Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

I missed the sun sprite altogether... I'd do a covered Aegis around the interior of the sections you used for the circle.

Ok, so I eventually decided to complete my minifleet. Here it is.

The Paladin is the only design which I still think needs to be worked on. The rest, I'm done with.
If you haven't noticed already, both the new Paladin and the Archon are based on flipped hulls of the old Paladin(the old Void Ray). They are, however, not in any way related directly, and the commonality only goes as far as the fact that they're both built off the same base hull.

The old Corsair heavy-fighter got scrapped in favor of a more mainstream cannon-fodder craft, the Acolyte, which is a regular Minifleet fighter with no unnecessary frills.
The Archon carrier deploys Acolytes and drones, while the Mothership has been turned into a supercapital-level mobile fleet dispenser that launches swarms of drones and deploys Knights and Corsair corvettes from it's warp gate(yes, they fit perfectly).

I'm not going to upload them unless someone asks or a minifleet tournament occurs or something. I don't exactly remember what parts I used and where I dug them out from, though I mostly preferred Old Sections, Kaelis' Splinter, Alien and Misc parts, TBE Shields, and stock fare. No original section sprites here.

I like where this is going, only I don't see these shapes to be Grey.

Try to experiment with the blue-ish side of the color scheme (blue, purple, pink)
A bit like the covenant from halo

Not really necessary, but that came up.

please upload them? :)
With that said, I'm not a huge fan of the mothership, but I do see what you're going for and believe it is executed pretty well. Really like the acolyte, although I think it could be even better with some decimal place section repositioning. The lightest blue on the Corsair's rear annoys me. Feels (to me at least) like it's not supposed to be there. Really like the Knight, and... I have a problem with the Paladin. It feels like the center just loses everything that I liked about the ships up till now. It's chunky, doesn't really have that flow of your ships up till then, loses the alienish look to some extent (looks far too mechanical) and feels HEAVILY over detailed. As well, the somewhat odd (very drab, faded) color choices that you did well with up till now REALLY hurt it; they just look odd on the central box. This ship has some good areas, certainly (I like quite a bit of what you did with the rear, and some of the frontal wing area is decent) but I would really recommend redoing this one all together, if you were to keep working on this fleet. Although I could be wrong, of course.

I like the archon, again though, the center feels a bit boxy and just... not that good looking internal wise (you seem to use far too many sections. I'd recommend really trying to clear out the clutter) also, I wish the warp gate was more circular.

All in all, I think you did a very good job with the smaller ships (although some minor adjustments to them would help a lot) and... less so with the bigger ones. Not bad certainly, but not nearly as good. All in all though, certainly not a bad fleet. Would love to get my hands on it :D

The ships are good, but that damn aegis line on the paladin just jumps out and ruins a good chunk of the ship's appeal.

The blue bit on the rear of the Corsair is the engine glow, which disappears anyway when the Thruster-X fires.

As you can see, I tend to do small ships better than big ones, and this has been so for all my fleets. But I try...

Anyway, those comments were really needed. I'm thinking of doing a more alien-ish tapering rear half for the Archon and Paladin, as the mechanical-looking riveted sections used on the old Void Ray(which was designed as a mechanical-looking ship) don't fit in with the alien style of the front halves.

Once that's done, I'll upload them.

Ok, the new Paladin is up, with the close-up shot in the Fleet Post above.

It is approximately the same size as the old ship.

Comments requested.

The middle and front are certainly much better on these. Your internal work still needs... work... (feels a bit too jumbled for my taste) but not horrendous. I would recommend trying to lessen the size disparity between the front and the rear (as the frontal wings are just so much wider than the middle/ back) but if you like that, keep it. The thruster area looks a bit odd, not sure what to say about that though. All in all, definitely a step in the right direction though.
