Unlurking - Aezir Heresy Reborn (plus UoS)

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Unlurking - Aezir Heresy Reborn (plus UoS)

Post by Droid »

"We thought that the Heresy was wiped out in the great purge fourty years ago. We took all their planets, crushed all opposition, and finally restored order to the sector. Aezir's mechanical body was suppositively destroyed along with his flagship over Vespis VII. With their worlds under lockdown, we thought that they would never oppose the Union again. We thought that we taught them the folly of attempting to destroy belief through force.

We were wrong. For every heretic burned at the stake, another took their place. We could not destroy their belief through force either. We were such fools to not have seen the contradiction."

----------------

Well, time to unlurk, I guess.
I realized I couldn't pull off much in the new SM aside from the penisbrick with wings, so I went back and looked for something to rebuild, and came across my old Aezir Heresy fleet.

After much muxing about and ripping off different things from different people, I came up with this - A horrible cross breed of the old heresy ships with the spire ships I built a while back:

Union of Souls Technical Database:
Entry 1 - SHIPS OF THE AEZIR HERETIC RESURGENCY

Image
Heretic Battleship Hell Raven
-Known Ships:
--AHR Utsuho
--AHR Innocentius
--AHR Fervent Rage
Classification: Main Battleship - Broadside (assumed)
Length: 984 m (approximate)
Armor: 3000 SAU, Porygus Ent. collapsed-core Molybdenum armor
Armament:
6x Modified vSPer Corp. HBC-2 Heavy Fusion Beam Cannon
6x gTek SRMa-17 Scramble Rocket Pod
8x gTek LRMn-56 Nuclear Missile Launcher
4x Ocrul Ltd. OL123a/ER Particle Rifle, Extended Range
4x Smithson&Co. MG-989 Light Kinetic Rifle
2x vSPer Corp. dAAA-23 Dual Anti-Fighter Beam
1x Ocrul Ltd. OL144g Linear Particle Acceleration Cannon
Defensive:
2x Modified vSPer Corp. BFF-45o/e Projectile Buffer Energy Shield
6x Smithson&Co. FK-029 Long Range Flak
4x Ocrul Ltd. OL020/ER Point Defense Particle Gun, Extended Range
1x gTek PDMs-26 Point Defense Rocket Pod
Propulsion:
1x Hev Urum Research HURR-7 Main Fusion Drive
2x Vzyx Enterprises RDD-8 Auxiliary Fusion Drive
10x Porygus Ent. J-142 Solar Sail

"The Hell Raven class appears to be a Heretic Battleship of original design. It can be seen as an attempt by the new Aezir Heretics to break free from using Union warships in its ranks. Its six beam cannons are arranged in such a way that it can bring five of them to bear on any target not directly behind it, allowing it to perform well as a frontal assault battleship or as a broadside warship. This would allow it to wade into the thick of combat and bombard targets from all sides if not for its lacking armor. At 3000 SAU, it is certainly not fragile, but is lower than would be expected for a ship it's grade, being a full 2000 points lower than its Union equivalent." --

Heretic Cruiser Death Eagle
-Notable Ships:
--AHR Archeopteryx
--AHR Caustic Miasma (ex-UoS Ethereal Haze)
--AHR Merihem
Classification: Heavy Cruiser - Broadside (assumed)
Length: 880m (approximate)
Armor: 2275 SAU, Napthalam Ent. depleted Uranium-Tungsten blend armor + Porygus Ent. collapsed-core Molybdenum armor
Armament:
4x Modified vSPer Corp. HBC-2 Heavy Fusion Beam Cannon
8x gTek SRMa-17 Scramble Rocket Pod
10x Ocrul Ltd. OL123a/ER Particle Rifle, Extended Range
6x Smithson&Co. MG-989 Light Kinetic Rifle
4x vSPer Corp. sAAA-14 Anti-Fighter Beam
1x Ocrul Ltd. OL144g Linear Particle Acceleration Cannon
Defensive:
2x Modified vSPer Corp. BFF-45o/e Projectile Buffer Energy Shield
12x Smithson&Co. FK-029 Long Range Flak
2x Ocrul Ltd. OL020/ER Point Defense Particle Gun, Extended Range
Propulsion:
1x Hev Urum Research HURR-7 Main Fusion Drive
2x Vzyx Enterprises IOA-4 Auxiliary Fusion Drive
8x Porygus Ent. J-142 Solar Sail

"The Death Eagle is an overhaul of the Union of Souls' UoS-AC-147 Ephemeral Light class Armored Cruiser, and the first sighted unique Heretic Resurgence warship. The Heretics have stripped off most of the light beam cannon emplacements off the original ship, and have replaced them with particle cannons, scram rockets, and kinetic cannons from their allied corporations Ocrul, Smithson&Co, and gTek. Additionally, the main beam cannons have been recalibrated for longer sustained fire in exchange for damage output. The mixing of hull materials from different contractors resulted in a lower than average armor rating.

