lol ya, thats what they are...Idea was that rather than trying to build a decent looking ship and shrink all the parts down, just find a picture of a fighter and make a sprite and slap weapons and engines on it.

Actually if someone is really fussy about it, they could build a ship with normal sized sections and take a screenshot, then shrink it down to fighter size. Anyone try them out yet? I need to switch out the machine guns for energy weapons that are more visible...

As I said Kaelis, that was kind of the point since I can't build small fighters any good, and I don't like any of the others I've seen.

Anyway, these are the first three ships I've made with the newer versions. I'm dubbing them all in the frigate range for now since I don't really want to make anything less complex than these. I know theres some random section useage but I was mainly going for assymetry and testing out new sections. I'm also dropping my traditional grey gray and white color scheme after this. Frigate 2 won't load in game, still trying to figure out why. I also know I need to work on coloring weapons and such. Please, tell me what you think so I can improve...

I will release these once I'm done balancing the shield. Its invisible except when it gets hit and its not aegised but it will recharge given a break in fire. VERY happy with how it performs.

Out of the 3, I like the second ship the best. The engines look great and the section usage is good. My only nit pick is the amount of Missile launchers on the side of the ship. I just think it looks a bit weird having 5 lined up like that :?

The first ship is okay, but those vulcan cannons look a bit weird in those positions. If they were changed to a different weapon or moved to a different position it would look a bit better.

Can't say anything really that needs improvement on the third ship except for the darkness of the outer sections.

Anyway, good job on the ships.

Hmm I like the third ship its smooth and great placement of thrusters

And I think you made the fighters way too small, they are barely larger than a beamer...But they are still cool

Thruster Jets are too big for a ship that size

I think the first and 3rd are great, the 3rd could do with some bright colours though, it's incredibly dull. As for the 2nd, it has some neat ideas going on but overall seems like a jumble of sections, doesn't look like a ship really.

The third ship is a quite nice example of the curvy style, but with a few blockier sections thrown in. If you're changing styles or colour schemes, I recommend fiddling with the one in ship 3 for a while.
The first one looks weird to me, I think the nose tapers off too quickly.
The second one is great, not as a top down ship, but as what it looks like to me, which is a sideways ship with a large underslung main cannon. I would love to see more like it, as it's been a while since we've had good sideways/sideways looking ships.

I really like the top 2. Excellent use of weapon depthing and non-traditional asymmetry. Moar plz.
