I don't like it one bit The section placement is poor the coloring is poorly done.. If you were to improve upon it i would suggest refining the section placement and having another go at coloring.. And true to get a more aesthetically appealing shape.

Going off of what Homer said, try using the same "theme" of parts. For example, if you want a blocky look, don't use curved or alien-ish shaped pieces, or at least minimize it. Also, whenever you use "mirror ship," be sure to double check the mirrored half. More often than not there will be some errors or misalignment.

Much better though the sections should be more flowing like Industrial into industrial not alien into industrial unless you have a medium in between.

I don't really agree with that. A contrast of alien vs terran can be used to great effect in one of two ways. Either it is an imperfect combination of terran engineers trying to use alien tech or vice versa, as seen in the
Stealthbender, or maybe the possibilty that humans can use curvy parts too. Show of hands, how many of you
mindless sheep have iPods or other Apple products?
The ship itself is a collage of metal shenanigans. Proper section usage will come with time-- uh oh. I'm worried now. The last time I said that was back when the absolute pinnacle of shipbuilding was defined by a given person's creativity with the original 26 sections and some clever use of Aegis and outlining. Now with all these new parts and the ability to make your own... I don't know if that statement will hold true anymore.

Say, what game is that?
Anyway, I think it would look better with the main hull extended and widened, with the arms being connectors for side pods. Try using a mix of curvy and spiky sections (for an alien look) over a collection of sections with lines and greebles.

Easily the best FPS I've ever played. I cannot go back to Halo, I will not go back to Gears of War, and don't even suggest Call of Duty.
UT3 is a godsend. Go buy it.

interesting ships. the second one is defianately better, the first one needs a bit of a cleaner blend of the industrial and curved bits (the colour scheme accentuates that)

With the mouth-like structure at the front and the smoky-looking thing inside it the second ship reminds me of my Makaku-class.

No offense, but you definitely have to work on your section usage and section placement. At the moment, it's rather uh, horrid.
Coloring could also use some work, as well as over all more logical ship structuring.

New fleet commanding ship! it gains power from the asteroids around it making the ship require some sort of weapon that can cut into the asteroids it has some taycons and 6 flak guns for defensive reasons

That ship is phallic on purpose.
I have no idea how an asteroid powered reactor is possible, or a good idea for that matter.
It's not very interesting, its guns are vulnerable, and it suffers from the same issue of all the point defense being in one spot.