The Death Eagle appears to be the basis for the Aezir Heretic Resurgency's fleet, as noted by the similarity to their self-designed Hell Raven battleship in hullform, configuration, as well as specifications."--

Image
Heretic Destroyer Blood Hawk
-Notable Ships:
--<None>
Classification: Escort Destroyer - Flanking
Length: 450 m (approximate)
Armor: 1250 SAU, Porygus Ent. collapsed-core Molybdenum armor
Armament:
1x Modified vSPer Corp. HBC-2 Heavy Fusion Beam Cannon
2x gTek SRMa-17 Scramble Rocket Pod
2x gTek LRMn-56 Nuclear Missile Launcher
2x vSPer Corp. PBC-668 Plasma Fusion Mortar
Defensive:
1x Modified vSPer Corp. BFF-45o/e Projectile Buffer Energy Shield
2x Smithson&Co. FK-029 Long Range Flak
2x Ocrul Ltd. OL020/ER Point Defense Particle Gun, Extended Range
1x gTek PDMs-26 Point Defense Rocket Pod
Propulsion:
1x Hev Urum Research HURR-7 Main Fusion Drive
4x Porygus Ent. J-142 Solar Sail

"The Heretics have lately been phasing out the defensively oriented lighter warships captured from the Union of Souls at the start of their resurgence with more offensively oriented designs. The Blood Hawk is one such warship. Fast and heavily armed, Blood Hawks have been sighted traveling in groups of two or three to ambush Union capital warships. Their armament mostly consists of weapons taken off of Union corvettes and destroyers, tweaked to be integrated into the ship's power grid."--

Heretic Artillery Ship Pain Raptor
TOP: Support Form
BOTTOM: Assault Form
-Notable Ships:
--AHR Vizidrium
Classification: Fire Support - Variable
Length: 440 m (collapsed); 680 m (open)
Armor: 2000 SAU, Porygus Ent. collapsed-core Molybdenum armor
Armament:
1x gTek TNFC-22 Tactical Nuclear Fusion Shell Launcher
12x gTek SRMa-17 Scramble Rocket Pod
6x Smithson&Co. MG-989 Light Kinetic Rifle
Defensive:
6x Smithson&Co. FK-029 Long Range Flak
2x gTek PDMs-26 Point Defense Rocket Pod
Propulsion:
1x Hev Urum Research HURR-7 Main Fusion Drive
2x Porygus Ent. J-142 Solar Sail

"The first dedicated support warship noted in the Heretic Resurgence fleet is the odd artillery vessel Pain Raptor. The unorthodox design was first suspected to be a broadside-configuration missile destroyer, until it's unique design feature was witnessed. A rotation mechanism allows it to fold its wings forward, allowing it to bring all it's main weapon systems to bear on a single target. In it's dubbed 'Assault Form', its weapon systems are sufficient to overwhelm even a Union dreadnought's point defenses.

Luckily, the design does have its flaws. The vessel is unshielded, and its defensive armament is sub-par at best. Furthermore, the structurally important supports are located near the front (to allow for mode switching), and are only protected by a few layers of armor. Additionally, it's flanks are extremely exposed when in assault mode, allowing quicker ships to wear through its thin armor and take out its critical systems. This highlights the fact that the Pain Raptor is not a ship designed for close combat. It excels at bombarding targets from beyond the range of return-fire, but once drawn into close combat, it is easily dispatched." --

Entry 2 - SHIPS OF THE UNION OF SOULS IN ACTIVE SERVICE

Image
UoS-DN-081 Unyielding Voice
-Notable Ships:
--UoS Righteous Fury
--UoS Pure Advocation
--UoS Unyielding Voice
Classification: Beam Dreadnought - Broadside
Length: 1104m
Armor: 5000 SAU, Nylox Corp. MetaCarbon FiberWeave adaptive plating
Armament:
8x vSPer Corp. HBC-2 Heavy Plasma Beam Cannon
12x vSPer Corp. MBC-93 Medium Plasma Beam Cannon
10x vSPer Corp. sAAA-14 Anti-Fighter Beam
Defensive:
2x vSPer Corp. BFF-45o/e Projectile Buffer Energy Shield
11x vSPer Corp. PBE-188er Point Defense Beam Emitter
Propulsion:
3x Hev Urum Research HURR-7 Main Fusion Drive

"The Unyielding Voice is the heaviest combat warship in active in the Union of Soul's Navy. A beam dreadnought mounting the bulk of its firepower in eight heavy beam cannon arrays, it carries little in secondary armament. It's configuration and heavy armor allows it to wade into the thick of combat and engage targets from all sides.

