After lurking for about a year, I decided to finally post my ship...


So without further ado, The Rod Frigate.



I think its a good first-post ship.It may seem a little weapon spammy, but thats sorta my style, so it most likely won't change.

Not bad for a first post, though I would suggest lightening up that black color.

I like it, though it is a little too blocky for my taste.
And ya, try some lighter colors.

Also, I'm thinking of adding team colors but can't decide where to put them. Where do you think is appropiate?

I say you should put them on just a few small sections so that the overall grayscale color is preserved but you can still figure out who you're supposed to be shooting at.

Hmm, it's still a bit dark, trying upping the brightness on the darker sections and soften out that gradient a bit. You may also consider darkening the weapons a tad, to keep them from sticking out like a bright white, sore thumb. Not too much though, they still need to be distinguishable from the rest of the ship easily enough.
As for team colours, you could also try default-coloured doodads, as they'll also work like default-coloured sections. I've used this in the past with my fleets*, and I think it works quite well.

Overall, a nice first ship, hope to see more from you!

@Randomone: good ship, only the colors need refinement: more shades of grey to simulate depthing and a fairly dark highlight color, like blue or red would do it. NO YELLOW please.

As with the colour, do not use a pure blue (0, 0, 255). It looks bad at ALL situations.

I still debating how to do coloring for the Rod Friagte, but for right now I'm just experimenting with ship designs.

Anyway, I made a new ship design. I don't really know what to make of it, but it's a WIP.


With parenting


I'm thinking of putting two large cannons on the platforms in the claws and then arming it with other long-range weaponary.

What do you think?

Bump for new ship:The Steel Corvette

with parenting


This corvette is mostly seen in packs of three. Its arnament consists of two modified machine guns.(disabled pulse laser for triggers)
It's mostly used for harrasing larger ships. Its side panels extend out in battle for intimidation.

Can't really see the movement but otherwise these are nice ships, not overarmed or spammy. Just small light ships, Love them.

Protip : This boring color scheme has been used over and over.
I suggest a big change in that.

Proven concept then, if he wants his ships like this he may have his ships like this.
Although they look rather alienish to me.
