Yihka's ships (Nooby ships)

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Yihka's ships (Nooby ships)

Post by Yihka »

They are not so great, I know that!

I'm just posting them.

If you are worrying that your eyes will burn or fall off, then press back fast!

One question:

Are there buttons to move a part one pixel?

Things you should know:

-The weapons are slow and weak!
-The parts do not go over 300HP

-Very good armor.
-Able to spawn mini ships.
-Aegis armor stuff to defend itself.
-Slow

Ships:

Alien ship A1:

Image

-Uses a lot of weapons to defend itself
-Very weak
-Easily destroyed.

Alien Bigship A2 "Dragon":

They just suck. They're all stock green, weapon spammy, badly done, and just plain ugly. The first one is unbearably repetitive.

And you seem to know and consciously realize that they're ugly.

To know what's wrong, read ArcaneDude's advice here. Lurk, and practice.

Shift + Arrow Keys should be what your looking for.

...and none of the alien ships look alien  . I guess you'll be trying to make better ships soon?

Things that need work:
Colors, section variety, weapon placement.

Something other than just the regular stock green would be prefered. =x

Try breaking stuff up a bit designwise, for example the snake looks bland because it's the same few sections over and over. I know sometimes this is the look you want, but it never really turns out looking good.

Try going for less weapons and put them in places where they look like they belong. If you need more firepower you should edit one weapon to be twice as powerful instead of placing another weapon.

Things I like:
The overall design shapes aren't bad, there's potential in most of them if you give them some work and experiment some more.

Tha Alien A1, the SUSPECT and the Tentacle are my favorites. The general shape of these are good, but if you just toned down the number of weapons and the use of aegis, played around with some colors, and cut down on the number of repeated sections, they would look just that much better.

Thank you sir for having the dignity of warning us in bold before presenting your ships. The level of spam on the first one caused one of my graphics drivers to kill itself, so I am typing this after a restart. Needs color too.

Aren't we the intelligent one.

But yeah, the post Skrim linked you to kinda sums up the problems on this. He has however given you the wrong link.

If a mod saw this, you could get warn-banned!

But, in other reasons, you are a patriot to our rants. And a meatshield too. Coz i think you, good sir, are absolutely right. They look like my ships the first time i came here.

One tip: Most people don't care about ship balancing now, they care mostly about what they see, not what they feel. Aesthetics > Balanced weapons
Second tip: Most people tell me this-Try more than one color which don't clash, ablatives/outlining, fake aegis/effects, stacking and 'normalized' weapon placement. If none of those work, try all.

But about my tips, yeah, your ship is so imbalanced too. So, improve, and you'll be known :D

once again, sorry I'm not crediting who posted this first here, but it wasn't me.

http://colorschemedesigner.com/

For the terminally hopeless with color wheel points, this does it for you.
For large or complicated ships, accented analogic would be arguably the best, while you'll want analogic, compliment or mono for a small ship, but it still has a wealth of SHADES depicted on screen, so give it a shot.

Thanks for the replies!

...

Thanks for the one pixel movement answer since that was the thing that stopped me from building ships!

Also, thank you all for these links, I will look at them and use it.

After watching at some other ships I have now a general idea of what to make. Thank you all!

( Expect a new race with new ships )

My new miniship:

Karlithy Miniship A1:

Image

It has custom parts and custom colors.

-2 blasters, 5 damage each. Can shoot one bullet every 30 frames.
-4 parts: 2 wings, one main defense part, a front defense part.

Karlithy Miniship A2L

Image

Uses custom parts and colors.

-2 blastersm 5 damage each. Can shoot one bullet every 30 frames.
-6 parts: 2 wings, 1 main defense part, 2 side defense parts, 1 front defense part.

This is the newer version of the Karlithy A1. It is a little more expensive to make, but because of it's smaller wings and more defense, this miniship is better than the A1

Interesting new design, like the color but too blunt and stubby for my tastes

Much better.

Though, instead of saying "defense part", you could just say "armor section" or some such thing.

Now try scaling things up.

at least you have the basic ship-building skills, just select a theme or a design and start making a proper fleet with it!
based your ships on stock ones first to start off :)

I'm liking these new ships, they are nicely done. I think you should try to find a style, you know, something that fits you, while looking good.