Union Fleet Coalescents often select the Unyielding Voice to act as the Channeler Ship of the fleet, making use of the warship's impressive synchronous broadcast capabilities to coordinate fleet movements."--

UoS-AC-147 Ephemeral Light
-Notable Ships:
--UoS Ethereal Haze (captured, now AHR Caustic Miasma)
--UoS Transient Herald
--UoS Fickle Intentions
--UoS Ephemeral Light
--UoS Ghostly Prison
Classification: Armored Cruiser - Broadside
Length: 843m
Armor: 3000 SAU, Napthalam Ent. depleted Uranium-Tungsten blend armor
Armament:
4x vSPer Corp. HBC-2 Heavy Plasma Beam Cannon
14x vSPer Corp. MBC-93 Medium Plasma Beam Cannon
2x vSPer Corp. sAAA-14 Anti-Fighter Beam
1x Ocrul Ltd. OL144g Linear Particle Acceleration Cannon
Defensive:
2x vSPer Corp. BFF-45o/e Projectile Buffer Energy Shield
10x Smithson&Co. FK-029 Long Range Flak
2x Ocrul Ltd. OL020/ER Point Defense Particle Gun, Extended Range
Propulsion:
1x Hev Urum Research HURR-7 Main Fusion Drive

"The Ephemeral Light class is the most common capital warship class of the Union of Souls. They serve as the backbone of the UoS navy, participating in major fleet action, as well as serving as a challener ship for coordinating smaller defense forces. Well rounded offensive and defensive vessels, they primarily carry non-interceptable, direct-fire weapons for reliability."

Howdy Droid! Nice to see you and your fine ships.
"Okay. I'm gonna get your money for ya. But if you don't get the President of the United States on that phone, you know what's gonna happen to you?"
"What?!"
"You're gonna have to answer to the Coca Cola company."

If AD's and Eri's ships had a one night stand, this would be the result.

I just realized how illogical exposed fuel rods are.
Now with 80% less fuel rod (and more in line with the name and next ship)

EDIT: <snip>, for image, see first post.

Also Updated with Blood Hawk class destroyer.

Bump for update. (see first post - Death Eagle)

Shrunk useless info text, added descriptions, etc...

Also tried an alternate color, stripped down version for storyline fluff reasons.

Ephemeral Light: Very nice... Though I liked the unique engine style on the other two. Could almost do that glowy exhaust look still on the kae 75s and 100s for a more streamlined look.

I really like the armament on the Hell Raven. The weapons seem to blend in with the hull very nicely.
I laughed.

The Ephemeral Light doesn't draw many complaints in my book, and IMO the glowing beam covers(or aesthetic aegis/doodad/glowing sections?) can never be over done. A-Okay

But a minor fix- A few sections near-center are off by a pixel or two and need to be nudged up/down once or twice.

Worthless personal opinion- Some of the curved, blue sections don't really fit well, IMO. Namely the pair just ahead of the second from the front aegis effect/shielded/doodad/glowing section. Maybe substitute another section or a combination of sections...or disregard the latter part of this comment, if you don't have a problem with that particular section...

Wait. A blue ship with green glows? Eugh. Scrap the green, seriously, and it might actually look decent. Now it's an eyesore, IMHO.

Or try making some otther parts green as well, such as the shields, some of the doodads, or other sections. Blue and green are okay together, but it's rather inconsistently applied as of now.

Da Red Wunz up top are damn-near Holy Ship, however.

Ok, I've murdered the green glows.
Plus I added a new ship...basically my first foray into triggers.

It works, flies, shoots, changes mode fine, but somehow the mirrored weapons don't rotate properly while in game. (nor do they have the correct weapon depthing).
Help?

I believe the depthing issue can be fixed by re-depthing the weapon. I can't say I've ever come across the rotation issue before though.

Anyway, I like the new glows on the Ephemeral. Can't really describe what I like, other than it's pleasing to the eye. Or my eyes, anyway.

Updated with something I muxed together in the Ephemeral's style (While spamming Eri's KoBF sections). See first post for story fluff, if anybody cares (it's just fun to write).
