AidanAdv's Random Ship Thread

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Two new random ships in a similar style. I felt they were more interesting than the ships I usually throw together while bored, so I felt like posting them.

Damn, those aren't too bad. The first one is okay, but the second on is... very nice. I like it quite a lot. Please sir, may I have some more?

Blue Angels. That's what I see. I love the brass hardware with the blue paint. Very regal.

They do look like the Blue Angels, maybe they're some type of demostration ships? Only deadly and armed with guns. More would be eye-candy for me.

Shelving the first ship for the time being becuase I haven't found a way to improve it in a way I'm happy with. If you happen to have any specific ideas about what I could do to improve it, feel free to share.

Also, I've finished the 2nd ship and made another smaller ship.

Looks good. Just a thing. In the previous ones, the darker weapons fitted properly with the color scheme, but in this the white turrets seem to stick out too much. I'd say darken them a bit. Besides that, I don't have much complaining to do. Looks good, its small, fits the design of the others.

I agree, the lighter weapon sprite did stick out a bit, so I recolored it to be a darker shade of grey.

And now a cruiser-ish sized WIP. Methinks the front and side-pod still need some work. If you see anything else that bothers you please point it out.

Well, its a WIP so I'll avoid obvious things that you'll likely cover.

Ok, first thing is the very center of the ship. Between the dark-blue ships right at the center are some small orange shapes. In this area, it just looks like if something is missing. When I see it, I immediately am dragged to see there but there just doesn't seem to be anything to see. Nothing outstanding in that spot.

And another thing, which might get fixed in the future since this is a WIP but just in case I will point out, is in the back. The sides right at the very back are too thin. Doesn't look too good, specially when compared with the other ships. I'd say, either add some pieces there to fill some space (in an aesthetically pleasing way, of course) or add a different piece(s).

Thats pretty much it for my comments on it.

I played around with the front for quite a bit, and I ended up copy n` pasting the front of an older WIP onto it. After a bit of cleaning up, I think that parts turned out nicely. Still iffy about the rear and I will most likely completely rework whenever I have the time.

Thanks for all the comments everyone, your advice is greatly appreciated.

Rear is abrupt, skinny and blunt.

Extend and thicken, yeah?

The back two prongs feel too thin, as it also does around the engines. There ought to be a few more light-colored sprites around the engines, as it feels like the ship suddenly drops off right after the circular TSA sprite.

Very impressive, nonetheless. I'm liking those outer arms alot.

Now THAT is an improvement. Good job on the back. That was the WIP's main issue IMO.
