Uh, yeah, the Kinetic Missile is a really high-yield weapon. Does more damage to targets with larger diameters and bypasses deflectors and is uninterceptable in that it is supposed to be intercepted. One hit took out the 75% of Kazauel's Hierarch leaving only the exposed core and the nose. I had a hard time using them against the Leviathan though, it has too few weapons to intercept the missile.
Ah... that's what ctrl-D is for... ^_^
Two Kinetic Missiles + Ctrl-D = PAIN for the Leviathan. Also, the debris from the missile travel really, REALLY fast when Ctrl-D is used...
Almost too fast to be useful against anything smaller than the Leviathan...

You have to admit the flying shrapnel torpedo idea is really cool...
(2 hits to the Leviathan with a High Yield Torpedo and it's gone. Just hit it in-between the giant protrusions. The repeater guns take a while to lock on to it, so it works out perfectly. It's actually more effective against the leviathan than ships though, as ships have actual turning capabilities)
Right now in my todo list of novelty weapons:
High speed + Low acceleration = Passing... So that means if I put a sort of "Suicide weapon" on my ship it will go through the enemy ship, not stopping (as it can't accelerate backwards fast enough), then turning around, then accelerating back towards the ship, hitting it again, etc...
Even better High Yield Torpedo (There was a lot I didn't like about that one, even if it created an awesome explosion that looked really cool)
A viable Sniper Cannon (I feel that the Railgun is too insubstantial and Laser Beams just don't cut it... Not literally)

Holy hell. This thing is scary. I used several to strike one of my Terran Battleships, and they cleanly severed the entire rear end. Railguns, eat your heart out!Water_and_Wind wrote:I made a similar weapon to the Nuke and HYT, the Kinetic Missile:
The compactness means the 'slug' tends to retain most of it's shape mid flight too. At first I thought they were sticking together as a clump of objects somehow. Oh how wrong I was.
Interestingly, the density of the slug means it is highly effective against large multi-segment vessels, but it's density means it can pass right through much smaller, more spindly targets without causing much damage. Whilst it cripples the Levi, a slug can pass straight through the broadside of an Erebus without causing much damage.

Well, the High Yield Torpedo Mark II and the Driver Missile are now out!
http://www.wyrdysm.com/battleshipsforev ... s/HYT2.sb2

The HYT2 is basically a smaller, cooler looking version of the original HYT. It can, if shot perfectly between the two legs of the leviathan (that hole between the 2 wing pieces), it can take out the entire station in one blow, if you're lucky.
The DM is basically that 'suicide ship' that I had planned. I thought, why not just go with a tried-and true design? Basically, it's a Tachyon Driver on a missile. It'll fire for about a second before being blown up itself.
New todo list:
Pulse Missile
Some sort of 'blade' weapon

I don't know why, but those Driver Missles, at least for me, don't fire their god-damn Drivers, even at point blank range. They just sit there and get blown to smoosh...
I like the new High-Yield Torpedoes, though.

I don't know... Sometimes they fire sometimes they don't... Try targeting individual pieces, it seems to have a higher success rate that way.
