet, AD. My only complaint is that some of the ship-to-ship continuity is a bit fuzzy. Colors and design styles change slightly, which damages the fleet's cohesion. Not a huge issue.

Keep up the excellent work.

The more I look at the Narodna, the more that middle claw seems... off. :?

I know it's supposed to be a sort of tri-ship, and the middle claw is supposed to be arching 'over' it, but the coloring around the base of the claw gives me a feeling of wrong-ness.

Where can I get a download of the sprite. I can't find it anywhere.

The reason why the design continuity is a bit hacky is because, well, the fleet is largely assembled. All ships are Verdian, but the larges three weren't originally built as a coherent fleet. The Possok Varden was first posted in the custom ship gallery, the Mossonye Pak in my concept thread, and the Narodna is from another fictional era alltogether.

The dark parts on the first two ships have already been lightened, I've had some complaints about those. Otherwise, the next ship will be a more up-to-date battleship, the Atilla.

I think the middle claw looks fine.
It looks to be arching under it to me.
That bit with the red glowies looks like part of the main body with the claw starting below and arching up from under.

All the silliness aside;

Image

Attilla class battleship. Might make it less glowy so I can at least excuse the point-glows for the weapons, but the main hull is largely finished. Oh and I just loooove the bulbous engine idea :3
